As it's now known thanks to my post in the "Gaia Battle System" thread, I was once a part of an FFVIII rp in a whole other forum, though unfortunately, the forum no longer exists thanks to some moron that posted hentai there. stare

Anyway, I figured why don't we try it here? smile

It'll be based around the RP I was a part of. There are specifics that you'd have to follow, strict ones at that, but I'll explain. 3nodding

Timeframe: The RP takes place after the game and all, meaning Squall's in charge of Garden, aside from the few times Cid's around, and Seifer's traveling the world, undecided about whether or not he'd like to try and come back to Garden to make amends.

First and foremost, PLEASE, be literate as possible. Make your posts as easy to understand as you can, and don't use any weird net-speak or anything of the sort. It'll save a lot of headaches. 3nodding

1. Being an RP based around FFVIII, if you are going to participate, you are asked to know the story at least fairly well, as in not just elements of the story itself, but the characters too, whether they were main characters or not. In the original RP, each person participating was asked to take reign of four characters from the game aside from their RP character. Two of them had to be main characters/story important characters, and the others had to be NPCs, like Raijin and Fujin, for example, to see just how much attention you paid. For example, one person participating in the old one had chosen Zell, Seifer, Nida (the kid who flew Balamb Garden around), and one of the female Treppies. You know, the Quistis fans. (They named her to avoid confusion and such.) In this, however, you are only asked to choose at least two characters you would like to be, though four is the maximum. Also, they don't have to be main characters, so long as they had some importance in the story and if you choose more than two characters, at least one of them MUST be an NPC from the game or another character of their creation, to save main characters for others to use.

2. Somewhere in one of your next two posts, you MUST include at least ONE character of someone else's to interact with in some way, be it walking alongside them to their destination or asking them questions and whatnot(things like that would of course, preferably happen near the end of your post), or, hell, if you had some sort of problem with them, you could start some sort of conflict (again, things like that are recommended toward the end of the post, so that others will have ample time to think of a reply to it). You could even simply have a character of yours spot them and make small talk. So, in essence, you can have one post set so that you're alone, on your way elsewhere, while your next one could be the set up for you meeting another person's character. 3nodding Oh, and be lenient and put some thought into whatever you decide to do. Think about who you're confronting and how active they have been in the RP as of late. As some people will not be able to participate as much as they would like to, think about whether or not you'd like to take certain actions, such as confronting them or challenging them to a battle.

3. ...and this one is IMPORTANT: When it comes to battles or arguements, PLEASE show some levity and willingness to compromise and roll with the punches. Your character could be powerful as all hell, but don't make them win decisively, or at least, not all the time. Have the class to draw out a losing scenario every once in a while, too. To sort of clarify, I will post an example in the RP thread of a scenario that a friend and I did in that RP months ago that we'd became quite popular for, because of how we'd done it. ^_^; I have my character, Raijin and Fujin, while my "opponent" has Zell and the others mentioned above. 3nodding

When we find out how many people are interested, the story that the RP will follow will be explained. And no worries. While, yes, we follow a story, things won't be near as strict as they sound. smile

The reason why I picked Raine was because of her latest appearence in the house above the bar when Squall went to Winhill. I wanted to see if Squall, Laguna, or Ellone will come back to that village to see the ghost of Raine or just go to her grave. Good reason enough? smile

No worries. You were asked to be familiar with the characters in the sense that you know what roles they had in the game if they were main characters/ NPCs, and also so you'd be familiar with their attitudes and the like. If it really helps, the rules can be changed so that you can use just characters of your creation. I'd like everyone that'd actually be interested in joining this thing to be comfortable with it.

As noted, the story of the RP takes place one year after the game, so that means liberties can be taken with characters, if you see fit. For example, when I was part of it back then, the guy playing Selphie and Irvine had them sidetracked in the story by getting Selphie pregnant.
