I was just thinking that Hellsing seems to have a ton of unanswered questions. I thought it would be fun to have a thread where everyone throws em out there and talks about em. I'll start us out with three utterly inane questions: 1: Do the vampires in Hellsing have reflections? I seem to find people writing about the vampires of Hellsing like they follow all the rules of "classic" vampires. Or even worse, treating them like Buffy vamps gonk So the question is, does anyone ever SEE any of the vampires in Hellsing cast a reflection? And no, Alucard being IN a mirror does not count. 2: What's the deal with sunlight? So can they go in it, but they don't enjoy it? Can they only go out when it’s dusk or cloudy or rainy? I noticed in at least a few episodes Alucard or Seras outside during at least partial day; but I can't seem to remember then ever being outside in blazing daylight. 3: Why don't all vampires have red eyes? This question came to my attention when I was watching Hellsing (for like the 4th time for me) with my mom stare . In order 2 she asked why the vampire chick (the crazy slut vamp) still had blue eyes and Seras didn’t. Only thing I could think of was that she was a chipped vamp. But then again, Helena seemed to have yellow eyes...
All right then, throw out your questions and comments. Just generally "crazy go nuts~!" blaugh

Just generally "crazy go nuts~!" blaugh i cant answer one, butll ill try with two: my understanding is that only Vampires of extreme power such as Alucard in the manga can go out in sunlight. Otherwise they have to stay in the dark (hence Seras in the coffin) but in the anime, i believe they just made them be able to work in the daylight, they just dislike it greatly. Probably as predators since they can see better the sunlight hurts their eyes, hence alucards sunglasses. (perhaps) and as for the eyes, i think is has to do (maybe) in Hellsing anime with whom you are bit by. Perhaps it is a marking as to whom is your Master.

Hmm, interesting questions... Now that I think of it, I can't recall having ever seen a reflection of either Alucard or Seras, but then, mirrors aren't really common in Hellsing. On a related note, are vampires supposed to be able to cast shadows? I can't remember. But in V. 3 Alucard cast a shadow, so... Yuzuha i cant answer one, butll ill try with two: my understanding is that only Vampires of extreme power such as Alucard in the manga can go out in sunlight. Otherwise they have to stay in the dark (hence Seras in the coffin) but in the anime, i believe they just made them be able to work in the daylight, they just dislike it greatly. (perhaps) and as for the eyes, i think is has to do (maybe) in Hellsing anime with whom you are bit by. Perhaps it is a marking as to whom is your Master. In Dracula, the reason vampires didn't go out in the day was that they lost a great deal of their powers during the daylight hours. Alucard, however, doesn't seem to have this weakness. In Dracula, there is no reference to the sunlight actually destroying vampires - not middle to upper-class vampires, anyway. I'm going with Yuzuha on the eye one. It could also be an indication of whether or not the vampire had drunk some of it's master's blood (Seras did, therefore she inherited the red eyes). I'm not sure, though.

Sir Langley Actually, the eye color thing was on my mind for a while too. That's mostly what I had been wondering about. Its always the eyes isn't wink *coughasukaredtintcought* I had heard before hand that the Sun didn't kill Vampires, only caused them great discomfort. I mean Alucard did seem a little weak when he was fighting Anderson for the second time. It was day time and Anderson seemed to have a major upperhand from the beginning.

shadows i guess, in mirroirs i 'll have to watch again.
sunlight thing, depends on what inturpretation of vampires your using, some people believe you can kill one with garlic and and wooden stakes, dumb asses. i used to believe that it was the eyes that where hurt the most in sunlight, hence sunglasses. remember seeing van helsing? there was aseen where they looked through the eyes of a vampire, and then their was a flash of lightning and she was completly blinded for an instant. i also remember a seen where seras was out on pretty much intense daylight. and she was sitting stairs with the shadow of a cross over her.
i don't know why she doesn't have red eyes, everyone wonders about that, i'll have to differ to bakamattsu.

I bet if you tried to stake Alucard he would just laugh really loudly at you. Let's see...just for fun let's list the "classic" vampire traits that we see in the anime/manga. Ok sucks blood, a given, sleeps in a coffin, uh huh, turns into bats, check... Did anyone ever turn into mist or fog? I think I remember Alucard taunting the crazy teenage vampire guy about turning into fog or bats... Lesse, vampire in the first episode used the classic vampiric "Charm/Enthral" thing on Seras. Hmmm... Manga mentioned the whole crossing running water thing...
Allright, now the ones we DIDNT see. Unconfirmed on the reflection thing still, right? Holy symbols didnt seem to bother Alucard at least. No mention of garlic, but I have a feeling it's a no go. Spontanious combustion in the sun(ala buffy) also a no.
Things Hellsing made up(as far as I know): The whole silver thing, that's classicly for werewolfs...Any one ever heard of vampires not liking silver (non-blessed at least) anywhere before? Um the whole red eyes thing... While creepy, I don't remember it being a prerequisite of being a vamp in any legends. Am I missing anything guys?

Ok, well, Alucard is dracula if any of you happen to not notice. Second of all, he did turn into like a mist form once or twice if I recall correctly. He was releasing control thingy. and second of all, the thing they had was mercary than silver. and most of them were blessed. The sunlight thing I believe is just like UV rays to us. A ton of it for a long time isn't good and would make us weak as it goes same for vampires and sunlight... Well, that is what I am guessing. The whole eye thing is just a random thing I believe

If I can, I like to ask some questions too.
1. I never really got the last part, where Alucard is asking "Your orders" and he crushed the glass of wine/blood (no idea if blood or wine)
2. I never understood why the police girl turned some crazy girl here and there. Was it the pressure or something?
3. I didn't really get the purpose of having that small vampire girl in the movie. The one in the library.
4. Last of all, how do you kill a regenerator?

I don't get why she was put in there. She had absolutly nothing to do with the series, unless she said something important to Victoria before she died (I couldn't hear) As for the regenerator (sp?) question, I'm wondering about that too.

Um the whole red eyes thing... While creepy, I don't remember it being a prerequisite of being a vamp in any legends. Am I missing anything guys? Agreed about the traits. Yeah, vampire can turn into fog. They're also supposed to be able to turn into a wolf - Alucard turns into a Hellhound. And vampires are also supposed to be able to do the "Jedi mind trick." Dracula used it, and Alucard sure uses it. XD Well, in V. 1 they were joking around about garlic, so I dunno. About the silver bullets: Van Helsing, in Dracula, said that shooting a vampire with a holy silver bullet, while the vampire was in its coffin, would kill the vamp. Hmm, more traits: Vampires are extremely strong. Check. They're cunning. Oh yeah. They can do the teleporty, disappear thing. Ja. They have night vision. Dur. They look older when they haven't eaten for awhile. Yup. They can control wolves and some other animals. Not many wolves in England, but I think Hellhounds count. Vampire eye. Uh-huh. Telepathy with minions. You bet. Vampires are supposed to have to hold their current form and state when the sun comes up, and they're supposed to lose all their powers except for strength, speed, and immortality. Uh, no, not Alucard, anyway. Did I miss any?

onifiredemon goules? i think for some odd reason silver is holy, and anything blessed is holy and could harm vampires. kind of a running joke. if the pope blessed butter kife could he kill alucard? Oh yeah, the ghouls, that's a good question. In Dracula, I think they said something like a vampire could control any dead that were near...but none ever did in the actual plot, so I dunno. It would have been so cool if they had, though. Let's see how Harker, Quincy, Seward, Holmwood, and Van Helsing fare against an army of ghouls! twisted Well, Anderson has blessed knives, but I don't know if they're silver.
