The night blanketed the Homedaka forest. Slight moans voiced by wandering spirits moaned through the wind. Rustling of small creatures and much bigger ones occasionaly seraneded the thrumming silence.
The early morning meant very little to thin child huddled beside the base of a dying tree. The air bit with frost.
The child was alone, not a safe thing for someone so tiny in a dangerous place. Her head drooped low, her mud-encrusted sandals lay helpless beside her, as she drew dreay circles with a snapped twig underneath her.
Who would be out, at such an early hour?

Shakuna walked down the lonley path alone in the mist. He was humming to himself softly. The chilling wind cut to his bones and tossed his already windtossed black hair. "It's cold," he suddenly said cutting short his soft hum. He saw a lone figure sitting under a tree near the dirt road on which he was walking. He approached the girl. "Hello? Who are you and what the heck are you doing out here?" he asked starting to shiver.

Startled, she looked up at him with empty eyes. The freezing temperature didn't seem to affect her in the least. Her hand dropped the twig and she slowly shifted her wieght to her legs to stand up. "Nothing" She said under her breath. Almost as if she was afraid to be loud.

Shakuna sat next to her. "Well, you don't seem cold, but you do seem lonley. I'll sit with you ok?" he stated. He started to hum again, a happy, bouncey tune. Every time she looked at him he flashed her a smile to rival angels.

She wasn't cold. Ever. But she was lonely, scooted to the side, allowing the boy to sit next t her. "You have a nice smile." She complimented. She abscent mindedly twirled with the hem of her white dress. Judging by the circles under her eyes, it looks like she had been out here for awhile. "Why are you out here?" She asked, laced with suspicious undertones.

"I like the woods and the chaos back at home with Nagisa, my father, is getting out of hand. Walking here calms me and tunes me to the spirit world. Nagisa said I will have a nature spirit of some kind, most likely earth, bond with me!" Shakuna laughed. He liked the fact that he had been complemented on his smile. Smiling was his thing. He thought that was kinda sad at times. "Why are you out here may I ask?"

She chuckled in her throat. He sure was a talker. "Earth is a steady type of spirit." She said. "It's a practical element. Dependable. And erosive." She said abscent mindedly. He was nice-- Talky but nice. Nice is good. "Nothing." She repeated. A haunting hoot comes from an invisible owl.

Shakuna was a bit nervous. He still didn't know her name. "What kind of spirit do have?" Shakuna asked, "Oh, and I still don't know your name." He fiddled with a twing that lay next to the log they were sitting on.

"No spirit" She shook her head sadly. She smiled down at her bare feet, wiggling her toes playfully, turning her head back to the ebony skinned boy, "Heavynne. That's my name." She said wistfully. "..And what's yours?"

Shakuna laughed, "I'm Shakuna. Just Sha-kun for short!" He looked up at the fading stars. "I hope you get a spirit soon too. I can feel an earth type that's been following me for a while, so I think it's the one. I'm not sure though."

She was intrigued by Sha-Kun's stalker. "I'll help you find it." She said abscently, removing herself from her warm seat on the damp log. "Is it here now?" She said looking around slowly in each direction.

Shakuna's eyes seemed to glaze a bit and his face went compleatly blank. "I can feintly sence it," he wispered as if not to give whatever was following him a fright. The smile returned to his face when he exited his trance.

"Oh." She said, slightly disapointed, though glad to see him smiling again.
She planted herself back on her log. "Your lucky." She announced, with a twinge of envy.

"You'll find yours. I know it!" Shakuna declared, "It merely takes time!" He stood and did an idiotic, determined pose.

Feeling rather cold for a moment. "Yours seems to have already chosen you." She argued, raising her voice slightly. How defensive?
After registering his stance, she didn't know whether to c**k her head and ignore it, or back away slowly.
