Newer Metallica sucks. It started sucking since 1991. That's a lot of suck.
The reason they suck you may ask? They sound horrible, about the best lyrics I've heard from them in a long time, is that little "rawr" in your post.
The reason old Metallica is greatness? Because they had lots of different styles, and you could understand them, much like Slayers better songs. Only Metallica made it so that any of there songs in a given album could be the albums main song, but THEN they went to more efforts to make the album main song, even more badass than the rest.
I always hear more s**t about Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and And Justice for All, than I do about Nothing Else Matters, For Whom The Bell Tolls, or Sad But True.
The fact is, newer Metallica sucks! Now I'm not nessicarily saying their music sucks, just the vocals because they rely on Kirk Hammet to STILL sing. Listen to the original Sad But True. Then go on Myspace, look at Metallica, and listen to it there.
EDIT: Forgot to mention the drummer I believe had them cut out solo's. The moron.

Metallica is one of the best hard core rock bands, and they never sold out not with St. Anger or Some Kind Of Monster or anything. They are still as hard core and bad a** as ever.

i'm not going to trash them for : selling out, changing styles, or even cutting their hair... because... i listen to music.. for the MUSICAL part of it.. st. anger and the new stuff may not be my favorite, but they're still making music, which i think is pretty cool. and to those of you that don't like them good for you.. i dont care.. they are a great band.. still are.. not everyone can be a david bowie and manage to adapt to generational changes remaining popular... all that matters are the hardcore fans... ........ m/.......

I own every single cd by metallica, and overall, I have to agree with the majority of people on this one. St. anger just isn't as up to par musically as most of their other albums. Metallica has always been a favorite of mine and I hope to god that their new cd is better, but I still don't like st. anger.

Yeah...metallicas new stuff sucks so badly..It was good up untill ride the lightening..black maybe and after that everything went down hill. they sold out and the fac that they made it cause they want to "bring back the hate and anger" is retarded. They said thats what the point of the album was...sorry they are a bit old to do that..but even still..They sold out...and somethings are better left to rest in piece. They should quit before they kill their entire reputation.

Metallicas new stuff is just not very good. it all started to go down hill with load. i will admit i do like some of their newer songs, but only two or three of each album at most.
don't get your hopes up for the new cd because if the 'new song' is any sign of whats to come then they have moved on to a new low.
note that if you have not heard the 'new song' yet go to youtube and find it. then try not to cry crying

I think a lot of what you guys aren't taking into consideration is that music changes with time. (weather unintentional or intentional) Everytime a mainstream band signs a contract they in fact become a sell-out. Hense
"All you know about me is what I've sold you, Dumb ******** sold out long before you ever heard my name
I sold my soul to make a record, Dip s**t, And you bought one" -Tool "Hooker With A p***s"
Metallica St.Anger was the album that got me into metal....I have no regrets I love that album. If any other band would have sold the s**t nobody would have cared. Just because they come out of they're basic realm of music isn't a bad thing. Psstttttt look at Korn's new album that's a band that's changed over time and most people think it's an improvement. (but I don't)

Also, a lot of people say it suck because that's what they heard not what they think. I'm not saying it was they're greatest album ever but it was still a good peice of music. Again I had read somebody mentioned that they're still writing music, they're still artists. Like powerballads, THEY ******** SUCKED! Just goes to show how metal changes through the times it's not their fault, it's what sells. They're just doing what they can to keep writing... *thinking to myself* "She's my cherry pie..." LMAO. hahahaha.
