I had a Mexican Chicken Soup in Berkeley, Ca., about 30 years ago. It was a lovely broth, clear, with slender pieces of white meat chicken, a little bit of chopped jalapeno (was not really a hot soup), and I don't remember what else. It definitely had a different taste.

Sure would like to get that recipe. There were herbs in there I am not familiar with, though cilantro was not one of them, because it tastes like soap to me.

EDIT: oh yes, it had white rice in it, but not a lot.

Do you maybe remember the name of the place or if it is still there?

30 years ago... I live in Maryland now, and have not been to California for about 28 years.

It was on Telegraph Avenue, on the bay side of the street, and very close to the University. That's about all I can remember. It was not a fancy place, just had good food.

Ok, I tried googleing "telegraph ave berkely" and I found a website that had a bunch of shops listed and there are a few places there to eat. check it out and tell me if any of them sound right. I will then try to see if I can find it anywhere on the web... http://www.ci.berkeley.ca.us/coolthings/Streets/Telegraph.html

No, sad it's not there.

But I'm glad Moe's Books and Cody's Books are still there. I used to shop both of them for books and for old LP's and tapes (no CDs in those days).

Very clever to look them up! Thanks. smile

I'm sad not to see the Dirty Rainbow, an art supply place my bf at the time managed. We had SO much fun! He brought home all sorts of books, art supplies and papers and we had a great time learning from them. But that was a long time ago, and the restaurant and art supply store are long gone I guess. At least Moe's and Cody's are still there.

Check ALL PIE/ TART/ CRISP/ CRUBMLE RECIPES POST HERE, I'm putting one up. My mom used to make it and it was great, crunchy topping, but I can't find her recipe. This one sounds good, and similar to hers.
