Okay I suppose I'll start first with this very long yet interesting post... Im about to post >>
Right.
Here goes.
So after getting off of school I rushed to my job, got my paycheck and cashed it and rushed to EBgames. The store was only semi full... but not for Xenosaga fans. I quickly rushed off to go grab my game guide(I collect game guides, I really dont use them except for monster weaknesses) and then I hit the counter instantly. Immediatly the guy knew right away, I was eager to get my hands on the... perhaps final episode of Xenosaga. As soon as I got it, he tossed an artbook in my hands. <3
So I raced home this time. And WOE IS ME, when I opened up the game guide BEHOLD a T-elos poster and on the reverse side a timeline of how Xenosaga was ment to be. It actually spells alot of things out for the fan for those that don't know much about the story.
Anyways, unto the review of the game. I played for 4 hours gameplay the night that I got it. And at this moment I'm already 13 hours or so into the game around 2nd Virgil (Blue Testament Fight) And let me just say that this game is absolutly wonderful! From the beggining I knew I was going to enjoy it (The game's title music... Maybe Tomorrow in a lullabye music box version). The graphics are absolutly amazing, nothing is to etchy, and the fingers actually move unlike in the first game, and nothing is fuzzy.
Now that I've nipped the graphics in the but, now onto the battle system. Not as fun as the 2nd one, but a heck of alot more interesting then the first game showcased. Also the Battle System has be revamped to the point where it loads at the blink of an eye or less, and exits just as smoothly. Once more nothing is at all etchy. And as for the Break System? Well if you're patient enough you can totally break down your enemies a few minutes at a time.
So, how about those E.S. Battles? They're even better then I expected, and the whole story behind the Vessels of Anima is quite amazing and detailed. But we'll go into story later.
Most of the E.S.' have been redone, for example E.S. Dinah now resembles a mechanical killer butterfly. And I'm going to spoil a little here, E.S. Asher looses his Vessel of Anima, no longer enabling him to use his Anima attacks. But I suppose this is okay for now, E.S. Dinah, Reuben, and Zebulon can dish out a pretty penny of damage on their own.
Now for the story line. THANK YOU NAMCO! They decided not to rush the story horribly like they did in Episode II, but for the rest of this I really don't know, After all I am only in 13 hours of gameplay, with about 5 chapters done and not even on the 2nd disk yet. So it's looking pretty impressive so far. Xenosaga is recapturing my heart all over again. And even a few sad parts in the story, had made me cry just a little. The story doesn't focus on 1 character really, but all characters, but in particular they want to show you who KOS-MOS is, and what Shion is. Not to mention, doing a little dive into the past Miltia is quite fun.
At this moment, I had finished off 2nd Virgil with magnificent skill, but due to a lack of save point... -.-;;; And no Ether, or Items, I went 'some place' and got my a** kicked by a bunch of blonde headed U.R.T.V's (punk a** kids)
More review to come.

I had more trouble with Virgil Ver. 2 than I did with those URTVs. Heh. And by "had trouble" I mean that he actually managed to KO somebody. No other boss until that point had managed to KO anyone in my party. Most bosses only get a couple moves in edgewise cos I'm very good about ********' 'em up with Break and combo specials.
URTVs tend to get blown away by my preferred party of Shion/KOS-MOS/Ziggy. I'm really good at jumping back-attacks, so I'll have Ziggy throw Road Rage I at them, then Shion drops Erde Kaiser on their heads. If by some miracle they manage to survive that, I usually have two boosts up by then, so KOS-MOS puts 'em down with X-Buster.
Quick, efficient, very messy. Win.
Also, the double- and triple-team combos in ES battles just own everything.

Nah, Im on 2nd disk now past old miltia, my problem was lack of supplies and not saving =D So I had to go back and beat Virgil a 2nd time, for some reason the 2nd time was alot quicker then the first.. I did it in under 1 minute.

I thought about going back to fight Virgil again, cos my stupid a** forgot to steal the rare item from him. Did the same thing with Citrine. >< But I figure I can do without. I got the Sweet Pain on Ziggy anyway, and if it isn't the same rare steal you get from Virgil, it does the same thing anyway, so it's all good.

Union Neck, I think it was. Gives you an extra boost count if the person wearing it is in the battle.
Or maybe it works regardless. All I know is that Ziggy wears the Sweet Pain (which does almost the same thing) and I can get up to 4 boost.
But then, he's usually in my party as a heavy break whore...

i stole them both, i have 5 boost now!
haven't beaten it, because i'm trying to do Hakox [sp?} and it's being evil. I'm on Expert, and i'm only doing it for Rubedo.
i'd write more, but i've got to get back to the game, on chapter 8 now, should be done soon. [ i believe there are nine chapters? i forgot.]

I think there's ten chapters. The last chapter I remember seeing end was nine.
It's not so bad that I didn't get the Union Neck. Cos there are two other items that appear that you pick up from chests that also up your boost. Or maybe it's only one. All I know is that whenever Shion and Ziggy are in my party, I've got six boost.
T-elos never knew what hit her. biggrin Not when I turned Shion, Ziggy, and KOS-MOS into break whores. ;]
EDIT: Nice Ver.4 cosplay, btw.

AHHH! MORE BOOST?! I LOVE YOU!!!!!! ^.^
10? ahh, that's good, i don't want it to end >.<
oh, so i gave up on HaKox, it's trying to kill me, my head is messed up now. and i lost a LOT of sleep. but then again, that's just Xenosaga.
WILHELM ACTUALLY WALKED! OMGOMGOMG! I'm a Wilhelm fan, so when i started yelling that to my mom she just.......... yeah.....
Anyhow, who is Lactis [program Canaan... or is it revealed? if it is, don't tell me.] or should i be reading the PP script? Because i haven't yet, and i'm probably not going to until after beating III.

It's revealed during the boss battle against Voyager's ES.
And speaking of beating the game, I just did it. I did not enjoy it.
I am now going on the record and stating that I officially despise Monolith Soft and wish every method of brutal torture and execution upon them that can possibly be conceived of, and none of which can be repeated in polite company.
