Anything thats depressing...so classical music, some emo music, and a lot of love ballads put me in the arts-y mood.

My music artists and bands give me inspiration, but particularly the band, MAE (Multisensory Aesthetic Experience), gives me inspiration... Or at least that's where some of my ideas pop out razz

Oh yeah! Definately in my case! 3nodding I actually don't do very well unless I'm in certain settings and unless everything is just so. Otherwise, I don't feel very inspired or inclined to do much at all really. *shrugs*
Some of my musical inspirations are Dir En Grey (more recently so), Kagrra, traditional Japanese music, classical (yesh, I agree on that one), and others. 3nodding

Usually listening to Celtic music gives me inspiration, but sometimes I'll just be listening to a random song from my mp3 player and I think of a picture that goes with the lyrics or theme. I was listening to Avril Lavigne "I'm with you" and drew a pretty kool picture of a girl all alone standing on a bridge. I suppose different people, depending on their tastes, can get inspiration from different types of music.

Heh... I'm a complete and total Tool and A Perfect Circle freak and since both bands' music covers such a wide spectrum I listen mainly to either one of those. Not to mention Tool's amazing album art work is an inspiration in and of itself...

The soundtracks of Escaflowne, Outlaw Star, and Gundam wing, The Legend of Zelda OOT/MM, and Chrono Cross give me good mental images, especially if I need something not literal without lyrics.

Certain lyrics in the past have inspired me.

"On the way down I saw you and you saved me from myself"
"Hold on if you feel like letting go, hold on it gets better than you know"
"I'll go wherever you will go"

I find that classical is the best for just basic inspiration- if I already have some ideas and I want to put them into play I'll go with soundtrack/classical music. But if I am completely blank, creativeless, mindless I'll go with some smooth rock that has meaningful lyrics that I can skew into a drawing or made up a story/situation to draw out.

I'm a sucker for Coheed and Cambria and Thrice and random video game soundtracks/tracks/remixes thrown in there, too. And classical. Trance. Just about anything can give me the inspiration to draw. Now...all I need is the willpower. XD;

I usually listen to a little bit of everything, depending on my mood. Recently I found a band called Beirut that is super inspiring to me and gets all the artsy-ness going.

Jack Johnson, Billy Idol, Gorillaz, Santana, Janis Joplin, The Shins, and TV on the Radio for me. There's more, but those are my current favorites. ^_^

Generally more upbeat, happy music gets me thinkin in vivid colors and funky body movements.

And Super Glue, your sig reminds me of a church sign I passed while in my Driver's Ed class. It said:

STOP DROP
AND ROLL
DON'T WORK IN
HELL
