Fancy a shag role play? This is the place for it.
Phoenix and I began an impromptu RP last night on MSN and decided it might be fun to carry on. Things are very much under construction at the moment.
Setting? The RP is set in this world, slightly AU in the fact that there are vampires roaming around. This is highly influenced by Anne Rice's novels, and as such will carry similarities, but no characters. It's just that of all the vampire lore I've learned over the years, I prefer her's. There will be no references to Lestat or Louis or Armand or any of them for example since they do not exist in this, but we may mention things like "hunt the evildoer" or "dark gift" such like that. This is currently taking place in Italy, Venice specifically at the moment.
So why's the thread locked? Simple, we don't want people posting until they've PMed us with a sample of their work and have provided a character profile in the appropriate thread. Nothing fancy, just a name and a bit of background will suffice. I am horribly strict about this, hence the locking. Once we've gotten a few requests/samples/profiles, I'll be more than happy to open things up. I look forward to RPing with everyone!
* * *
Rules 1. As always, keep it within the Gaian TOS. 2. This is a literate RP. That means that when describing actions, you will describe them and not go *she does this*. Yes, that is the format we had in the MSN RP, but for obvious reasons. Being that this is on a forum, formatting and lengthier posts are possible. Examples will be up in due time. 3. Absolutely no "God-Moding" - yes we are dealing with vampires, and yes they are very strong, but try to make things believable.
* * *
Still here? Super. Want to join? Fabulous dahling. All you have to do is PM myself or Phoenix Weaver with a sample of your RP, it can be anything, just give us an idea of your capabilities. After we give the "O.K", please provide a profile of your character in the appropriate thread. I won't allow posting until that is done. Just a simple name and sentence or two about their story will suffice for a beginning. I will expect a lengthier description later on though. Once the profile is up, feel free to post! (Like I mentioned before, once that's done, I'll have this thread unlocked)

Where it all began. . .
Here is a transcription of what transpired on MSN (as you can see it started off as being rather silly):
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: I vant to suck your blood
It was my B-day says: *sighs* now it is Vamps?!!?!?!?! *runs for the garlic and cross with a stake bottom*
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: XD
It was my B-day says: *takes Kibedachi stance*
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: Throws. .. fire.
It was my B-day says: GAH!!! *dodges to the right and rolls while fumbling for holy water in handy dandy tool belt*
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: XD
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: *flies into the rafters*
It was my B-day says: *runs to the cupboard and pulls out crossbow and aims at vamp*
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: *hides in the shadows, biding her time*
It was my B-day says: *waits patiently and slowly crouches her way around to the wall and hides behind a chair*
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: *slides a desk her way*
It was my B-day says: *rolls out the door and gathers her wits*
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: *smirks*
It was my B-day says: *devises a way of incorporating the holy water with the arrows and makes her way to the door frame and makes out the shadow fiend in the rafters*
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: *hisses and flies out at the impudent human, talons poised and ready to gouge*
It was my B-day says: *dives for the table and rolls under as arrows fly through the air toward the screaming half human*
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: *hisses as she is caught in the shoulder by an obnoxious dart, she flies into a darkened corner*
It was my B-day says: heh heh just a matter of time dearie *She checks her ammo and continued to peek out from the underside of the table*
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: *pulling the repulsive object from her arm, she lets out another hiss as she singes it with her own fire* I am just getting started little one.
It was my B-day says: *She chuckled to herself as her arrows glinted in the candlelite* We will see won't we but I must commend you on a fun battle the rest of your clan was easy to kill
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: Fledglings, the lot of them, I am far older than they. *she smirks a sinister smile in the darkness, eyes changing slightly to a bloody red with a faintly gold hue*
It was my B-day says: *her eyes twinkled as she had called her bluff on trying to toy with her emotions* you called me on it, but I am still going to win even if I have to do it the normal way
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: It is amusing how often I hear your kind say such things, and how often they fall. Tell me young one, is blind arrogance a prerequisite for your calling?
It was my B-day says: *She barreled for the stove that was located near the window and just opposite of the enemy, raising her weapon she pulled the trigger* Well actually you have to have a death wish to join the team to kill your types
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: *dodging the shot, she lunged into the air, and shattered the window near her assailant with a thought and a flick of her wrist* *giving a cold laugh* And here I thought that we were wholly incapable of agreeing on something.
It was my B-day says: *smiling and slowly peeking her head around the corner of the stove she stared at her*
It was my B-day says: there is a reason I am still letting you live I want to make a deal with you *she stepped forth from the protection of the stove*
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: A deal you say? And why is it I would want to make a deal with one such as yourself? *she gracefully landed on the stairs, standing tall and proud*
It was my B-day says: *She sat down on the chair nearest to her that was not toppled over from the fight* Your clan is falling apart and the only reason I am here is to talk to you about making me one of you, my people are fools for not knowing the power of your kind. *her smile lingered on his face* Turn me and we can start something great, turn me away and I will let you kill me but there will be no pleasure in it.
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: *she sized up the human male in her cold, blood red gaze* "My clan" as you say, have fallen into darkness, they are but shadows of their former selves. Little better than beasts, this is true. However, you come here, to me, asking for my power after attacking me with such furvor? Why is it I should trust you, a human, a creature who's very nature is deceit?
It was my B-day says: *she turned her back on the vampire* As you can tell I give you all chances to attck therefore I am trusting and you have witnessed my power and determination to get to something that I want. This is what will make you realize that I am a great asset to you and the legacy of your own.
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: Do you have any idea what it is you ask of me? Humans are greedy creatures, never satisfied with what they have. The promise of immortality is tempting to them, so much so that they do not care for the consequences of their choice. What then is your reason for seeking me out? One you have given, yes. But your true reason.
It was my B-day says: *She shifted all of her weight to the other leg* My people have shunned me for a disease that I possess. . . I can see the future and to my clan that means that I am a child of the Devil.
It was my B-day says: *her eyes shifted up toward her beautiful face* This is my reason for wanting to seek you out so that I may wreak havoc amoungst the people that threw me out
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: So revenge is what you seek? How pitiful. But pitiful too are the fanatic humans so obsessed with their "god". You have shown me strength and determination, this is true, but strength is nothing in the face of a weak constitution. Revenge is a fool's errand. You live your life for it and then what? What is left for you when your vengeance is sated?
It was my B-day says: I have a thirst for more than revenge!! *She turned hastily toward her and stepped forward with passion in his eyes*
I want knowledge, to learn with every century, to be able to live in this youthful body for all eternity and never feel sickness or death. I want to feed upon the earth and soak in the arts. I want to live. . . a real life
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: *she smiled a sad smile then* A real life? What you seek is unlife. It is not life at all. You will feel death because that is what you will become, feasting upon the lives of others. You may not feel physical sickness, but that of mind and heart will easily seek you out, and you will have eternity to bear it. Can you accept it? Can you stand to never see the sun?
It was my B-day says: *not hesitating at all she answered with power in her voice as if from some demonic presence*
It was my B-day says: I am ready to take on all that is offered with this gift
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: So, you are ready to take you say? But what are you willing to offer? By doing this, you become inexplicably bound to me. I must raise you as though you were a child, I must teach you all of our history, our methods. *here she paused as if in deep thought, for once closing her far seeing eyes*
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: I must give up yet more of my humanity.
It was my B-day says: *her head dropped to her chest* I understand this and I am sorry for taking more of you and I am willing to learn anything you have to teach me. I am willing to bind myself to you. . .nay honored to bind myself to you. I am eternally greatful *She lifted her head and witha tear slipping from her eye she brushed it away knowing that it was not quick enough for her to notice*
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: *opening her piercing eyes once more, she looked at the youth coldly. The only warning given was the quiet "swish" of her ornate clothing before she plunged her razor sharp fangs into his neck, taking long, deep, draughts of his potent blood*
It was my B-day says: *life. . . it was all she saw, the pictures that her mind produced through out her life. People yellling at her, slowly the blackness took her, pain was slipping away. . . darkness. The last breath struggled it's way out of her lungs to never be heard again by mortal ears*
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: Your final chance. Die now, a human still, or walk forever changed, neither living nor dead.
It was my B-day says: *Her voice escaped her lips* Change me and make me immortal, I beg of you
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: *taking a red painted nail to her own wrist, she slashed across drawing a dark stream of this most potent nectar and placed it to his lips* Drink then.
It was my B-day says: *the first trickle of blood that entered her mouth dripped out of the side, she swallowed and the blood continued to poor. This was the new life force that was entering her body, she dug her teeth into the wound and drank deeply slowly gaining the strength to reach up with her hand and grab ahold of her arm. Now she was sucking hard on the wrist wound eyes open and turning red, He pulled
It was my B-day says: her head away with a jerk and looked at the temptress with a bloody grin. She wanted more, the knowledge of pasts flooded her mind and the future intriqued her. Her sight failed her again as her body bagan to die. SHe squirmed and the pain was unbearable until there was silence. . . sweet silence*
Seldaara - "Reject the system dictating the norms." says: *she thrust her new fledgling away, drawing her wounded wrist in closely, cradled against her chest and watched as the transformation took place. She would be strong, she knew, even stronger still if she allowed her more of her ancient blood, but not yet, it would be too soon for her, her mind would break. For now she watched as the young woman before her was born anew*

Galadriel lay on the floor writhing in pain, the darkness was getting thicker keeping her from taking a breath. More of her life. . . her actual life, flashed before her and came to a halt. Her body no longer moved, it was just there. Galadriel could feel the floor but knew that she no longer was there, it was like she had been split in two and part of her stayed as the other half took to flight. She could feel a hunger, the hunger she felt before her body died. Her eyes fluttered open and she saw a spinning room and a blurry face above her.
"Where am I? What happened?"
She did remembered what happened, everything right up to the blackness. Anything before being bit was already fading from her mind and the family that she had known was now her enemy. Reaching out a hand to the most purely beautiful face of the Vampire, the Sire of Galadriel's existence. The world was spinning out of control as the hunger purged through her and before she was even up off of the floor her nostrils flared and eyes darted back and forth searching for food. They stopped on the face again and the hunger disappeared.
"Mother I need food, I want you to teach me to kill. . . to keep my life force flowing within my veins."
Galadriel smiled at the thought of running through the night with this fine specimen of beast and human. She waited patiently for the hand that would help her off of the cold tiled floor.

Watching as the transformation ran it's course, Callista waited for the fledgling to gain her bearings.
"You are in an abandoned home not far from your old village and you have died." With those words said, she hefted Galadriel onto her feet. Callista's crimson gaze peered into the wandering eyes of the youth instantly recognizing the look. She thirsted. It always seemed the worst when they were young.
"Patience, we will find it soon enough. Your first lesson is this: It will not do to just pluck anyone from the street and sup on them, doing this will make you no better than a foul beast preying on the weak. As was taught to me, so shall I teach to you. You shall seek out the "evil doer". Murderers, rapists, those with whom the world would be better without. They are easy enough to find, and even easier to lure. Should you somehow fail to locate one, however, there is always the "little drink". Taking only small draughts from your quarry. Although, with you in your state it would be wise to follow the first path as you will likely be able to drain one or two full grown men."
Turning then for a path that lead away from the fledgling's former village, rather than towards it, Callista added, "Come, follow me."

Galadriel took ahold of the hand that was now in front of herand was pulled to her feet, she could sense the disgust that came from her makers words.
"I will learn what you will teach me, I will only feed off those who deserve it"
She locked that rule in her mind and made sure to listen to anything that Callista would and did tel her. She followed suit out of the small shack where they had their battle minutes before, finding it hard to keep up with her precise steps and feeling a little groggy still. Her senses tingled with all of the new things that she never knew existed, her nostrils flared and her eyes darted again at the movement of animals in the underbrush. She finally realized that they were heading in a different way than she wanted to go and her body was being propelled toward the village. Her mind fought with complete lust against it so as to not anger her new family.
"Master may I ask why we are heading away from the people that I want to punish?"
Her question lingered but her feet kept moving, waiting for the answer that was a mystery to her.

Callista could hear the faltering steps of the fledgeling and had to remind herself that this girl was seeing and experiencing things far differently now, with that knowledge she slowed her steps a bit.
Then it was the question came, in all honesty Callista was rather surprised it had taken so long.
"Because you are not ready." She was happy to leave it just at that and continue on her way. She stopped though, sighing, knowing that she would be asked to elaborate on that anyway. . . and likely incessantly by the child. Turning her gaze to the girl behind her, Callista added; "In body or mind. It is because you want to 'punish' them, as you say, that we move this way. In your state of mind you would act rashly and likely end up getting yourself killed." Here her voice softened a touch, "Do not make the mistake of thinking that you are the only one wishing for revenge. Your former people killed dear friends of mine too in their furvor to 'cleanse the world' of us.
"You have gained much power tonight, but that does not mean you can attack an entire village on your own, or that you should. Have patience, you have gained an eternity tonight, a few more weeks will not matter."
Turning once more to continue on her way, Callista added over her shoulder, "I will not raise a blind murderer."

Galadriel looked up into the face of pure devilish beauty, she stood there and kept her ears ready to pick up on everyword*
"I understand this mistress, I will obey your every word and learn everything I can from you. Please keep teaching me, I will take every chance I can to put it to good use."
*she took off running after Callista again but this time Galadriel was focused on keeping up with her superior, This time making it easier to keep up because all of her attention was directed to dodging the trees and limbs*

With that settled, Callista continued on. The next nearest settlement was fairly far, but not too strenuous for creatures with such speed as themselves.
Taking into account the position of the moon, she realized that their little fight and the transformation took a bit longer than expected. Rather than making a stop in the small village as originally intended, Callista decided to make for Venice, and her villa therein. After the young one fed they could go to her home and sleep peacefully rather than guarded and uncomfortable in a dank crypt somewhere.
With that decided, she grabbed the fledgling's wrist as she approached and they lifted off the ground. No point in trudging through a forest when the sky offered a much quicker route.
They flew over trees and grassland, swiftly enough to not be noticed by human eyes should the look up into the night sky. The breeze played through Callista's auburn hair, she never tired of it, this feeling of freedom. In less than an hour they were within sight of the magnificient city. Callista dropped down in a quiet part of town where they would not be noticed. Straightening out her gown, she lead the fledgling into the bustling heart of Venice.
"Now then, find an 'evil doer'".

Galadriel approached Callista not noticing that she had stopped, her wrist was suddenly in her masters hand and before she could look into the face of her attacker she was pulled off of the earths gravitational pull. Flying through the air Galadriel finally was able to see who had taken her into flight, tears streaked the side of her face as they made their way over trees and swamps. Her hair blowing in the wind felt great as the freedom dawned on her, she was able to leave the mortal earth and fly above them like a God. They came to a city that was lit brightly, Galadriel was wondering where they would land so that mortals would not be able to notice them. She figured they would not take so well to two ladies falling from the sky gracefully. Callista with no effort or hesitation landed in a really quiet part of town and let go of the wrist. It was then that Galadriels challenge arose the haunting first words of "Now then, find an 'evil doer'"
"But master I am new I cannot tell who is evil and who is not, but I will do as you ask and find someone suitable to take and feed upon."
Galadriel turned away from her maker and nonchalantly made her way in between all of the people bustling the streets, head held high. Looking at the people as she passes Galadriel made her assunptions that she would be able to tell from the look in their eyes. She noticed a few men eyeing her up from across the alley, she made her way to them and stopped in front of them. There was two of them and both smiled at her and took Galadriels hand and led her toward a blackened alley off to the side of one of the buildings, when they were alone the bigger of the men grabbed her and pushed her against the wall and began to kiss her neck. Galadriel looked upon him with surprise this was something that she had not known would happen, but this made it easy for her to get at his neck. The smaller of the men was watching for others to notice them but no one came. Galadriel could smell the mead on the bigger beasts breath as his hand reached for her skirt and started to hike it up to her knees, this was enough for Galadriel. She leant in close to her attackers neck and sunk her newly formed fangs into his plump skin, she found the artery on the first try and drank heavily. The groan that escaped his lips did not sound of pain but of ecstacy, Galadriel could feel the thump of the heart slow as she slowly pulled out and dropped his limp body to the ground. Stepping over his carcass she grasped a hold of the littler man and dragged him away to the same spot and sank her fangs into him as well with a little more precision and drained him of his life force as well. After dropping his body on top of his friends she walked out of the dark alley back toward Callista licking her lips trying to savour the taste of blood on them.

Callista did not bother to answer the youth's question, no better way to learn, afterall, than through experience. Besides, she was in no danger from any one here, not now.
As the fledgling moved into the dark alley, Callista stood near the entrance of a nearby taverna indulging in idle chatter with the owner, learning of the goings on in town since she had been gone for some time. She got the usual "this doesn't seem to be the right kind of place for a lady such as yourself" and the "ladies shouldn't be out on their own" treatment, but waved it off, assuring the gentleman she was well guarded. The tall lady got many glances from less than savory individuals, but was able to turn them away with her fierce glare. There came an uproar from inside the establishment and the owner quickly excused himself to attend to it.
A few moments later the fledgling emerged from the alleyway, licking her lips. Callista walked out to meet her, nodding her head and leading her off in a Northerly direction. They walked along the moonlit canals, climbing higher into the city, as each moment passed they proceeded further and further into more opulent districts of magical Venice.
"How did you choose them?"

Galadriel noticed that Callista was walking toward her from the bar, she stopped licking her lips and stayed put in the spot where she had first seen her maker walk toward her. Was she in trouble? The emotionless eyes came upon her and the words released from her mouth sent waves of calm over her, she was not in trouble.
"Well, I chose them because of the look in their eyes, I knew they wanted to have flesh I could smell the lust on their bodies. As well it seemed instinctive to go for these two than any thers in the place."
Her eyes shifted to the ground as if this was the wrong way to answer her question, she shifted her weight and took a step away from her new mother. Galadriel could still taste the blood on her lips and in her mouth but her stomach churned for more but knew she would have to choose again and was not sure of her decision. She looked into the Goddesses eyes that stood before her.

Callista listened to the youth's answer, strong claret eyes never leaving the ice blue depths of the other. Even after the answer was given, the elder continued to gaze into those eyes, seemingly testing the other.
Finally, at length she gave a small, nearly imperceptible nod.
"Often the wisest course of action is to go with one's instinct. Next time though, you might look into their minds and get a clearer picture of who you are hunting."
Turning to go Callista added, "Now then we can continue on to my home, unless you still thirst."

Galadriel soaked up the criticism and made sure that she locked the knowledge into her brain, she looked up into the red eyes and smiled.
"I will do that my mother"
Galadriel followed her master around the street and listened carefully for others thoughts and things that would help her with the hunt. Calista had turned to look at her and asked her a question, Galadriel's ears rang with thoughts and she barely heard Callista talking to her. Pausing and looking forward to her maker, Galadriel thought of her question that she was to answer.
"I am done feeding for tonite, and I would love to make my way to your home. Will this be my home as well? "
Galadriel looked deep into the eyes of eternity and smiled, she had never been happier.

"It will be your home as well for as long as you wish it."
She made her way silently over the cobblestone streets, treading deep into the prosperous districts. The light of the full moon reflected peacefully off the calm waters of the canal directly to Callista's right. At length she came to a small arched stone bridge which lead straight to the gates of a two-story white stone villa. The stately lady opened the iron gate and was immediately greeted by two Great Danes, one white, the other black, both obviously eager to see their owner again. She smiled and petted them for a few moments before continuing on.
They walked through an immaculately groomed garden filled with various flowers and shrubs, a tiered fountain stood at it's center. Beyond this was a large arched oak door which, when opened revealed a grand open space. To the left was the parlor, a comfortable room with a large stone fireplace surrounded by overstuffed chairs and armoires. A beautiful, ornate piano stood in one corner of the room. To the left of the entrance was another seating room, this one suited to reading. There were more plush chairs to be found in there. In the middle of the foyer was an old Roman statue of the goddess, Juno, Queen of the gods, and on either side extended a curving stairwell up to the second level. Beyond the statue was a doorway that lead out into a courtyard as fastidiously kept as the front yard. Here there were various pieces of furniture, among which were a table and chairs for dining and a chez lounge. Looking up one could see a balcony that circled the entire area. Continuing on from the courtyard, one would find oneself back inside, on the left the dining room featuring opulent table and chairs in a deep, rich wood. Connected to that was the kitchen, where all the meals were prepared. On the right there was a great library filled with many ancient texts and parchments. Finally, out to the very last door, one would find that it opened up right onto the canal and that there floated a gondola.
The upper levels held the various bedrooms, of which their were six, Callista's was furthest back, behind large double doors, with the balcony facing the canal. In addition to the inner balconies, there too were front and rear ones. Both providing a lovely view of the city.
The villa also had a lower level, below ground where the sun could not reach. In one room, were stored various provisions, in another lay the wine, and in the furthest rested an exquisite coffin on a raised dais, accentuated with gold and many jewels.
They stood there, in the foyer just through the entrance, under the watchful eye of Juno. The entire place was filled with hues of red and gold, displaying a rich warmth.
"This is my home, and now yours. If you need anything, ask. There are servants here, their living quarters are to the right of my home, they have served me faithfully over the years and are aware of our particular. . . situation." She paused here, pondering for a moment. "Come with me."
Callista lead the girl down into the depths of the house, all the while followed by the Great Danes, into the coffin room. "This is my coffin, and the only one in the building. You may use it for now, until we find one of your own."
She had no qualms with leaving the girl and going to rest, but decided on a slightly more tactful path, "Any questions?"
