Hi and sorry for being so absent >_>
I'll try to be more present ^_^

I thought, it might be interesting to show you two of my recents pieces, especially as the theme is actually the same but the coloring techniques are different.
I would be very interested in which version you prefer and why.

The crayon colored piece, while not being as crisp as the other, has more detail and depth which makes it interesting. The texture, too, helps to keep the eye staring at it. Therefore, the first one is my favorite smile

almost what she said, but if there was some way to combine the best of both worlds (neatness and crisopness of second, texture and shading of first) you would tr00ly have me impressed.

Crayon:
Good:
The emotion extras are good, though the red spots don't stand out as much as they could. The grass, metal thing, sky and hills look great.

Not-so-good:
The left person's hair and skin seem a little too dark. The water could look more like water. Last, the rock to the right of the two people looks a little blue.

Copic:
Good:
Quite frankly, most of it looks good. Grass, water, hills, sky, shiny metal, ect...

Not-so-good: It seems a little too shiny and bright. The blue bubble thing could use more of the dark blues like in the crayon one for contrast. The left person's armor looks like poliched blue metal armor, including the boots.

I like both, and can see how they each have potential, but between the two as they are I prefer the copic one. First is that the tone the colors gives the picture better matches the scene. It seems more light hearted. Second is that the brightness is all over the copic one, but the light or dark parts of the crayon one arn't even in the same ground, foreground or background for example. I guess you could combind those two into a vague statement like, "There are fewer descrepencies in the messages conveyed by the coloring, " but you get the point I hope. It's the little things working with, or against, each other that made the difference.

Over all it is a good picture. It gets the viewer to wonder what the situation is. What's going on? Who are those two? A crayon one with certain things lightened would be great, and so would the copic with the bright and shiny toned down a little.

Hope this helps.

I'm interested in this "copic" medium. I've never heard of it but i really like how it looks.

Copics are a brand of markers.

I like the Copics more, it feels neater, and the shading of the guy's face dramatically improved. Though the blushing technique might be better with crayon. =)
