It had been a tiring ordeal, even as naturally as it had come and gone, and Ujuzi was spent to show for it. Eleven puppies! Who would think that she had eleven little ones growing inside of her? She wasn't sure if she should feel like marveling or mourning the soon to be loss of her sanity.
Yet, as her eyes roamed over the eleven squirming bundles at her side, most crying softly for attention until they found food, she knew that at least for now she couldn't do more than go with it, as her heart swelled proudly with affection. These were hers and Kengee's little ones, and soon to be strong, able-bodied members of the pack. They'd make sure that they came up right, and with good role models, and knowledge that they were cared for.
Ujuzi let her head come to rest on her paws, curling her body protectively about the larger litter as the pups one by one began to suckle. Their feeding was unintentionally clumsy to start, the sensation strange to her, but she only cringed just so and then let the feelings pass. Now to just wait for the others, for Kengee or Haiji to give the news to the others.

 In amongst the wriggling and huddling bodies, one little brown pup was being quite boisterous. Blind and feeble from being only a coupld of hours old, the earth-coloured pup still managed to follow his nose to his mothers side. Brothers and sisters all pushed and squashed around and over him but his instinct made him determined to reach food. Whining a little, he squeezed his way through until he found his own place to suckle. Only then did he quieten, enjoying the sensation of filling his belly with the warm nutritious fluid.

Unlike his brother, Chafu, Jabari stayed where he was until his other siblings found their own place to suckle. He sniffed the ground curiously and let out a small sneeze as the dust ran up his nose. As helpless as the other pups around him, he tried to move his way towards the back end of his mother but ended up getting stepped on by one of his siblings.

Without having to so much as think about it her jaws opened, reaching over to pick up one of their wayward sons, placing him near an open food source, which did leave him a little pressed in between sisters and brothers, but it couldn't be helped. Ujuzi made another glance over to be sure that all of them were feeding, or finding their way to it. Their oldest daughter had been the first to find food, and was already curling up close to one of Ujuzi's front elbows for sleep as she was crowded away from her mother's stomach by the large bunch. Ujuzi raised a brow, but seemed bemused as the little orange and white pup didn't seem the least bit perturbed by this, and slept on like a log.

After having his fill one of the whiter pups of the litter curled up on his own. Squeaking slightly before trying to move to an area where his mass amount of siblings weren't inhabiting. His white pelt was littered with colors of both his mother and father, but he didn't seem so keen on staying in such a tiny space where his brothers and sisters were.
So after shifting himself he wriggled towards his mothers forelegs, to try adn nestle between them. Mother was mother afterall, and she was quite warm and he knew she'd keep him safe. Opening his mouth to yawn he squeaked as if trying to say hi to his mom, even at this young age he felt a close bond between them. Curling up by her side away from most of his siblings he seemed quite more content, and snuggled against Ujuzi.

It seemed as though it was Kinye's fate, that it was, that in the first hours of her life, she be cursed with a slight bout of claustrophobia, whining and pushing her paws out and about as she attempted to gain herself a -little- bit of wiggling room.
That didn't work out for her too well, as just as quickly as she had GAINED her wiggling room, it was again ushered away by one of her siblings moving into her. Curses! Pushing her paws against her mother's belly, she seemed to deny it as a food source, perhaps due to being more concerned about all the bodies around her.
The pup produced another squeaking whine, before she curled her tiny body up, hiding her face into her belly.

Ujuzi leaned in and gave her daughter a few licks to her back and head. She needed to feed, she would surely be hungry like the others so soon after being born? Well...
Ujuzi's jaws once again carefully closed around one of the pups, this time Kinyegele, and lifted her from the rest of her siblings, settling her into Momo's old spot. That would give her more room. Once the little one was settled Ujuzi nudged her towards her stomach again, hoping she'd take to food this time.
She'd continue fussing over the pups like this until they settled down for sleep.

Kinye's head perked up as her mother's tongue went over the back of her head, her ears perking up a bit, before she was lifted up, causing the pup to yelp helplessly in confusion. With a slight 'oof' as she was set back down, her paws pushing out in front of her blindly, finding, indeed, she had more freedom then before.
A whine of surprise was emitted from the pup as her mother nudged her, but complied easily, being too tired and hungry to argue with the larger female, and sniffed about the curious area, soon following suit of her siblings, and settling down to feed.

Jabari lifted his head up and tried to open one eye, but saw the bright light above him and he quickly closed his eyes. Just moments ago, he had felt his mother's jaws gently pick him up and place him in an empty spot. He bumped his head against her belly and then latched on to suckle.

Content with his position, since being surrounded by warm bodies was kinda similar to being in the womb, the dirt-coloured pup stopped feeding and curled up to sleep. He was full, warm and safe. Discovering life could wait for now. Outside the den, a short distance away, Haiji paced. Ujuzi had been gone for quite a while.... Haiji knew where she had dug the den, but should she go to it? No doubt Ujuzi wanted to be alone. That's why she'd dug the hole in the first place right? But Haiji had become so close to her, she wanted to know she was alright.

Shortly after all of the pups finally really did settle, Ujuzi finally relaxed, completely. It was time to alert the rest of the pack.
She let out a soft howl, hoping the noise wouldn't be as sharp and startling to the pups, though the sounds probably came out muffled anyway to their new found hearing.

Life- a building sensation flooded across the small pup’s body, as her smooth pelt slowly rise and fell. This was new- but she liked it. She liked the movement, and she liked the warm and clouding smell of milk that filled the air. Life- she breathed it in again, and with a hushed shiver, Gin crossed her paws and bobbed her head cautiously about. Nothing to be seen- but she had never seen before, and so she did not notice it being gone.
So many bodies jostled her- it had bothered her at first, but now they were warming. Somewhat. One particular body kept kicking her in the snout, something which she bitterly took into account as she tried to roll over.
It was only the sound of her mother’s howling that caught Gin off guard. Odd- she suddenly realized she could hear.

Squeaking at the sound of his mother's voice the little ball of fur realized he could begin to hear faint sounds. The sound of his mother startled him, but he could also hear other squeaks and squeals beside him. Scooting a bit away from the bunch of his siblings he snuggled closer against Ujuzi's side, almost near her forearms.
Yawning and squeaking, already tired from being by his siblings and feeding for a bit, he snuggled up close next to Ujuzi and smiled in comfort. He knew what his mommy felt like, smelled like. He wanted to be close.

Being near the den, though not near enough to intrude, Haiji was able to hear Ujuzi's call. Her ears pricked up instantly and a moment later her own head was turned skyward as she let out a couple of responding cries. She must raise the call to inform the rest of the pack, and to let Ujuzi know she had heard it.
Her gaze now back to focusing on the direction of the original howl, she began to trot towards it, nose dipping to the ground every so often the check the scent of her packmate's trail.
At last she came to where she had seen Ujuzi digging her den and she eyed her surrounds carefully before sticking her nose into the entrance. "Ujuzi?" She whispered. "Is that you? Is everything... alright?" She could smell the blood and hear the very faint shuffling and murmers from tiny bodies.

Kengee kept watch near his loved ones, his gaze washing over his newborn children and his mate. Eleven new lives, all a part of him. He was starting to understand this 'magic of life' thing.. Even when he and Ujuzi had talked over the subject, he never imagined it would feel like this.
He swelled with pride as he looked on, eyes half-closed and his expression, though content, was written with weariness. Though certainly not as tired as Ujuzi, the male was feeling the after-effects of an anxiety discharge, as he sat atop marks clawed into the ground from his anxious pacing.
After a moment, he whined softly and stepped a little closer, daring now to come closer to Ujuzi and nuzzle her softly as if to assure her that he would be watching if she needed to sleep.
Among the pile of tiny bodies, it seemed at least one of them was certain to make himself stand out. The fourth born, this boy was no shrinking violet. He squealed and whined at the top of his tiny lungs, a high-pitched but soft cry filling the den, becoming only louder when one of his siblings chimed in with their own noises.
Poka wasn't going to be overlooked. Every time he tried to get closer to mommy's stomach, he was pushed out of the way! Despite his pawing and kicking and digging, he was ending up further from his breakfast. He wobbled along in a zigzag pattern to try and find himself an opening, as he was still not used to using his nose and not capable of using his eyes to find his target. Eventually he settled his wrinkled form near his siblings, waiting impatiently (and loudly) for his turn.
