Private Roleplay A walk in the night... ---------------------------------------- Metis was busily gnawing on the strap of the stroller. The four-armed infant didn't really register the fact that it was the strap that was keeping her safely in her seat, and it seemed like she didn't really care one way or the other. The child had a displeased look in her eyes. Not only was she uncomfortable in her strapped up prison, but her daddy had left her with this crazy woman that had insisted on taking her out. Metis' only comfort at the moment was that the woman had the sense to take her out when that annoyingly bright ball of yellow light wasn't hanging above their heads. One day, the infant decided, that fiery yellow globe would pay for its transgressions.
Arianna pushed the stroller along on occasion peering over the canopy at the top of the unhappy infant's head. The young woman sighed a bit shaking her head, "I still can't believe your father talked me into this," she murmured softly, "so much still to get done at the house and here I am watching after you..." Arianna spoke to the infant, but she was sure the child couldn't understand a word she had just said. It was just as well. At least this babysitting was for a good reason. Income had to come from somewhere, and at the moment Onuris was the source of it.
At the sound of the woman's voice behind her Metis' wings shuddered just slightly. It wasn't that the infant hated the woman (yet), but at the moment the dark haired witch was a reason for her current discomfort.

"Bethany..." Claudine eyed the girl at her feet, her eyebrow twitching just a bit. "Bethany." Her voice grew a little sharper. The girl was still at her feet playing with the ribbon that kept the slit up the side of her dress from flying everywhere in the wind. "Bethany!" She finally barked, stomping her foot and starting the teenager. The girl shrieked and fell back on her butt, scooting away a few feet before she was pulled up off the ground. The poor thing really looked terrified. "If you have the sudden desire to undress me wait until we get home!"
"Undress you?! The ribbon was uneven! I had to fix it! Why would I want to see you naked?" Bethany pouted, crossing her arms over her chest and turning around. "I'm going home! Meanie!" Claudine sighed and put a hand to her forehead, shaking her head and turning away to walk down the sidewalk. Why did she prefer women? Oh right...men were idiots. Shoving her hands into the pockets of her coat, Claudine jumped onto the wall surrounding the park so she had something to sit on where she could watch for passing people. What were the chances of that though? People didn't just walk around by themselves at night...
At least she didn't think they did. Her theory was disproven by a voice.
A female voice.
Claudine rose a brow and looked around for its source, spotting a pretty young thing pushing a...stroller!? Damnit. She just've been married...oh well. Not like that mattered. "You know, it isn't safe to be walking the streets at night around here." Claudine said casually as they passed by her, inspecting the poison ring on her finger.

Arianna had heard the disagreement float to her on the wind of the night air. She ignored it as it not being any of her business and went on walking and pushing the stroller along, but at a slightly quicker pace than she had been going a few moments ago.
The child in the stroller let out a soft whine at the quickened pace. Metis didn't really catch what was so wrong with the additional voices she had been hearing outside of the tumble and rumble of the stroller's wheels. The voices may have sounded unhappy, but the little girl didn't see why the crazy-lady had to go faster.
The young woman didn't see the figure now perched on the wall of the park, which was near an exit, where Arianna happened to be heading toward. At the sound of the voice as she passed Arianna flinched almost guiltily and paused, her breath momentarily caught in her throat. Usually she'd say something filled with wit or some sort of insight but suddenly it was all lost upon her.
Metis let out another soft whine. First the stroller was going too fast, and now it just stopped. The infant peered around and over at the wall where the voice came from. Stupid people, "Nnng!" she growled out what the infant felt was a menacing tone. It was as if the four-armed child was trying to somehow intimidate the figure just by sound alone.
Arianna stared ahead for a moment, and couldn't seem to bring herself to look over at Claudine. The sound of the unhappy infant, however, seemed to instill her with a small bit of bravery as her amethyst eyes cast a glance over at Claudine's figure. Arianna cleared her throat and calmly stated, "I am safe enough, and I am simply taking my niece home to greet her father as he gets home from work." The words rang oddly in the young woman's ears. Anna still wasn't used to referring to the little one as her niece.

Claudine eyed the child for a moment before turning back to the young lady, she was so cute! Being all brave like that! The woman toyed with one of her necklaces, frowning at the mist hanging around the black and red crystal. After a moment she looked quite smug, smirking and looking down at Arianna and Metis again. She crossed her legs and ran her tongue over her fangs, putting her hair up with a black ribbon before speaking. "Ah, I see. You must not be up on the times then." She said with a strange grin. "There've been reports of a string of deaths. The victims were drained completely of their blood from two holes, usually of their necks..." Claudine paused for a moment, then she shrugged. Her expression changed to just a casual 'I don't really care' kind of face.
"Then again, at least you're a woman. I hear the men's heads are cut off postmortem..." This girl would be lucky if she left with her virginity though. She was quite cute.

Unconsciously a hand went up protectively toward her throat, but it was doubtful that it would stop anyone from gaining access to it. Arianna was busily not looking at Claudine anymore as she put the hand back down unto the handle of the stroller, "I...I should go, Miss. My brother will worry if we are absent upon his return." It seems the vampire-woman had managed to strike an unhealthy amount of fear into her. Not only was she worried of her own welfare, but also the welfare of Metis and her brother.
Metis didn't like the tone of the conversation. From where she was seated the infant was carefully watching the perched woman, but most of all staring at the necklace that Claudine was toying with. Thus it was easy for the four-armed infant to generally ignore the conversation, or rather its tone, as her attention was truly elsewhere.
Arianna quietly twisted the handlebar of the stroller nervously as she began to move forward, "And, if what you say is true then perhaps I ought to warn my brother," she was determinedly not looking at Claudine. The other woman had quickly become a source of great discomfort for her. She was trying to come up with a plausible excuse as to why she needed to leave, and likely failing. Arianna's brother was more than capable of taking care of himself after all.

It took a lot of effort for Claudine to hold in a chuckle at how adorably perfect this girl's response to her was. She couldn't possibly hurt someone so sweet. "...You'll need an escort so you don't get hurt..." She said with an effort to make it sound off-hand. Claudine inspected her nails for a brief moment before jumping off the wall. She glanced down at the runt in the stroller before toying with her necklace again; when would the mist go away and just give her the kid?!
"Who's the kid?"

Arianna appeared to relax a bit. The young woman was just naïve enough to take Claudine's words at face value, but still she was just suspicious enough not to let her guard completely down. Arianna kept walking, but now she looked over at Claudine a small smile upon her lips, "The child is my niece. Her name is Metis," she replied softly, "My name is Arianna Vaiile," she also took the time to introduce herself as well.
It didn't take the woman long to notice the necklace Claudine she was wearing and she simply tilted her head, "Oh, you have one those necklaces, too?" she asked, "My ...niece came from something like that. I thought my brother was pulling a prank on me when he presented the child to me upon her arrival..."
Metis was staring up at Claudine for a moment or two before deciding the woman was beneath her notice for the moment and started looking over all four of her hands quietly as if trying to figure out some sort of mischief she could commit with them as soon as she could figure out how to control them all better. Every once in a while the little one would give an annoyed whine as one of the hands on what seemed to be on it's own mind twisted about at the wrist with fingertips randomly grasping at air.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Arianna" Claudine purred, fixing her dress and adjusting her coat as she walked. "I'm Claudine Voisin. Your niece is..." She paused for the briefest of seconds to think of a word. "Charming." This woman would never say cute. She casually blew a piece of hair out of her face and stuffed her hands in her pockets, only the heels of her boots making a sound as she walked.
When her necklace was mentioned she looked down at it. Oh that thing. Claudine sighed and nodded, letting it go to let it drop against her chest. "Unfortunately. I wish it would just give me the child already so I wasn't so...weak all the time." Like now. She was starting to get thirsty knowing she was walking beside a sweet little thing with blood still flowing through her. "I believe she's Hate." Claudine murmured, turning so she was walking backwards now. It's not like anything would attack them. "A very fitting child to give me, really."
The vampire gave Metis a brief glance before turning back to Arianna with a wry smile. "By the way, why are you walking? You could've easily taken a car, a taxi or even a bus." She chuckled. "It's almost like you wanted someone to get you!" How absurd~ "You couldn't have waited for a safer time? Or just stayed at your brother's house to save you all this trouble?"

Arianna smiled demurely over at Claudine while she nodded her head to the other woman politely, "The pleasure is all mine, m'Lady Voisin," she replied softly as they walked in a bit of brief silence. The young woman looked downward for a moment as she responded with a light laugh, "She is charming indeed, and she gives my brother a well deserved lesson in what it is like to raise a child." Anna has obviously started to view her niece as karma's little revenge for all the trouble he had caused her in the past while growing up together.
The young woman nodded slightly, "I am sorry that it leaves you so weak, I am sure your child will be ... born very soon," Arianna said in a tone that offered many condolences toward the troubles Claudine was currently having, "Hate you say? Ours has something to do with ... Spiders." There was a small shiver to the young woman's shoulders that suggested she had just a little bit of arachnophobia. She didn't pay much mind to Claudine's walking practices as they walked.
Metis was obviously ignoring the pair and watching the passing scenery. Her eyes were drooping closed for longer and longer periods of time until she finally nodded off into a light slumber.
Arianna blinked a bit over at Claudine and simply shrugged, "The child was restless and needed a nice soothing bit of fresh air," she offered by way of explanation, "Aside from that she doesn't seem very fond of sunlight or bright lights in general. It seemed more ideal to walk toward the afternoon or evening hours." Her amethyst colored eyes seemed to widen a bit, "Of course I do not want someone to get me! That would be dreadful," her cheeks flushed lightly.

Claudine wanted so bad to say 'No it's not, trust me!' but how subtle would that be? She couldn't stop herself from giving a breath forlorn laughter at being called 'Lady Voisin.' "It's been years since I've been called that by someone other than a maid." For once her smile was genuine, reaching over to gently tap on the girl's nose. "The pleasure truly is mine." Claudine blinked and stared at Arianna for a moment, looking down at Metis and then back up at Arianna. Oh s**t. "...I'll need a few lessons in that as well." Especially because she probably wouldn't be seeing the child for fifty percent of her lifetime.
Crossing her arms over her chest, Claudine watched Arianna silently for a good few minutes...at least it seemed like minutes. "Not weak in the sense you're thinking, I'm sure, but I appreciate the sentiment nonetheless." Her attention seemed to be caught at the way the girl behaved at the thought of spiders, a gentle smirk creeping across her lips. "Afraid of spiders?" She slowed down to get behind the girl and then drape her arms over her shoulders, resting her head on one of them to whisper in Arianna's ear. "There are things much more frightening than spiders, sweetheart." Claudine cooed, twirling away to walk backwards so she could face Arianna again.
"I can share her opinion on the sun. It's a horrid thing. It's too bright, and it burns even the strongest of beings. One can die just from being in the sun for too long! It's absurd!" The vampire shook her head with a sigh, her gaze turning back to Arianna when she spoke again. "Then it's a good thing you passed by me. I'm sure a cute little thing like you could be an easy target to predators hiding in the shadows. The baby would be easy enough to dispose of, and in a world of magic someone could probably get away with it." She wore a cocky grin on her lips now, reaching out to brush the back of her hand along Arianna's cheek bone. Her smile softened. "It would be dreadful to waste something so pretty." So much for being subtle.

The young woman glanced at Claudine for a moment and smiled a bit sadly, "I did not wish to open old wounds for you. I sometimes say things not thinking," she said softly as she pushed the stroller along. Lapsing into a momentary silence simply listening to Claudine speak her smile brightening once again ever so slightly.
She looked slightly lost at Claudine's comment about not being weak in the sense she thought of. How else could one be weak? Arianna soon lost track of her thought as she abruptly stopped for a moment her eyes widening as Claudine's lips were close to her ear whispering. The young woman blushed and her grip tightened on the handle of the stroller. Once she was released she continued walking as if she wasn't blushing or that the physical contact wasn't made at all. The young woman was still silent as she tried to suppress the idea that she had actually enjoyed the contact. After all it was improper.
The wheels clacked and rolled onwards as she just waited for her insides to stop fluttering just enough for her to speak, "The sun isn't so bad. It gives life just as much as it kills. Some plants sorely need the sunlight," Arianna countered actually sounding confident now, "I have my way of escaping," the young woman replied blushing again, "I wouldn't dare leave my niece behind."
It was something she didn't think she'd admit to out loud but she had, "I know how defend myself and the baby. My brother taught me how," again she was trying to make herself seem braver before the other woman.

Claudine smiled. "They aren't old wounds, just...pleasant memories from years gone by." She twirled a bit of hair around her finger, closing her eyes for a moment of thought. When she opened them again she reached up and took the ribbon out of her hair, letting the white fall to its full length; her head was throbbing from her hair being held up so tightly. "Thank you."
Arianna's reaction to her actions was so adorable. The vampire couldn't help but let out a bright laugh, putting her hand on the girl's to try and loosen it so it didn't break or something. When Arianna began walking again Claudine just stayed in her spot for a little while to watch her walk away, eventually hurrying after her and draping an arm over her shoulders. "You're so cute. Yes, plants need sunlight so your defense is perfectly valid. It is beautiful though. I kind of miss it." The comment was followed by a shrug, although she suddenly looked very interested when Arianna's confidence returned. "Oh? What's this way of escape?" The curiosity was genuine, and she somehow was able to keep her voice from sounding like she was mocking the other girl when she really wasn't.

Arianna blinked as Claudine thanked her and she smiled lightly, "Why do you thank me, m'Lady Voisin?" the young woman obviously didn't think she had done or said anything worthy of being thanked for. She peeked over at Claudine quietly from the corner of her eyes while they walked together. Arianna watched as Claudine let her hair down and then she looked away afraid of being caught staring at the other woman, "You look quite lovely like that, m'lady," she complimented modestly.
Her grip on the handle of the strollers loosened a touch when Claudine put her hand over hers as if the touch reminded her how tense she was being. Arianna continued to walk even as Claudine stood momentarily still.
Arianna blinked as Claudine's arm was suddenly over her shoulder and the other woman was again close at her side. The young woman blushed a bit at the comment, "I am glad to be of amusement to you," there was a small ounce of chill to her tone suggesting that perhaps Claudine was bordering upon insulting with some of her commentary, "Why do you miss the sun?" she asked her tone softening and again showing her innocence and how naive she really was. Arianna turned her head to look over at Claudine only to find that a side of the other woman's face exposed. There was a moment of hesitation and then she stopped and planted a kiss upon Claudine's cheek before she could pass by as she would likely keep going not expecting her to stop.
Once satisfied with her act of bravery and obviously avoiding the question put to her she moved forward again. Arianna's head held high and proud.
Metis, meanwhile, twitched in her sleep. Dreaming about whatever it is young babes such as her dream of...

"Because you're the first person in a very long time who didn't have to be reminded ahead of time of my old title from waaaaaay back when." Claudine twirled a bit of Arianna's hair around her finger, stumbling a little when she heard the girl's compliment about her. That was unexpected! The vampire ran a hand through her hair and eyed the girl beside her with a curious gaze, eventually giving a tiny smile and getting over it. It was just an opinion; it didn't mean anything.
The woman sighed a little after noticing the tone in Arianna's voice, playfully tapping her nose with her free hand. "I apologize. My intention isn't to offend you, dear." She said, her airy disposition falling into a much more subdued one at Arianna's question. Claudine glanced at the girl in the corner of her eye, forcing a smile and running her hand up along her arm. "I'm surprised you never noticed how cold I was. I can never go out into the sun, dearest Arianna. Can you guess why?" Claudine flashed a toothy grin, the grin suddenly fading to allow her expression to go from amused to completely shocked.
What'd just happened?
They were walking...and then Arianna had stopped, Claudine figured she'd wanted to say something or she'd done something wrong, but then there'd been a very soft pair of lips against her cheek. The woman stopped dead in her tracks with her hand on the kissed cheek, staring after Arianna with her jaw dropped and her eyes wide.
Seriously! What had just happened?!
She could've handled that better, but she needed time to adjust to that. Arianna looked to be yards away before Claudine finally came to her senses and appeared behind Arianna again, draping her arms over the girl's shoulders like she had earlier and resting her head against hers. "You sneaky vixen." She purred softly against Arianna's ear, keeping pace with her. Now she could stop being so subtle.

While she was momentarily separated from Claudine, she took a moment to glance around to check for landmarks. They had been walking for quite a while and undoubtedly she was getting closer to home. Not that Arianna wanted to rush to get home, but she didn't wish to miss it either. After recollecting herself she took a moment to check on the sleeping child only to find golden eyes staring back up at her in curiosity. Arianna blinked and shivered a bit pushing the stroller's hood back forward after having pulled it back to do her checking.
The four armed one was no longer asleep. In fact she was starting to get hungry and was starting to become somewhat fussy so as to alert someone to that fact. Metis began crying when food wasn't presented to her straight away.
Arianna sighed a bit and it was right then Claudine had rejoined her again the young woman glanced over at the vampire blushing again, "Sneaky vixen? First time I have been called that," she laughed lightly despite the crying child, "My home is near here, if you wish to come in for a moment. I am afraid the child is a bit hungry," she said as if to explain why the baby was currently fussing. Twice now Arianna had managed to avoid explaining herself by answering questions put to her.
