Shadowdome Courtyard
The Shadowdome is visible for quite some distance before ever approaching it, though it is almost nothing like the Auradome in appearance.
It is a tall, black, almost castle-like creation that resonates of evil before you even enter. Many black spires and turrets leave the castle, holding places for esteemed members of the audience, though you are left with a strange feeling that these special seats might not be available for this tournament. The entire castle has the cold feeling of death about it with red flags flying from each turret. The very grass around the Shadowdome has withered and died of its own accord and there are no animals to be seen anywhere near it. This is truly a place of evil.
In this courtyard before you reach the Shadowdome, there are many evil-looking plants . . . even a random fly that comes by meets its death by a Venus Fly-trap. Poisonous plants crawl up the concrete basin of a fountain, but instead of water, there is a black, bubbling, toxic-looking substance. No coins will be thrown cheerily into this pond; it, as with everything else around the Shadowdome, reeks of death.
Only the bravest may even enter to watch; the most courageous are the only ones capable of fighting . . . who will even venture to the courtyard of the Shadowdome?

Kenjin, his mother, and his little twin siblings Dawn and Twilight stood before the entrance of the Shadowdome. The twins buried their heads and huddles close to their mother whimpering.
"I never thought I'd see the Death Dragon arise." Hero murmured quietly as she tried to comfort her children. "I've heard stories about him, a powerful creature. The Purest of Darkness."
"All the more reason why I must fight in the tournement." Kenjin said, his voice holding no emotion.
"You can't!" Came a small voice. Kenjin turned around and found his little sister Destiny running toward him. "You mustn't fight! Please, Kenjin, you can't fight him, he's to powerful! If you do fight him, he'll kill you! Skalis is trapped within Dassan's body, if you don't die first, you could do serious damage to him!"
"I've got to do it, Destiny, it's my duty not only as the Light Drake but because I'm Watcher. It's what I'm suppose to do. My honor is at stake."
"You only want to do it because you want to be a hero!" Destiny shot back. "It has nothing to do with honor or duty, you just want to prove to everyone that you're stronger to make up for your loss! Are you willing to die to prove something so stupid?!"
"Enough!" Kenjin roared his eyes flashing red. "My mind is made up, I'm fighting." then without another word he turned around and marched inside.
"Mother!" Destiny cried turning to Hero. "Stop him! Please! He's going to get himself killed!"
"I would like to," Hero said gently, careful to choose her words. "But you should let Fate take its corse. Even though in the end it would all be up to you."

A now-grown Aiden leans against a tree in the courtyard, frowing as Spike and Yami pass. Save their father? I doubt he even still remains . . . he thought with sadness. His skin shimmered even in this bright light as he shifted his weight. It was a tragedy, really, that all of Drake life, possibly their very existance, rested on this tournament. The Shimmer youth simply hoped that he could prove as great a fighter as his father. With a resigned sigh and one last glance at the exterior of the forbidding-looking building, he went inside.
Hanna walks up rather dubiously to the forbidding building. She's always been rather timid, but . . . Flor couldn't fight in the tournament, due to this mysterious Bastien that had suddenly returned from out of no where, and Tornando forbid Elysia to take part in the tournament, so Hanna felt almost duty-bound to at least try, with two of her family forbidden from the tournament. She supressed a shiver and walked rather skiddishly into the Shadowdome.
Harry was waiting for Alex and, it was rumored, Bastien to arrive. The award from the Auradome was pinned to his shirt, but was hidden mostly under his robes; he didn't want to advertise his champion status, really. It would probably only make Dassan want to kill him more. Still . . . he was also awaiting Draco's arrival; he hadn't seen his previous arch-enemy's name on the registration list, but he doubted that the Shadow Drake would give up a free chance at Dassan.
Harry had been out of touch with Adele and Kaiden, and was beginning to get very worried about them. He wouldn't stop Kaiden from entering if he wished but, really, he'd prefer if Adele wouldn't fight . . . the brute had already threatened his sister . . . he didn't want him anywhere near his mate.
Harry had, however, prepared himself well for the upcoming battles. he had bought items that would make him stronger and more durable, and maybe even give him a tad bit more endurance. He only hoped that they would help.

As Kaiden slipped through the ones milling about outside, purposely ignoring his father in his attempts to quickly get inside, Drathir drew up near Harry. He could still recall the day when Harry had been sent over here. Drathir had been merely a young child, just grown, when everything surrounding this Harry had come to an end. Drathir let his single eye hesitate on the scar on Harry's forehead before he came to a stop in front of him. "Harry." he said with a little nod. The two had met occasionally, when he and Adele had come to Alma's house with their two twin sons. Drathir had never gotten to know Harry very well, but he had immediately grown close to the twins. "How are you?"

Harry smiled and nodded at the fellow Fire Drake. He vaguely remembered him from Home, but . . . he had tried to erase any and all memories of the place.
Doing well . . . I was hoping to run into Kaiden . . . he's seemed troubled lately and I wanted to check up on him, just to make sure he's alright. Girls got his tounge? he asked Drathir, acting perhaps a little too lightly for how little they knew each other. Still, the stress of the past few days had been enough to mellow him out considerably and he didn't much care anymore.

Kaen peeked into the courtyard. Now he was really having seconds thoughts about entering. He probably wouldn't even know anyone, and get defeated on the first fight. All the others here were probably adults, not to mention confident and/or ridiculously strong. He was SO screwed.
Terribly, horrendously screwed. S-C-R-E-W-E-D. Sighing, the young acid drake sat against a wall (being mindful of the meat-eating plants) and began to work on, you guessed it, a logic puzzle. They helped calm him down.

Drathir couldn't help but smile as he ran a hand through his dark blue hair. Kaiden hadn't spoken to him too much, but he could've sworn that he had heard the younger one muttering about destiny and the like. Perhaps he thought it was destiny for him to become mates with some girl? "I wouldn't know. I haven't been able to see him very much these past days." Of course he hadn't been able to see Kaiden. He had been too busy searching for a particular Earth drake, one who had captured all of his thoughts. "I think he's inside, though, most likely with Aiden." He turned a little to scan around the landscape. "Looking for someone?"

Namine sighed as she, Gabriella, and Hateshi approached the castle. Just moments ago, Roxas was at their home. He was preparing for the tournament and despite his lack of experience, Roxas assured her and their mother that he would be alright. 'Roxas," Namine whispered to herself,"Please be careful. I'll watch you and cheer you on, but you need to be aware that you will be fighting more powerful drakes."
Gabriella munched on a Sea Salt ice cream as she held Namine's hand. She knew that Roxas was inside the creepy and dank castle, but didn't know why. She looked up at her older sister, Gabrella's temptation to ask building up every moment that they stood there. However she noticed that Namine's eyes were sparkling meaning that she was close to tears. So instead, Gabriella hugged Namine's waist.
Hateshi was sitting on Namine's other arm, which held him firmly. He too, stared at the dark castle that had a feeling of utter chaos and death. His thoughts started to wonder what this feeling was, and why it bothered him so much. If only I were a child Hateshi thought or a little older, then maybe I could understand why.

A young girl moved into the courtyard in almost a stealthy fashion. she didn't wish to be seen by her family, not yet. Her eyes darted this way and that and she clutched her staff a little tighter. No doubt she would have to use it before this day was over. She sucked in a deep breath of air in an attempt to calm her nerves before another drake her age caught her eye. She blinked, studying said drake. She couldn't recall seeing him before...and what was that that he was working on? Catriona moved slowly before she leaned against the wall beside him and glanced at the puzzle. "What's that?"

Kaen's head jerked to the new voice. He was too highly-strung. Nervous. Just what was needed before fighting. Letting out a sigh, he answered, "It's a logic puzzle." He debated adding more, as he always did, but didn't, as he always did. Ah well.

Catriona gave a little nod of her head before she shifted to look down at the puzzle once again. "It looks complicated." She had never been any good with things like that. After all, Linath was the extremely intelligent and logical one in the family. It took her a moment before she realized that she was forgetting her manners. "Oh! Excuse me. I'm Catriona. I don't believe I've met you before." She shuffled back a bit and offered her hand in greeting, along with a small smile.

Kaen sighed. It kind of was... "Hello Catriona. I don't think we've met before, as I'm quite new. My name is Kaen." He returned both the smile and the handshake. "Are you here for a ...'tournament' of some sort?" She was really the only other kid he saw here.

Catriona shook his hand before releasing it and dropping her own arm to her side again, holding her staff close to her as if it was a comfort blanket of some sort. In all reality, it really was. What else was she to rely upon if she ended up being all alone here in the tournament? Her musings brought her back to reality, and his question. "Yes, I am...I'm here to fight alongside my sister and brother-in-law to bring down this...Dassan." Her eyes were filled with courage, and her chin lifted high, before she offered another small smile. "And you?"

"That's very..." he paused, looking for the right word, "...noble." That was a good word. "I'm here for it as well. I wish to learn about this 'Dassan' that everyone speaks so poorly of." It seemed so...brain-controlled, whether than heart-controlled. But then again....wasn't he more a brain-controlled person?
