In order to keep it away from the main thread, I've decided to make a new thread where we can discuss E3 2005, the next-gen systems, new games, etc.

My person view on E3 2005

To be perfectly honest, I was expecting a lot more out of all three companies. Especially Microsoft seeing as how their system is coming out this year. All three press conferences were okay, but certainly not what I was looking for. Microsoft's seemed to be the MTV special redeux except with tech demos, Sony seemed to "brag" about their specs with few examples of what they could actually do and Nintendo didn't focus on their Revolution as I was hoping for. Granted they kept their conference in the same style as always, but I was disappointed in the lack of Revolution information.

I'm excited to see updates to the new Zelda game along with a title The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess, I'm also hyping one of the first next-gen games, the game being Full Auto which is Twisted Metal on speed. The game looks flat out fun. I'm very excited to hear about Hideo Studios, I can't wait to see what Hideo and his new studio is going to do for us. I'm also anticipating more information about the game Mistwalker is doing for Microsoft.

However, all-in-all E3 wasn't the E3 I thought it was going to be, I'm kind of disappointed, I was hyping this year as one of, if not the, best E3 ever... But I felt it didn't live up to its expectations. Granted it was nice to know about all the next-gen systems and their games, along with updates of games that were shown last year but it just wasn't what I was looking for.

What the bloody hell -are- the Revolution specs anyway?

And to jump topics a little bit, is it just me, or does the PS3 have all the specs to be a wireless router?

Nobody knows the specs for the Revolution, Nintendo stated that they will be giving out the specs before the end of the year.

I didn't really follow all of PS3's specs, maybe Stream could answer the wireless router question.

Ahh...Nintendo. I can't wait to see what they've got going with the Revolution. The mystery around the REvolution is a sales tactic =X It piques the curiosity...

Never really got into Xbox, so there's really a very slim chance that I'll look into it at all. I AM planning on getting a PS3, just because I'd been waiting for it to come out for a while... My friend told me to get one of those instead, because it's able to play PS/PS2 games, too. Then again, I'll be really behind on everything... Watch me talk about Final Fantasy X-2 while people go, "OMG NOOB. NO one plays that anymore. It's all about Final Fantasy XXVII."

Hah.

But yeah. Man. PS3 is one sexy-looking console, though. The controller looks so...comfortable. +w+

I'm neutral on the PS3. I mean, I want one, but I can do without for a bit. Wait until it gets cheaper and gets better controllers.

..I would love it, if it was free.

I'm slowly beginning to not care about gaming really, but all in all the new consoles have some nice power specs so far, but I'm reserving judgement for how well they make use of said specs. I don't really care how they look, but I'm not one for console asthetics really. If it plays the game, I dont' care if the damn thing dances and sings folk songs, is neon pink, and moons me whenever I start sucking at a game.

Wow....that little explosion of banality just killed a knocker somewhere!
I wasn't all that impressed with the showings this year either, but unlike you guys I was the least impressed with the new nintendo system...They really need to start bringing in some other titles so that it's not the same old Zelda/Smash Bros/Mario Kart joy ride it's been for the last ten years (no offense meant, and in nintendo's favor I'll say that resident evil 4 is one of the finest graphical showpieces I've ever seen on a console). I miss the glory days when third parties where tripping all over themselves to make games for nintendo...I'd really like them to win me back but I don't see it happening. That said the new Zelda game looks damn fine! stressed
The thing that excites me most about Nintendos new piece of kit is the rumor that you will be able to purchase nintendo, snes, n64, ad gamecube games from online through the system itself and download them onto internal memory....chrono trigger, ogre battle, breath of fire, Final fantasy 2 and 3...if it has that capability I might just invest....
But my lot is still cast with the PS3. Sony just owns too much of the market.
