Problem... I don't speak Japanese, and I'm really really curious about what it says in the upper left-hand corner.

Would anyone mind putting the non-calligraphic kanji/kana up, the romaji for it, and a translation? It's asking a lot, I know... But if you help me out, I'll... um... give you a cookie...?

It says Japanese, but it doesn't look like it has any kana at all. That's why I said it looked more like Chinese. But I also haven't seen Japanese in that form. (I forget if it's still called calligraphic or something else.)
