The wind was blowing, and bringing in with it the fall. Weeks would still need to pass before the colors started to change, but he could already feel the changing seasons in his bones. Reflectivly, he rose his head, and faced the shifting grasses and moving trees, and furrowed his brow. A year had passed, if it was autumn soon again. It seemed like a lifetime ago, that he and Amelie had been in an exodus- and almost like a haphazard dream his old country, his father, his children, the war- had it really all happened? It made him feel older. Two years since passed, and nothing had really changed. Ryukkii still lived, although to what threads of life she clung to he didn’t know. She could probably live a while longer yet on bitterness, but he had hoped the winter months ahead would claim her justly.
Gareth had joined him now, as had his niece Cassidy- Gareth even seemed happily settled down with the lovely Mozelle, and Cassidy making eyes at one of his guards. So many things happened in a year to make it feel like this was the only world he’d known. But it wasn’t, and the aged feeling of the earth and himself made him sink somewhat.
But he was thinking too hard, and with a faint grunt, the black wolf stretched. The wind was still drifting around, and with it, Phib caught the faint scents of others. Some were far off- but a few seemed closer then usual. He was almost on the freelands now, although the scent of the earth still carried the salty tinge of the sea. He didn’t feel quite like leaving yet- but he hung on the borders to see what blew it’s way in his direction.
------------------
The black femme walked slowly, her head hung low and her paws dragging along the ground. She had no reason to look as she did apart from the feeling of lonliness but to her that wasn't a reason either, nothing ever was.
Her blue eyes stared at the ground as her mind wandered over strange and mostly random things in her mind. She wasn't special, nothing seperated her from other wolves apart from maybe the pink on her tail and ears. She was yet to see another wolf with pink on her and she felt somewhat ashamed to even have such a strange and random colour on her.
She raised her maw to the sky to let her mind wander to the beauty the sky created, it was then she caught the scent of another. She was alarmed slightly and for the first time started to think a little more rationally. She wasn't use to packs and where you can and can't go, she was born a rouge and lived a rouge not knowing the real life of a normal wolf.
Maybe it was the light around them, or something else but she couldn't see the black wolf no matter how hard she looked. Maybe that was a good thing for her but she continued walking unknowingly into anothers land.
------------------
The scent danced across his muzzle, alerting his attentions. A female- he knew that scent well. It was sweet and tugged at him- although by the newness of it, it smelled of youth. Precariously the long male stepped forward, passing across a flowering bush which smelt strongly, and over onto the other side of the deer slump. For a second, he saw a flash of pink and black.
Audi? He thought, and blinked the pale green of his eyes. The scent wasn’t recognizable as hers; and the posture certainly wasn’t that of the upstart young female. This one was slower and sluggish, and it didn’t take him more then a few footfalls to catch up with her. A young black creature, her head and body slunk downwards.
It really did resemble the other female, and Phib had to wonder for a moment if his old friend had had another litter of misbegotten children. But the timing was wrong, and he didn’t smell any of the usual signs on her. Perhaps a coincidence? He hated coincidences.
“Hello there, my dear.” He spoke, his ears swinging forward. He was standing behind her- and hoped that the sudden voice wouldn’t startle her.
-------------------
She wasn't alert, so much that she didn't hear the black wolf come up behind her. She was too much of a dreamer and had been nicknamed that once or twice before but no that wasn't her name, though she wished it.
She shook her head at what she thought was a sound and continued to let her mind wander untill the voice hit her, it was clear and not imagined. It startled her a little, but she turned to face the black wolf slowly, looking upto him she felt rather small.
"Hello there." She spoke quietly and softly. There wasn't much emotion in her voice and she rarely raised her voice above a whisper. She wasn't much of a speaker, she never had others around to talk to!
-------------------
Her voice was soft, and unintrusive. Not Audi for sure, but he appreciated the resemblance and the quieter tone. He didn’t know if he could handle the sharp voice just yet. Phib’s head craned affectionately, and he looked the female over. She had the body of a vagabond- somewhat disheveled, and he couldn’t smell any other wolves on her. Her lack of speech also tipped him off that she might not have been used to talking to others.
Another soft burst of wind, and he let it quiet before speaking again. “It seems the winds have blown you down. I am Phib.” he spoke in a rather self-dignified manner, his ears pivoting forwards. His tail he kept level; there was no reason to arch it.
“Are you heading somewhere?” He remarked, a faint smile crossing his broad snout.
-------------------
She kept her tail low and it was edging on being between her legs, she was always nervous around others. She tried to keep her posture at least presentable but the wolf in front of her seemed powerful and had scars to prove it.
"I am Soot, some call me Dreamer though." She wasn't quite sure what he meant about the wind blowing her down but she just pretended she understood by nodding slightly.
"No, I don't really head anywhere. No one to see, no where to go. I wander, maybe one day I will find somewhere accepting." She could speak, as this showed, though it was still quiet. She saw the smile and let one cross her white maw though it was a little crooked as she was incredibly nervous.
--------------------
“Soot?” He questioned. No, not a name he knew. Nor was her nickname...although, it did paint an image about the kind of wolf she was. He was easily fond of females, and carefully he took a few steps forward, his ears somewhat docked as he considered her situation.
“So much wandering for one so young.” The male reflected. It wasn’t the first time he’d seen a young wolf on it’s own- although he always felt concerned by it. “I’m afraid you’re running out of earth.” With a swing of his head, he faced the directions of his lands, and the path she was heading. “The ocean is just down that way about a few miles down. There’s no way to get passed that point.”
It seemed to be that a lot of wanderers ran out of places to go in this place, himself included. “You’re more then welcome to rest here, if you’d like.”
---------------------
She nodded a little as he repeated her name. She stepped back a little as he stepped forward though. She had never had a bad experiance with another wolf but she was always weary, just in case.
"I have never seen the ocean before. I expect it would be a lovely sight even if I could get no further." She paused as he finished what he had to say and she smiled a little, her ears pricked up a little.
"Would there be any restrictions on how long I may stay? I don't know much about how most wolves live being on my own and I am guessing, by the way you speak, you own this land?" She was a curious little thing, even if she was quiet. You could learn more being quiet then you could being loud.
---------------------
“I own it as much as any wolf can own land.” he remarked. An odd thing to say, even for him- and he considered it somewhat. He hated to think he was getting whimsical in his old age. He shook it off and dismissed it. “Yes, it is my land. From about here to the sea, and miles to either side. Actually- we’re growing a bit larger. Probably we’ll absorb another mile this way as well...” he half mused, focused on the planning.
Her next question caught his attention, and as he swung his head around, he was somewhat struck by her look. So much like Maya. Maybe he thought that of any young female- but, she had always been bit of a dreamer herself. It brought a slight frown to his face, although he sent it away before he continued.
“You may stay however long you’d like.” Phib spoke. “We’re not lacking in food, and there are plenty of paws to help around. You are more then welcome here if you’d like to visit the sea.”
---------------------
She listened to him, confused slightly as he seemed to be talking to himself more then he was actually talking to her. She listened politely though and just nodded, pretending that she understood what he was saying.
"Thank you for allowing me to stay. It would be nice to meet others, if I am allowed that is?" She was nervous, she had never been in a packs lands, or at least known she was. She didn't know what to do.
