Alright so I am a hardcore fan, and, I really don't see why Final Fantasy VII appeals so greatly. I mean, yes, it is a good game. But there are better ones. It is hard to choose out of such a wide array of great games, but I think FFX is much better, even if the voice actors aren't as good as you would have hoped. The storyline is magnificent, and the graphics are amazing. I don't understand people who say it is just a pretty and cute game, that they didn't care about gameplay.

Also about FFX-2, what does everyone have against it? I thought the battle system was fun and the plot nice too, what is so bad about it? And what is so good about Final Fantasy VII?

the ending of X-2 Is basically : "Let's go find Vegnagun and Shuyin. They have to be down here!"
You find it, and kill it. End of the game.

FFVII has one of the most amazing story lines of all games created.
It was in the top ten of the best games world wide.
They have four related games to it, and a movie.
AND Square-Enix WAS considering making it for the PS3, so it would have amazing grahpics, great voices and the same great storyline.
But they decided to cancel this.

then you didn't look hard enough or understand well enough. If you found everything that was hidden in that game you'd know that there was a lot more going on than they let on. Just like they actually are, secrets must be saught out to be known.

There are SO many facets to the storyline in that game that none of the others that were made after it can appeal as greatly. X and X-2 were SOOO predicatble throughout the entire game and FF7 kept you wondering what actually happened seven years before until you finally find out that Cloud himself is a lie... and that's only a character development and not the main story which includes that as well as so many other elements into it.

Actually I thought that FFVII was pretty much a bore when I played it, I I didn't get as much of a rush as I did the others. I liked I and II a lot better, and the storyline of VII, isn't all that mysterious and unpredictable as you think it is.

If you mean by "playing the game and not finding the story to be interesting"
You either dont like common rpgs, or you rush through the game, which i can do in 41.5 hours.

Actually all I play are rpgs, and I'm only saying that VII didn't grab me as some of the others did. It was something I could just leave and come back to later, with the others, it was like I had to be playing it all of the time.

i loved X-2, but i'd still say VII was better. despite the huge upgrade in the graphics, FFVII was more gripping in my opinion. perhaps it has something to do with your age. FFVI(aka FF3) and VII had much more mature settings and storylines than any of the others.

there are plenty of great points of each game, but VII's story just grabbed me. not quite as much as FFVIII's did though.

Well I'm not gonna try to convinvce you to reconsider your vedict of FFVII any more but rather just ignore that to ask you about some of the other Square RPGs...... (and yes I know that the Xeno games have been turned over to Namco.....

What did you think of Star Ocean: Til the end of time? or Xenogears/sagas?

Star Ocean: Til the End of Time and Xenosaga 1 are still sitting in my collection waiting to be played. So no comment.

I liked FFX-2's battle system, it was fast and furious, but of course, I didn't do thousands of points of damage with the gunner a shot, but I still liked it. The story was pretty pathetic, seeing how it was "I miss him and I'll find him". Then it turns to "Stop the man I thought was him"

FFVII's story was good, quite the good plot twists, but of course, it's just more or less overrated now for AC and now DoC, and the possiblity of a remake. Still a good game though.

Well having played through both of those I can say that they are very worth it, though, I enjoyed Star Ocean more.... and it's deffinately better then it's predicessors.... the other star ocean games were horrible. As for X-2... I can't say I really liked any of it.... I guess I just don't enjoy playing dress up as much as the next guy. FFVII will always be one of my favorites and with it I'll take AC... but NOT DoC... I didn't like that game.... as for the remake if it happens it will immediately be added to my collection. and if they don't... then I'll still be happy wih the OG FFVII

wow im so glad that some other person in this guild really liked star ocean, that is definatley one of my favorite rpgs! i really like the xenosaga series too, other than the drastic change in looks from I to II, that really bummed me out.
but anyways, i liked ffVII, and i agree that it has a really good storyline. also the battle system in x-2 was ok, but the storyline was rediculously stupid in my opinion. it was completely linear, and there was absolutely no useful addition onto the previous storyline. i would have been happier if they just left x by itself!
