-The tiny blue and grey pup stood above the ground tenatively, a bizarre pose and sight to anyone that might happen upon her.
She wanted to dig, because it was a fun game. Seeing if you could find any treasures in the dirty below.. feeling the cool earth shift beneath her nails. And yet, the way she did it was strange, digging with one paw, before she'd shake it off, digging with the other. A strange little pattern as she tried to dig without getting dirty. A task that was slow and silly, but for the moment it kept her entertained, her tail swaying back and forth very slowly.-

Scrape.
Something hit the small grey pup on the side, bringing him closer to the brink of wakefulness. Still, he struggled to keep sleeping. It was so warm here in the sun, and the grass was so soft... he snuggled deeper and hid his nose beneath a small tail.
Scraaaape..
Mati crinkled his nose as a particularily large clod of dirt struck his face. Giving up on sleeping for now, the pup yawned and toddled unsteadily to his feet. His blue eyes focused on his youngest sister Cascata, and then on the steadily growing hole beneath her feet. For a moment his emotions warred between irritation at being woken up and eagerness to join in.
"Whacha diggin' Cassy?" Eagerness won out and he pounced on his sister, buring them both in a pile of loose dirt.
((I don't know if you want a nickname for her, but I can change it if you do/don't. 8D ))

((Nope that's fine. XD Everyone calls her something. Cas, Casca, Cassy. It's all good. biggrin ))
-Dig dig dig dig. She continued on her task, oblivious of her disruption of her siblings sleep. As her brother's voice sounded, her ears flicked upwards, but it was too late.
Collapsing under the pounce, she gave a soft howl of displeasure as she felt the soft dirt squish against her, knowing quite well what a hassle it was going to be to get it all off. But finally she giggled, trying to shake him off of her despite her tiny size, preceding in doing nothing more then wiggling a bit.- "Just digging a hole. Looking for treasures."
"Wanna help?" -Already her tail was beginning to wag at the thought of help in the task.-

Mati allowed Cascata to struggle out from under him, flopping onto his back with a grin on his face. The dirt beneath him was cool and soft, and he squirmed until his coat was a dusty brown.
"Treasure?" Mati's ears pricked in excitement. "Like pretty stones, or bones, or... or... bugs?"
Wow! He'd never dug for treasure before! The grey pup scrambled to his feet and bounded over to Cassy's side. "Of course I wanna help!"
Mati paused for a moment then, and glanced at her sideways. "We hafta protect the treasure we find though." He grinned. "Otherwise, the bad things will get it." He didn't really know what the bad things were, but there was always something trying to steal treasure, wasn't there?

-When finally the weight slipped from her back, she pushed herself up, giving a swift shake, watching the dirty fall from her. Before giving another shake, and another one. Gotta get the icky stickey dirties off.-
"Yep! Just like that." -She nodded enthusiastically, trying to peek back at her hole.- "I bet we'll find double the treasure with two of us working Mati!"
"I have a place that I hide all my stuff. We can just put it there or we can find a new one for our treasure if you want." -Cas already had a collection of sorts starting. Mostly flowers, a few stones and feathers. But she wasn't worried about divulging the information. They were family after all! And families were for loving and sharing.
Speaking of which, she padded for quickly, placing a sloppy lick of greeting against his cheek, visibly making a face when the soft taste of dirt transfered to her tongue.- "You wanna dig in the same hole? Or have two holes?"

Mati made a face as his sister licked him, but secretly he was pleased. After all, what was there beyond family? He didn't know what he would do without them. "Oh, I'm sure you have a great hiding spot!" He nuzzled her, reframing from kissing. " At least, I haven't found it yet."
He tilted his head, ears flopping, as he studied the hole and the ground beside the fresh-turned earth. "I suppose," he spoke cautiously, " that it would be faster to dig two holes!"
Two holes, twice the size, more treasure! Sounded good. "Besides, I might hit you with dirt, an' I know you don't like that." He grinned innocently at her, as though he'd never even considered doing such a thing on purpose. Never, of course not.
"C'mon! Let's go!" With energy born of youth and excitement he began to dig, tiny claws scraping against the soft forest earth.

-A pleased and toothy grin touched her with the mild praise, and she nodded in soft agreement. She'd show him afterwards. It wasn't very far at all. Truthfully it scared her to wander off too far on her own. Her ears perked gently at his 'warning'.-
"Well..... as long as it's not on purpose.." -Cascata trailed lightly, she couldn't begrudge him if it were an accident after all. But as his claws soon began to tug at the earth, she slipped to the other side of her hole, so that the two pups faced each other. There, that'd make it real hard for her to get hit.
Settling back into the task, she started first by slowly trying to dig up the little bit that'd fallen back in during the earlier pounce, tail beginning to sway at that familar and contented rhythm.- "I'm sure we'll find something special today!"

Digdigdigdig - rock? rock! - Mati grabbed the stone in his teeth and dropped it next to the hole to look at later. It was coated with dirt and decomposing leaves, but he thought it might be pretty underneath...
His small white-tipped tail wagged furiously as he scraped at the earth. The pup noted his sister's choice in digging spot and smiled slightly, but didn't comment on it. "Yeah, we'll find something awesome!" Mati agreed, maw gaping in a grin. "An' maybe we can find somethin' for Momma too." Like a pretty bug or a crystal...
Well, he wasn't really sure what Momma liked, but they would find something. He was positive.
"Cassy, didja get anything yet?" His little legs were begining to burn from the effort of digging but he wasn't ready to stop yet. His hole was still so small! "I've only found one rock an' some beetles." He wrinkled his nose in distaste as dirt sprayed up in his face. "Ack!"

-Her attempt went much slower with her cautious digging. A tiny bit of root, which while very cool looking, she'd already learned was near impossible to pull out of the ground. So she continued on digging, pulling the dirt up behind her.
Her ears twitched softly with his idea, nodding her head excitedly, but when he asked about her booty, a soft whine touched her.- "Just a root and some wiggley worms so far."

Mati immediatly regretted asking his sister, she seemed so sad about not finding anything. Well, he thought worms were pretty cool. They didn't taste too good, but they were fun to play with!
"Worms?" He toddled over to her hole and peered in. "Where? I wanna see!"
Momma might want to play with them too, so they could save them with the rest of their treasure!

-Her ears perked softly with his interest, and she debated picking up the worms. Though the thought of their wriggling and dirty bodies slippering around in her mouth really didn't seem too thrilling or wanted.
But luckily enough her brother had already made his way to her side by then and was peeking on her own. So she dipped her own head back in again, glancing back and forth between the couple of worms attempting to wriggle back into the ground, having been jostled out by her digging.-
"See um?" -She smiled cheekily, wriggling her own body in amusement.- "They're silly buggies. I mean how do they get around without legs?"

"I see 'um!" They squirmed across the fresh earth and tried to burrow deeper, but he dug them out again. Mati glanced at his sister. "I don't know how they move though..."
The grey pup's eyes narrowed as he studied the bugs, then he grinned. With diliberate movements he layed down in the dirt and tucked his legs beneath his body. There! Just like a worm!
"Maybe it's like... this!" Mati squirmed furiously from side to side, doing his best not to use his legs. It was harder than it looked! He'd barely gone anywhere when he gave up, panting and laughing. "Well, maybe not."

-A bubbling of giggles errupted from her, and she hopped around him as he attempted the feat. He didn't look quite like worms but kind of. Barking cheerfully with his words she mused pleasantly.- "But you did move! You just didn't move very much. Maybe cause your body isn't long enough?"
-Glancing back into the hole she poked delicately at one of the critters to get it to wiggle again.- "They can wiggle bigger wiggles I think."
"Maybe momma is big enough? She's much longer then we are."

"Maybe that is it!" After all, the worms were very long! And wet, and white and gross! The grey pup grinned and wagged his small tail furiously.
"The spend forever wigglin' so they must be better at it." Mati nodded sagely. "It must be hard to get around." He watched the worms for a little longer, pondering Cascata's suggestion about Momma.
"I bet she is!" He chimed. "We should ask her!"

"Kay!" -An excitedly little bark escaped her, half tugging her to want to go track down their mother right this moment.
But the dirt that decorated bits of her brother's pelt brought their task back to mind, and she turned to him, tail wagging.- "Should we look for some more treasures first? I think worms might get away if we put them in my hiding place. Too much dirty around!"
-Her eyes widened suddenly, a look of astonishment touching her.- "Matiiiii... How do worms DIG into the ground if they don't have paws and legs!?"
