She'd put up a good fight, Ausi'Juu. She'd tried so hard to stay up and make sure that Xu had someone to keep an eye on her while the rest of the family (Daimyn, Ai, No, and Choa) slept on. Jing had been awakened at some point by his sister's meandering about, around the same time that Ausi was, so he'd decided to be a good big brother and play with her while mother watched. But mother was sleeping now, unintentionally having drifted off sometime before the sun was anywhere near rising on the horizon. Jing had watched, fascinated, as his primary caretaker first began to nod off, eyes stubbornly drooping closed-- they looked awfully heavy all of a sudden! --only to reluctantly open again. Clearly she was having trouble doing so, though.
A great yawn or two marked the seconds and minutes between, and finally when she closed her eyes that last time her body would not allow them to reopen.
Now, Jing'Fei was a smart boy, if not still young. He knew that they weren't supposed to be wandering away from their mother's line of vision. He was curious however, curious like Choa, to see what it was that Xu saw on those rare ocassions that she slipped away from the den.
He'd fallen still, staring at their sleeping mother's contrasting dark form like a cub who'd caught sight of something he wasn't sure if he should pounce or climb on. Surely Xu would notice that her brother had stopped in the middle of their quiet game.
~Should we go, or shouldn't we go? If mom wakes up and finds us gone she might get mad that we went off on our own...~

-It's not like she'd been waiting for the mom to fall asleep. In fact she loved the fact that her mother tried so hard, the soft comfort of eyes watching over her as she played about the cave. She was aware that her sleeping was weird.. but it was never enough to bother the little star, she'd simply come up with many quiet and solitary games to play, and gone about her playing until finally sleep would lull her alongside her parents. Usually when the stars began to fade.
Tonight however she'd be blessed enough to even have her brother awake and playing with her. And as mother finally drifted away, her tiny paws carried her to her brother, nipping at his ear with a tug before she whisper softly.- "We should play outside so we don't wake them up!"

Jing felt his ear tugged, and flicked it back to it's rightful position as his baby sister released it again. Looking to her with his calm eyes, he seemed to finally agree with a nod.
"Good idea,"
Yeah, they didn't have to go far, right? And Mom would be proud of them for being considerate of their sleeping, and they all did need their rest.
He smiled at his sister and turned to the exit of the den where the moonlight still guided the way, picking his way carefully around and over their siblings tails and paws and bodies. He felt a sudden rush of excitement beginning to take hold, too. He'd never been up this late before, and somehow found it thrilling that it was just the two of them, as if the near twins were sharing some kind of secret. He liked that. He adored his siblings, but felt the fondest towards Xu, maybe because he felt protective over her since she was the one that had the hardest and oddest sleeping schedule.

-Due to her age, and the fact that she TRIED to be good, Xu had only slipped out of the den after dark twice before. Never really travelling very far from the enterance, entertaining herself in the stars above, and the light bugs below.
But with Jing by her side tonight, it was a different story, and as soon as she'd cautiously made her way over and around her siblings, she'd bounded out of the den, taking a deep breath of the sweet night air.
Her grin was brillant, tail lashing excitedly as she waited for the sibling that resembled her the most, quite thrilled that perhaps for once she'd be able to play like the others did. Without feeling tired, or the soft drag in her step that often accompanied their daytime play.-

Jing's little grin just widened a little more as his sister got him into the spirit of things. He laughed a little, softly, as they exited the den.
"What should we do first?" He asked, eyes eager. Two ghostly pale children caught between the shadows of Pride Rock's magnificence and the beauty of the moon beams and stars, quite a sight to see to any poor lion passing by.

-The night had never scared her, she was one with it after all, but the large expanse of nothingness as everyone slept was a little daunting. But with her older brother by her side tonight, a soft rippling of bravery and curiousity touched her tiny frame.
Hopping forward a few steps, until her paws settled into tufts of grasses, as opposed to the cool stone, she smiled back to the ghostly pale shape behind her.- "Usually I watch the stars and look for pictures. Or play tag with the bugs."
"I want to go out further! Can we Jing? We won't be gone long! I just want to see the water. Do you think it still glows blue and gold, like it does in the daytime?" -Her excitement was obvious, octaves raising gently with her questions.-

Jing'Fei looked a bit hesitant, glancing back towards the den as though expecting their mother or father to come after them, or for Ai or No, or Choa to pop up with a threat to tattle. None of the above happened, however, and Jing found himself looking back to his little sister unable to tell her no.
"Well... I guess we can, do you remember which way the water is?" He asked, smiling then, and bounding a few steps forward again, golden tail almost lighting a trail as he slipped into the grass. "Dunno, it's kinda dark out, maybe not gold, but I bet it still glows!"

"Yeahhh, it's easy to find! Mostly straight for a while. And then you see the trees."
-Her smile grew wide as he agreed, and she waited for him to meet her in the grass before she bounded forward a few more strides. The familar sparce dew of the grasses just beginning to settle on the leaflets, brushed onto her paws as she moved pondering over Jing's words.-
"You think the water changes colors? Well that's neat, I hope it does, as long as it still glows and all."

"Yeah, mom and dad both said it's a refer... reflect... ive.... sur... reflective surface! So Whatever colors are around it, that's the color it'll be! I think mom said that rocks in the water made it look like it was glowin', or maybe it was the moon. I'm sure it'll be nice and bright when we get there anyway, Xu!" He grinned encouragingly and came to stride alongside his sister, standing a little straighter to look bigger, just in case someone or something showed up to get in their way.
Ausi'Juu and the rest of the family would be sleeping soundly for some time for now.

"Ohhhhh" -A look of obvious awe touched her, little maw widenning in an O that almost seemed comical with the word it was paired with. Jing was so smart!-
"I hope so! The moon is so pretty, it'll be neat if the water re.. reflects it." -Glancing upwards momentarily at the heavenly display above, she couldn't help be think it fitting. The white sparkle of the stars, and even the moon to some extent mingled well with their young pelts.
Grinning further as he joined her side she let her eyes wander, trying to pick out familar landmarks in the dark. Which was surprisingly harder then she'd imagined it'd be.-

"We just need to be back before the sun rises, when papa wakes up." Jing said confidently, smiling over at his sister. He felt like such a good and responsible older brother, taking his sister out for a good time, like a real big boy! He'd protect her, always, she was his precious younger half, and they were the closest to being twins in the family, something that hadn't occured since mom was born with HER sister, Meilin.
The farther they wandered at first the less familiar things became, but after a check from atop of a pile of rocks, Jing'fei was able to confirm they were going the right way. He could see the soft white-ish blue glow of the watering hole reflecting into the area that surrounded it.
"Come on, Xu, we're almost there!" He breathed excitedly as his young paws met the ground again, redirecting them a little to the left to head on track again.

"Okay! There is still plenty of dark out!" -It was true, only the night sparkled through the sky, no sign of sunlight tracing the horizon yet. Just the vast darkness and tiny twinkles of light.
As things around them became less and less familar she found herself simply following the lead of Jing. However when his words warned of the up and coming watering hole the little star picked up her pace, bounding in the direction that he'd been looking, nose taking in the soft scent of water the nearer they drew.- "Yay!!!"
-And as she burst through the grass into the small clearing that'd been beaten down by the many who'd used this watering hole throughout the years, her eyes widened. It was just like he'd said!
Not blue and gold.. the pond now glow with a soft silvery white, the twinkle of stars becoming evident in the reflection as she drew closer and closer inward.- "Wow...."

The young male didn't mind letting his sister rush ahead, though he felt a sudden swell as she did move past him. He almost started to call a warning for her not to get too far ahead in case something dangerous was waiting up ahead for them, but her breath-taken admiration made him give pause instead, blink, then double his pace to catch up to her. "What, Xu, what is it? Is it lit??"
He skidded to a hault a few inches next to her as he broke through the grass too, feeling a shiver from the ghostly glow that the pool held.
He couldn't help a big and slow grin crossing his maw then. He puffed up proudly, feeling accomplished in sucessfully escorting Xu Wu Hui this far all on their own. And it was so worth it, too! She looked absolutely delighted, and they'd seen something none of their sisters and brother had seen yet! "Isn't it great?" He whispered to her, as if this were a precious secret to be kept between the two of them.

"Mmmmhmmmm" -A soft sound of approval was the singular answer he got to his question, Xu already reaching out a paw to swipe at the glowing waters curiously. Would the glowing get on her? Like sometimes it did in the daytime.
Paw dipping into the cool waters, she nodded enthusiastically, her eyes transfixed on the waters.
Darkness soon met her sight however, the moonlit waters suddenly just a blackness. Xu's ears lowered, her breathing slowed softly as she sat there.. unmoving, softly and suddenly asleep.-
