-Mufasa's eyes touched the darkness gently, slipping his head into the cool royal den in search of his mate, eyes trying to focus and find his mate. From his golden maw hung a single flower, simple and as white as the clouds in the sky. It wasn't exceptionally large, or even very exciting to the eyes, but flowers were a rarity outside the jungle, and as soon as he'd seen it, he'd felt his old heart begin to flutter.
Plucking it quickly, he'd made his way back to the den, seeking out his queen impatiently. As if something in the wind had blown the youth once again into the golden king. Where was she? His mate, his love?
And why did his heart pitter patter so viciously today, tugging at his need to see the familar and angelic face.-

A slender form slipped from the shadows, steps light on the cool stone of the Pridal den. Even wasted as she looked, there was still dignity in her baring, and her red eyes were still as sharp and bright as in her youth. And still filled with as much love for the large golden form that filled them as a welcoming smile curved acrossed her maw.
Sarabi let out a deep rumble as she changed her course to take her to her king's side, bending her head to rub it along is shoulder and fluffy mane. He was as larger-than-life as he had always been, and she was grateful for it. Seeing him the way she was would have broken her old heart, so she could only thank the Circle for granting him his health.
"Good morning, my love." She purred, stepping back so that she could see his face. "What's this you have here?" Sarabi bent forward to nose at the flower that hung from her mate's great jaws, a soft little smile on her face.

-A subconcious rumble began to purr from within his chest as the lioness appeared and found his side, delicate features pressing against him with such care and love. All of which seemed to play at the spring-like feelings within his heart today.
Ears lifting gently at the question, as if to try and cradle in every sweet word, he lowered his head to place the flower before her, wide golden smile touching his maw as he soothed the silly metaphor.- "Just a pretty and pale blossom I found hiding within the grasslands."
-He was being foolish.. but he didn't seem to mind, drinking in the sight of her as he crept closer, waiting for the smile on her face to grow so that he could gently nuzzle against it. Or perhaps even let his tongue fall upon the brillant treasure of an expression.-

Such a romantic, her king was. King and mate and heart's desire... Father to her children as well. She might have once been promised to another, but the queen couldn't imagine being with anyone but Mufasa. And they'd been together so long! Years and years, all in the blink of an eye... Time flowed fast as one got older, she'd learned to her chargin. In youth, it crawled like a worm over the ground, but Sarabi had found now that it had all slipped through her paws far too fast. All things come to an end, and some part of her felt it looming now, for both of them.
Shaking off the sudden darkening of her thoughts, the pale lioness filled them instead with the image of the great lion that came to nuzzle against her, a sweet smile spreading as she gently lifted the flower in a dainty paw. "Such a gentlemanly guesture..." She purred, her tufted tail flicking lazily behind her. "From such a sweet old man." A rough chuckle shook her frail body, inviting him to share in the joke.
"Had you been searching long for this particular flower, or did you just happen upon it in your restless wanderings?"

-And indeed when the smile widened and appeared before his eyes the old king found himself pressing his muzzle against her own, savouring the soft feeling of the expression. Ears flicking gently at the sound of her loving joke, getting a chuckle out of it himself.
His queen.. though her health had began to slip with their second litter she'd retained that elegant and admirable dignity and grace. In fact, it'd only seemed to grow with her age, skewing her signs of age from his sight to instead see the very soul and spirit that glittered from her. He might be strong.. but he was silly often unregal. She was refined, beautiful.. and even in her tease she remained all those things, bringing a wide smile from the king as he replied playfully.- "It would seem to me that only old men are gentlemen these days. So I'll take both titles happily."
-He paused softly at her last statement, unsure if she meant it seriously, or was playing along with his metaphor, before deciding upon the latter, answering thoughtfully.- "I wasn't searching when I first laid my eyes on the flower.. but once I saw it I couldn't drag my eyes or heart from it. Thankfully the flower didn't protest too much."

Warmth flushed through the old lioness at his word, a fluttering of her stomach making itself known. An old compaion, that feeling was! She'd thought it had been long lost with her youth, but it seems it had only been hiding. She laughed softly as she rose and slid her silky body down the length of his in a extended version of a nuzzle. Swinging around, she grinned mischeviously and slid herself up his other side, finally coming to rest with her head under his chin. The little flower nodded from where it rested between the toes of her paw, almost laughing with her.
"You are ever the gentleman and the romantic, my love. I'm glad you brought me the flower." Padding to the side, she gently set it up on a rock near the den, where it would be seen by any and all that passed by. "Do you care to walk with me, dear? I think a little exercise is just what this old body needs to warm up after a night spent on the stone floor."

-A deep purr rumbled through him with the affectionate, obviously pleased with himself and the general contentment in which his mate seemed to glow with this fine morning.
Padding over to join her, until his golden pelt was near enough to brush against the cremey satin of her side, he nodded softly, eyes leaving only long enough to look out at the lands that surrounded them, before filtering back to his mate.- "I'd love to go for a walk dearest. It's not often I'm offered such lovely company."
-Taking a step forward he waited slowly for her to come and set the pace, so he could fall alongside her comfortably.-

A soft chuckle slipped from the cream lioness, her red eyes glittering happily. It had been quite a while since they'd had a chance to walk together, just the two of them. She'd missed it dearly, if the truth were known, but the old queen didn't feel right taking her king from his duties for too long. The pride was so big now, there was always someone needing his attention. It suprised her, now that she thought of it, that he was free to escort her this morning, but she had no qualms about taking advantage of it.
The soft paws patted the rock as she moved to take the lead, letting the end of her tail brush against Mufasa's side. "I think it might be nice to walk to the watering hole, maybe take a roundabout way... I havn't had a chance to see much of the lands in my condition." A soft smile touched her face as she moved down the side of Priderock at a leasurly pace, something that wouldn't tax her over much. The sun felt wonderful on her pale fur, warming her through.

-Settling himself, long slow steps made to take her similar gentle pace, he listened softly as his eyes drifted between the azure sky and the unique creme of his mate's pelt. There might be alot of gold in the land... but Sarabi's soft creme was something more rare and beautiful. And for some reason it brought a soft amount of selfish pride that such a pelt was his to walk alongside.
Nodding gently to her words, he oblidged sincerely.- "The longer the path, the better. The sun still has hours before it begins it's descent."

Letting her body swing loosely, opening up her strides to make it easier on herself to take those big steps. It was quite a task... her mate was large, a beast of a lion who's body still rippled with power, despite his advanced years. She marveled, even now, at how robust he was, something that had been passed on to their children and grandchildren along with his size and their red eyes. Those thoughts brought on more thoughts about the family they had raised together.
"Do you remember, my love, when the cubs were small? So different they all were! Sweet little Rehani with her green eyes, shy Kami and her loving nature. The twins, wild and so attached to each other..." Her smile was soft, a loving mother's smile. "Our poor little Simba... lost so soon to us, as Njozi was."
Good times, bad times, life and the Circle turning and moving and flowing. It was gorious.

-His eyes drifted downward to her own as her thoughts touched the air, a soft smile growing across his golden maw. So often his own thoughts touched the children. Ecspecially with the return of many of them in the recent days.
And slowly he savoured the thought, letting the vision of the children when they were so tiny and helpless play across his memories. It still pained him, the two that they lost.. But every moment they'd had with them was a blessing.
Nodding gently, he mused with soft contentment.- "It's amazing how different they all could be, given the same birth and life. And to see how they've all grown at that."
-Chuckling a little, he leaned in to brush his shoulder delicately against her own.- "To see their own children as well. It's such a strange and beautiful feeling."

Sarabi smiled at the brush, her step hitching as she compensated for the light touch, pressing back against him. Now there was a thought... their children grown, three with children of their own. "Grandparents, us! Such a strange feeling, yet good all the same. We've started something, you know... something larger than us both that will last the trials of time, and live on long after we and our children, and even our grandchildren, are gone." Her breath grew shallow, her eyes distant as she imagined the cubs, growing and bearing their own cubs... passing on their ancestor's golden fur and red eyes. Sometimes... Sarabi wondered if she might not have a touch of the sight. The pictures in her head came so clear... crisp and sharp down to the last detail. It wouldn't have suprised her, though it wouldn't have changed a thing about her. She was as she was, ability to see beyond what was around her or not.
The cream lioness glanced at her great golden mate, eyes shining with what she saw in her head. "Do you think they're ready...? We won't be around forever. Do you think they can run this great pride we raised and nurtured, as we did? Poor Kami... so gentle and shy. I worry sometimes, at how well she will stand under the burden that is ruling a pride."

"We were blessed I think... with the ability to touch so many within our lifetime.. both ourselves and through our children. It makes me proud to know you and I.. our memories and our family will linger on long before the time comes for us to go."
-Her next question however brought a soft aversion of his eyes, orbs reaching skyward for an answer he'd often pondered upon himself. One that was perhaps impossible to really know until the time came.
He wanted to have faith in his children. But parental worry was such a strong and unavoidable emotion. When finally he spoke, he let his eyes drift back down to his mate, familar opptimism lacing his deep voice.- "I think... that though it might not be as easy to see.. our children have been raised and nutured to be just as strong as this pride has."
"I worry... but more then that I hope that she will be able to take up the task. And I know that even in hardship, she will be able to lean on the strength of the pride."
"There is so much 'family' within these lands, I think it could withstand more then we could possibly imagine."
-Hint of a smile returning to his maw, he lowered his head softly, voice dropping to a whisper that brush alongside her delicate creme ear.- "Looks of worry or pain do not suit my queen though... I far prefer when looks of joy or hope rest upon you."

The queen nodded along as her king spoke, agreeing with what he said. "Yes, it is truly a blessing. It is all I've ever wanted... to be able to help those who need it. I have been truly happy in my long life to be at your side and able to do everything in my power to nurture our pride." She smiled gently as her shoulder brushed against his as they walked.
"Perhaps I worry to much, then... She does have so many in the pride to help her, others that can guide her or give advice when she needs it. She will do well, I'm sure. It is in her blood to rule." A rough purr slipped from her as her smile widened, her gaze adoring as she looked up at her mate. Such a sweet talker he was... a true romantic.

-A softly masculine purr rumbled through his form, agreeing to her words with a silent gaze and smile, before softly he tried to lull her back to the task of the day, eyes drawing forward to the path.
Eyes encompassing the golden path for a long moment, he finally drew his sight back to the cream lioness adorning his side, lowering his head to place a rather silly, but affectionate lick alongside her ear, before he whispered softly.- "If you could do any one thing at all today my dearest, What would it be? What would widen that maw of yours, and let your spirit soar?"
