The sand was hot beneath Kaanga’s paws, but it brought a faint smile to her lips to remember the unusual story she had told her new friend about the fleas. Friend! She had two now, the white firekin decided. It made her unusually large heart brim, and her gentle face to peel into bright smiles. It made all the scratches and the scary harshness of the other children fall away. But all the love couldn’t make her paws stop from burning.
“Eeek-“ The small child mumbled, and clumsily the addle-minded seer bounded about, her tail bouncing like a ribbon behind her. Each footfall and the ground was hot- but rather then run to the shade she simply looped her running. The child skirted a figure eight, before settling to a stop.
It took her a few moments to make the decision to run to the shade, her lean legs bounding across the ground as she quickly scampered to the crumbling stone. She was growing older. Her legs, which had once been stumpy, now were lean and boney. There was growth in the future of the little female- although how much exactly was still up for debate.
Now in the shade of the dusty rock, the small girl pressed her body to the shade, and purred slowly. This stone...she’d dreamed about it before. There was nothing special about it. But maybe it had once been something more- long ago.

Moto's tail flicked back and forth irritably as she walked. It was hot. It was obvious, and a given... but still hot.
She'd get used to it, though.
A little white missile shot in front of her though, and Motomilia narrowly missed stepping on the fuzzball. "Woah --" But the cub by now was settled in the shade of a rock. "Hey," Moto snarled, "watch where you're going, you little --"
And stopped, took a second look. From first glance, Moto had assumed the cub was a slave, either stolen or born from another slave. But -- something about her... She took in the cub's scent. Yep, definately Firekin.
"Who are you?"

Kaanga jerked back at the angry voice, and instantly clutched herself to the rock. She had almost forgotten...but she was firekin, and this was their ways. She shivered and gently stood up, her body pulling against itself as she rose onto her feet. “Umm– Kaanga is Kaanga?” She remarked. Most firekin might have been a bit more indignant about being yelled at. If anything, Kaanga shrunk away to be sure she was out of the older female’s strike range.
The female’s eyes were upon her, and the seer turned her own yellow eyes nervously in return. There were many ways these kinds of meetings went...and the white creature decided the only way to find out was to wait and see how angry this lady really was.
Smiling sheepishly, she twisted her tail. It made her look rather annoyingly un-firekin; but awfully cute.

Giving the cub an odd look, as if trying to figure out what she was looking at (perhaps she was), Motomilia took a step closer. Certainly Firekin, but... she certainly didn't act like it. Just whose cub was she?
Having not the patience to speak to the brat further, and no clue what she could say anyway, Moto gave an uncharacteristic shrug with her shoulderblades and turned to walk past her, hoping Kaanga would take a hint and just let her go.

Kaanga watched with wide eyes while the older female slowly stalked away. Quietly, the white creature pursed her lips and considered it for a long moment- before quickly scampering forward, her feet stumbling about on the hot ground. It was shadier underneath the female- and she took her cue to walk directly underneath the female, and raise her head upwards to speak with her, while maneuvering between her feet.
“Where are you going?” She questioned, blinking. “Kaanga doesn’t know who you are-?” She squeaked. “Kaanga is Kaanga- but who are you?”

Motomilia nearly tripped -- again -- over the irritating cub, groaning inwardly. Not ANOTHER cling-on! Mpaji was more than enough, and had gotten himself into deep zebra dung by tagging along with her.
"I'm Motomilia," she replied, figuring it was the quickest and easiest way to bore her and possibly get rid of her.

“Motomilia?” Kaanga repeated. “I really like that name! I think my Daddy said it before- and I said to him, ‘that’s a really long name!’ and I don’t think he heard me.” She remarked, nodding her head.
"It doesn't have a K in it." Kaanga added, suddenly having an apiffany. "That's why I remembered it. Kaanga thinks it's very pretty."

The red lioness stopped moving, eyeing the child once again. Moto was indeed the only one out of her littermates who didn't have a K- name. She remembered Azula's mention of her nieces and nephews, and she inwardly winced. Surely this brat couldn't be one of them? She was hardly fit to be descended from Kiu, let alone Makadari!
"Thank you.." she offered with some difficulty, before leaping into the question she was eager to have answered. "Who is your Daddy?"

“Kaanga’s daddy?” What an odd question to ask. What about Kaanga’s mommy? “Kaanga’s mommy is Karama; Kaanga’s daddy is Kimeti. Don’t you know them?” She questioned slowly, her wide yellow eyes blinking.

Oh, the irony.
"Kimeti is my brother," she replied simply. "I don't know anything about Karama."

“Really?” Kaanga grinned widely, drawing out every syllable in the word. “You’re Kaanga’s aunt? Eee!” She squealed happily, and ran around the other female’s paws. “Kaanga has not met any of her aunts yet! Do you have children? Kaanga knows some of them do. And Mommy- Mommy is Karama. You will meet her, I would think.”

"I might," Moto replied, humoring the cub. "And no, I don't have any children."
She folded herself carefully into a sitting position, wrapping her tail around her forepaws. It'd become evident she wasn't going to get rid of the cub until she got bored or spontaneously combusted, either one.

“Aww...” Kaanga spoke lightly, and leaned her body against her aunt’s leg. “Why don’t you have any babies? Kaanga would have babies if she was older, she thinks.” Appreciatively, Kaanga patted her belly. “I’ll have twenty, I think.”

Moto chuckled despite herself. Twenty? She had a vision of trying to chase after twenty little runts, and shuddered. "Good luck with that. Cubs and I don't mix."
