The sun was burning brilliantly enough to scorch the flesh- although in all appearances she seemed to have either died, or was ignoring it. It was high noon on the savannah- and draped across the orange hued sandstone rock, the white female seemed to burn with the brightness. Somewhat irritably in the shade, the large male sat, and chided the incognito female.

“You’ll burn up like that.” He remarked flatly. Absently the crown of his head lowered, and his tongue stroked across the joints of his wrist.

If the white female still lived, she made no showing of it. Her body was still and almost breathless, her eyes limply closed and jaw somewhat slackened. She was used to nonresponsive movement. Eating, breathing- they were all things she felt, but their actions she mimicked only out of the necessity of appearing normal. Had she been younger, she never would have risked such a thing as not managing her breaths; but as time went on.... she grew somewhat lazy. Phib didn’t seem to notice.

But he would notice her not answering, and with a soft smile, she fixed her posture to look more like one of the living, and she sprawled backwards. “I’m taking in the sun.” She spoke, her pale eyes opening to the bright velocity of the sun. It made even her eyes wince.

The green hued lion made a kind of snorting noise, and rose up from the orange grasses. Small flecks of the toasted brush clung to his hips and shoulders, and the old male had to shake them off to free his body from them. “I think you’ve had your fill of it.”

The white lion rolled over to her side, and grinned. “I’ll never have enough of it.”

"Well, I have." He grunted, and furrowed his brow as his bright eyes scanned the horizion. A bush to the far right seemed to have a further shadow then the reeds he had been resting in, and slowly the long lion lumbered towards the brush.

Améh yawned, and batted the empty air with a flash of pink padding. "Silly, silly."

Isipho yawned and rolled in the dry dust/dirt happily. Okay, she was lost again, but the sun felt wonderful on her wet coat. Her little mass of mane flipped backwards, into her eyes. Grunting, the lioness casually swiped at it with a paw, back into it's place. Her silver eyes were closed, avoiding the cruel sun.

Isi sighed blissfully, and forced her eyes open, quickly turning away from the searing light. She had to find food. This was no time for sleep. Reluctantly the dark colored lioness flipped over, back onto her stomach, and stood up slowly. Flicking her tail lazily, Isi scanned the horizon. Food.. now if I were food.. where would I be? Bushes. The lioness stretched, cracking her back, before idly trotting around, looking for a bush or something.

A bush! A cluster of bushes. Smiling to herself, she loped over to it, and assumed stalk position. A rustle.. Small, but it was prey. A tiny mouselike creature carefully poked it's head out of the bush, it's cheeks stuffed with seeds. Narrowing her eyes, the lioness slowly crept towards it, taking tiny steps.

As the male crossed towards the brush, he became faintly aware of the whisper quiet sound of light thudding. It wasn’t the noise most would typically react to- but life as a rogue had taught the lion that there simply was no drawbacks to a little cautiousness. A half gurgling growl bubbled in his throat as he slowly turned, walking carefully towards a slight shifting in the brush. There was a scent on the wind now- but the heat made it hard to accurately distinguish. He didn’t like that. Another sign of aging, perhaps?

Gruffly, he furrowed his brow and peered behind the tall curled grass- just in time to see a black female bring the stare down on a mouse who was probably consuming his last meal. The scene was so amusing that the faint growl stopped to a faint pop, and he watched the event unfold with a slight grin.

Phib decided to hold speaking for a moment, although from behind him, he heard the white lioness suck in a breath signalling she had just realized they were not alone.

Isi had complete and total focus on the tiny mouse. A sudden shift in the dry wind brought another scent to her nostrils. Lion? No, lions. The mouse realized it too, and with a terrified squeak it darted away into the bushes before the lioness could react.
"Shoot." Isi looked up, looking for the lions that had just ruined her meal. "Hello.." She mumbled, looked up at the lions face, quietly admiring his green mane.

Looking at the lion warily, she backed up a step, and sat down. Who was he, to ruin her meal? Probably someone that could bite and claw out her eyeballs pretty darn well. "Uhmm.. I'm Isi." The lioness rose a brow. Where was that other scent coming from? She looked around, but saw nothing.

Phib watched as the mouse suddenly turned round and gave him the wide-eye, and dashed off into the sun worn reeds, free for the moment to enjoy future meals. He watched the place where the rodent had vanished with his steady red eyes, and almost missed the female’s somewhat reserved greeting. Considerately he turned his head, eyeing her ironically as if he was trying to figure out if she had really spoken. Finally, he nodded his head, the lion’s curly green mane dipping forward in the motion.

“Hello, my dear.” His thick voice rumbled, and the large creature shifted his paws. His face looked somewhat strained- although it was due to the heat more then the company. “Sorry about your food; but I doubt it would be very filling.” He remarked, and stood up. The green lion crossed from where he stood to almost where the mouse was, and abruptly collapsed across the grass. Irritably his tongue lolled, and the serrated pink crossed carefully over his teeth.

“One would think growing up in the deserts north of here would make me adjusted to the sun.” Phib mused to no one in particular. “Painfully ironic.”

“He likes to complain.” A soft voice spoke, and stepping past the reeds, a small and dainty white female approached. Her pale eyes shifted to view the black female before them, and her face lit up pleasantly. “Hello love! Who are you?” Ameh peeped.

Phib docked his ear, and glanced towards the white lioness. “Isi, she says.” It reminded him he had no exactly given her much of a name. “I am Phib.”

Isi dug her paws into the dry dirt, tracting and retracting her claws. What was that male doing? Wasn't even paying attention. How rude. But he did have a curly mane. Gods, she was a sucker for manes. She nodded curtly at his greeting. "Mm, I suppose." The lioness didn't add how it had been one of the only things she could catch, and that she hadn't eaten in a day or two.
No need for rudeness.

"Are you okay?" Isi stood up, startled by the lion's fall. "Oh, okay.." He appeared to be fine. "Uhhmmm..Do you need any help up or something?" Squinting, she looked down at him, and realized how old he was. "Uhmm.." Was he talking to her? The lioness frowned, shielding her light eyes from the sun, and looked up towards the second voice. "Uh.. Hi!" Isi grinned toothily, happy she was not alone with this old bat of a lion. The lioness's light coat was almost opposite to Isi's. "Uhmm.. Okay. I'm, uh, Isi." Realizing the green lion had already said this, she smiled sheepsihly, and shrugged. "Phib." Isi mumbled, acknowledging his name.

Phib pulled his head back and snorted. Help! He wasn’t that old. Yet- his mind added bitterly. The idea brought a few more popping sounds from his throat, and he dimly shook his head. “I am perfectly fine.” The large creature muttered indignantly, and he shut his mouth to stop the panting against his wishes. It was bitterly hot. But why was it bothering him all of a sudden? The whole idea of him being old made him bitter, and irritably he twitched his tail.

If it bothered anyone, Améh didn’t seem to notice his slight tantrum behind the two females. Smiling she strolled a bit closer, nosing the other female in a familiar manner which wasn’t always readily accepted by others. “I’m Améh- it is good to meet you. Not so often are you seeing a dark creature out around now!” She peeped. “Are you going somewhere?”

Apparently Phib was suffering from the sudden shunning, [What, was he too old now to be in the conversation?] and made a slight grunt.

Améh docked her ear and smiled up at the other female, blatantly ignoring him.

Isi blinked. "Uhmm... Okay then." Resisting the urge to ask him if he was sure, she turned to the lioness. Grinning, she happily nosed the lioness back, excited to find someone so friendly. "Hi Améh!" The lioness wiggled in a cublike manner. "It's good to meet you too!" Isi added, with a huge toothy smile. "Going somewhere..?" She repeated, faulting.

"Uhmm.. I dunno. I'm lost, I think. Or atleast I was. But I guess, when you're with others, you're not lost. Mr. Hasidi taught me that!" The lioness blew her bangs out of her eyes, it had been getting highly annoying. Isi flicked her tail, and looked at Phib. "Is he okay..?" She whispered, quietly, to Améh.

Remembering she should probably ask an important question, Isi looked at Améh and quietly asked, "Where exactly are we? I sortof want to go somewhere.. I don't know where. Maybe where there are lots of other lions? Like, alot of lions to talk to?" She yawned, and casually used her tail to flick a fly that had found interest in her rump away.

The female quirked a grin. “He’s just pouting because he thinks he’s old.” She smiled, curling her tail as she whispered. [Albeit- probably loud enough for him to hear, which would explain the sudden narrowing expression on his face as he pretended to look at something in the distance.] “It’s best to ignore him.”

Hearing that the black female was lost brought a frown to the female’s face, and carefully she turned her head, her eyes gazing over the surrounding lands. From her time- she knew how the earth was; particularly in this grassy place. But she also had to be somewhat conspicuous in revealing [around Phib] how much she really did know. Which might have been hard to believe, judging by the vacant look on her pleasant face.

With a smile, Améh sat, and furrowed her brow. “Lost! That’s not good at all. We are...” she paused. “Where are we Phib?” When all else failed.

Phib still seemed bitter, but he slide a red eye towards the females and glanced back out. They were in fact, maybe ten miles or so off the pridelands, having had left their borders following the incident with Hakan and Kamal. “A few miles away from just about anything.” He remarked. It probably was true- they were sort of...central.

But that wasn’t a good enough answer for the female, and she turned towards Isi. “I believe Mufasa’s lands are just north of here....maybe, two river lengths or so? There are some lions in the desert, but they don’t seem the friendly sort. I would say north is where most of the friendlier lions are. I think some of that pride’s decedents, or affiliates set up smaller groups to either side. This is a good spot to walk, if you are looking for a place to go, I am thinking.” She paused. “Maybe...jungles too. Yes, it’s a good spot to be lost in.”

Isi nodded. "Ahhh." She frowned, but nodded again. "Uhmm, Okay then." Why ignore him? He was wierd.. but.. Oh well. Améh knew what she was doing, it seemed. "Uhmm, yeah. Lost, I think. I thought it was good when you were lost. Thats what Hasidi said.." The lioness blinked, realizing how crazy that sounded.

"Miles..?" What were miles? "Who's Mufasa?" Isi cocked her head, curious. Was he someone good? Or bad? She yawned, and batted at the fly that had come back, now resting on her maw. "Stupid buzzy things.." The lioness muttered, as the fly zoomed off. She quickly turned her attention back to Améh, though. "Mean lions? Oh. There aren't any of those hy-ee-nas, are there?" The thingies that had beaten up Hasi. Or were they those cheet-uhs? "A good spot to be lost in?" Her brow furrowed. "Ohhh.. So.. what do you think is the best place to go? Like somewhere with lots of.. rabbits?" The lioness's eyes gleamed at the thought of juicy, plump little rabbits. "Jungles?" What were those?

Améh thought for a moment. “I don’t think it’s good to be lost. It’s good to travel without a purpose, like wind, but I don’t think anyone ever wants to really be lost. It’s too easy to loose your way when you get off the road.” But, she could understand the reasoning. If only somewhat. Throughout her many mortal appearances- Améh had never really gotten down all of the strange values they sometimes carried.

Miles...oops. Well, she had included river length before. “Like...a really long walk.” The female explained. Phib must have picked up the term from her. She noted to be careful about such things in the future. “Or, how big a river is. That’s how far it will be. Not too far- but a good days travel.”

“Mufasa is the king of the pridelands. He’s pretty well known.” Améh spoke reflectively. “He has a very large and peaceful pride, and the groups around him tend to reflect the same ideals.” Although there was a graveyard... “Yes- there are hyenas. They roam everywhere around these places; although moreso around the graveyards and places of the dead.”

The thought of eating rabbits turned her stomach, and she heard Phib faintly chuckle. The white female’s affinity towards the small creatures was certainly an odd one for a lioness, but she ignored reacting to it. “Jungles...east of here...I think. They seem peaceful, but I know little about them.”
PostPosted: Tue Aug 29, 2006 8:36 am

Isi furrowed a brow, still not completely understanding. Oh well. "Ohhh. Like, following the river or something? Miles is a wierd name for it." She said, twisting her face up. "A days travel. Thats not too bad." The lioness grinned toothily.
"A king? Neat." Isi curled her tail around her paws. "All the pridelands?" Her eyes lit up at Améh's nest words. "A really big pride? Are like, other lions uhhmm.. allowed to join it, or something?" The lioness's nose wrinkled up at the mention of dead things. "Everywhere? Do they always beat up lions like they did to Hasidi?" Graveyards. She'd have to avoid those. Once she found out what they were.

She blinked. Why was Phib chuckling? "Uhmm.." What did Isi do? "Jungles.. are they places, or some sortof thing?" The lioness felt no shame in her stupidness, it was natural.
Gack. That fly was back again. She eyed it grumpily, and swatted at it again, accidently catching it on a claw. Oops. The lioness pryed it off with another claw, it fell, and crawled off.

Ameh was a simple minded creature- and the fact that the other female might have been as well did not trouble her much. She was more then happy to help. “I’m sorry, hee...sometimes I pick up words that don’t have meaning to some people. You know?” To describe a jungle, however...

“It’s like...a place where all the trees cluster together, and it goes on and on. It isn’t hot like it is here. There’s a lot more water, but the prides in the jungles tend to be more mysterious. I haven’t heard much about them. I believe they are somewhat kingless at the moment....but, that’s all rumors.”

“Mufasa?” She peeped. “I don’t know much about how they accept others. I believe they are welcoming though- more so then some of the other prides around here. There are smaller ones too though, that I am sure would take someone in as well if you wanted the company. It was something she had been thinking on herself. But to place the odd pair would need quite a bit of time.

“Hrm...some of them are friends to lions, I hear. Some of them loathe lions. It’s like anything really- some people you must be cautious around. But others, you welcome in.”
PostPosted: Tue Aug 29, 2006 9:48 am

Isi nodded, fully understanding. "Yup, I see what you mean. Is' happened to me more then once." She said, with a small giggle. Améh Was really nice! Maybe they could be friends? So far she had one friend. Atleast she thought so.

"Ohh. Lots of trees. That sounds nice." The lioness grinned, and thought about how fun it must be to climb those trees. "Oh yes, water is a big plus. Kingless? Like, they don't have a king? Wow." Her ears flicked backwards, then faced forwards again.

"Oh, so there are nice hyenas, and bad hyenas? I bet the nice hyenas are really.. nice. Maybe they can tell funny jokes and stuff?" She smiled sheepishly, trying to get her wording right.

Améh smiled and wriggled softly. She loved speaking to good people! Sometimes she lost faith when all she met was bitterness. To see others who were light hearted was good for her own soul. Pleasantly, the white female curled her golden tipped tail, and nodded her head. “I’m not sure really....” She pursed her lips. This, she honestly had to say she didn’t know. She had never made her attentions deliberately upon the lions of the jungle- although she was always present somewhat within them as they lived.

“There’s some sort of issue, I think. But they have a leader, and a good one. Just no proclamation. I guess it’s sort of an agreed situation, but all I really know is rumors. Most of the lands here have them. Or a queen- or both. It’s cub season, so everyone seems to be running about.” Améh replied.

“I would think so. I’ve always wanted to meet a good hyena.” It had been ages since she had really spoken to one. “They have the best laugh.” Giggling, she made an attempt at mimicking it, but failed miserably.

Phib gruffly snorted, and Améh glanced at him.

“He’s jealous of my marvelous vocal features.” Améh retorted.
