Watch this video of PC Chris vs Mew2King

If you can't at least watch this vid and pick apart all of the advanced techs in a match like this, then you're going to be behind some 25000 people who can play using advanced techs like these two when Brawl comes out and you start playing online.

With so many people bringing over the skills they have developed in Melee, it's going to be a rude wakeup call for the people who think they are SSBM Gods when really they couldn't tell their SHUFFL'd Sex kicks from their Reverse SHDL's.

Discuss:

1. The Skill gap between casual players, amateur players and Professional players (Like PC Chris and Mew2King)

2. How cool Brawl's online will be

3. How much the skill gap may shorten once more people start playing at a higher level.

I'm acually not that great.
I used to think I was. Not anymore.
Maybe I'm just rusty...
I dunno.
I can't take out 3 nines as easily now.
I'm not gonna play online often, but I will sometimes.

CPU's don't gauge skill.
Placing in tournaments do.

But fair enough.

Even with all the knowledge I have, and the skill that makes me Team captain of my Crew, I won't make the draft cut for my State in the national Crew battle championships in 2007.

They're likely taking top 5, and I'm only ranked 7th in my state.

online play is gonna be sweet, im lookng forward to see if i can find any low tier tourneys to see how well my roy does
cause those are fun

and about the gap, hopefully with ppl playing online against good ppl they will start to have to learn how to do more advanced techniques so the gap will shorten and we wont have any flaming n00bs saying that they are the best in the freaking world

and ill finally be able to show that besides lunaris alaska has sum players worth mentioning

There will be quite a gap. I still see comments like "Maybe I can get help in...." basic parts of the game from users who have recently joined the guild.

Anyway, who's to know they won't fix things like wavedashing in SSBB? I hope not. How do we know most of these advanced techniques won't cause lag or be affected by lag in online play? I don't really mind how long I have to wait to play, but I do hope all these things are well thought out.

My friends and I make it a montly ritual to enter the tournament in our area together in the solos bracket. Usually, we all occupy the top 4... Except this one time when PC Chris showed up in town. Got our asses handed to us sweatdrop

I rank myself as an ameteur; I'm not good enough to be considered Pro yet. What I look forward to though, is the online mode, not just so I can learn from the real pros, but so I can feel all manly when I beat all the 11 year olds that think they can play xd

I think we all feel that way too.
The ones that can call themselves amateurs.

To be considered a pro smasher, you really have to be in it for the money like PC Chris and Ken.

Thing is, there's a good chance the combat system will be revamped, right? We could fear things like Wavedashing to be removed, considering how it may cause lag and such.

I can't wait for Brawl. I'm not horrible, but I'm not pro either. I've been working on mastering all these fancy smancy tech's everyone keeps talking about (smashboards.com). Plus I got my buddy who's teaching me how to refine my skills.

I'd love to play other players though. Anyone here from around the IL/chicago suburbs area??

Same here. I rely on tricky movements and dodges with a Pikachu. 15 minute melee I have mastered, I just have to do cruel melee. And I have never been to a tournament before. I can't afford to travel.
