Uri had decided to run. It was something that, of course, came naturally to the cheetah. But this time he'd been prompted by all the couples and cubs in his adopted homeland. Was he the only cheetah in the band with no mate, no offspring, no loves?
He'd go back. Sometime. For now he wasn't worrying about his lack of social connections, just in getting something to drink. It was arid and hot...and this oasis seemed like the only water for miles.
Wary, he approached it, wishing there was a breeze to carry scents. He felt too exposed.

Malika was walking along the edge of the border and that was when the cheetah had come into her sights. She instantly froze for a moment wondering why a cheetah of all creatures would be here but then she thought perhaps he just needed water.
"H-h-h-ello th-th-there, c-c-an I help you?" Malika asked him sheepishly.

"Hey." Uri looked up and studied her closely. And he'd been right to feel like he was being watched, then. The water had indeed brought him here. Now he was worried that he'd stumbled into anothers territory.
"No, I'm fine, thankyou. If I've intruded upon your homelands, I'm sorry."

"I don't think you have a reason to be sorry, sir." Malika replied to Uri before she added "I believe that if the king does not see you then there should be no problem.....Are you thirsty?" Was what she ended her words with obviously concerned about the other even if she had no reason to.
"You look weary, please do not hesiate to rest, as long as you come with no means of harming any you are welcome atleast by me."

"I wouldn't dream of harming anyone, and thankyou. I've been running for a while." He gulped down a few more mouthfuls of water, then went to sit nearby. Malika didn't seem to mean him any harm and had bidden him welcome. He'd relax, a little.
"My name is Uri...what do they call you?"

"My name is Malika'Eusi but you are free to call me what you wish." Was the white lioness's reply to the cheetah. "May I ask, what brings you to travel the desert?" It was something that interested the female and she felt the urge to know

"All of the cheetah in our loosely formed group are mated, in love, and expecting cubs save me. They're all my friends, I'm happy for them but...I just needed to get away a while." He shrugged. that's how it seemed to him anyway.
"Pleased to meet you, Malika'Eusi.'

"Love...." The lioness repeated an image of another lion crossing her thoughts before she shook it away. "There are not many here are mated, since some have already left....though I have seen one and she looks as if she is expecting cubs....Like you I am happy for those who are in love here, but I am not or at least I do not think I am in love....."
"It is a honor to meet you Uri, this is the first time I have come across a cheetah."

"It's an honor, likewise, to meet a lionness for the first time." This was almost true. But most of the lionnesses and lions Uri had met up until now had wished to introduce themselves fangs first. Or claws first, depending on their hunting method.
"I think I should like to be in love, but I've not met anyone yet."

Although it was unknown to Malika, she was unlike most lions, she believed that everything and everyone had good in them somewhere even if you could not see it.
"I'm sorry to hear that you have not found someone that you cherish dearly." Her expression was sad, but not pity "I have heard that is wonderful, but sometimes love isn't what you thought it to be."

"I don't wish to be rude, but perhaps you speak from experiance?" He studied her expression, and his voice was not unkind. He thought that it might be worse to have love and find it lacking, than never to find it at all.

The white lioness shook her head. "I have no experience, the only thing I do know of is that my mother fell in love and it turned out to disappoint her...." She took a breath with a distant look in her eyes. "I don't know much of my mother but I do know that she was there, but my father never was."
"I'm sorry I should not have troubled you with, there isn't anything to worry I'm quite alright without my mother and so there is nothing to worry about, that is if you were worried." Then she stopped chewing her bottom lips slightly before saying "I'm sorry, I must sound like a babbling idiot."

"Oh, don't worry, miss. I know that story well, for it's simular to my own. My mother found love with my father, but I soured it when I was born, because where I come from no cheetah is anything but gold with black spots. My father left her for my colours..." He glaced at his pelt.
"I'm sorry that you're father never was there, I know how it is."

"I think it is interesting that we are so much alike....However you have no reason to be sorry for me because if he had been around I may have been much different than I am now." Malika replied to the Cheetah.
Then in a tone much softer than normal she said "Do you have many memories of your mother?"

"Yes, many, but none are good. She didn't really care for me much." He turned his gaze back to the lionness, his pale eyes thoughtful.
"That's a deep thought, that you'd be a different person. In that case I'm not sorry, because you seem like a nice sort of cat to me."
