*pardon my spelling on any names here* Hmm.. I was watching it the other day, and I was thinking to myself... who would Sayuri have been better with? The Chairman, or Nobu-San? I presonally would have preferred to see her with Nobu-San... but I was wondering, what does everyone else think?

Ah, alas... the old tale of love!
I liked Nobu-San quite a bit because he was a true friend and genuinely loved Sayuri. he was always there for her, no matter what. He would have made her a good husband (or Danna had that been acceptible to her) and would have loved her forever with all his soul. I think he bowed out of the scene because he realized that she was in love with the Chairman, not he.
But the Chairman was the epitome of kindness and thoughtfulness where both Sayuri and Nobu-San were concerned. And more importantly, he was the man Sayuri loved. So it was for the best.

I really don't know, actually, seeing as how the view of a geisha and her danna was not accurate in the film.
The Chairman---He seemed kind enough, but he was already aging when Chiyo met him. When she was eighteen, he must have already been up in his fifties. He could have been more aggressive, too, but he felt he owed Nobu a lot. (Which personally made me think that Nobu wouldn't let him forget about his debt, which kind of gave Nobu the image of a jerk).
Nobu Toshikazu--Nobu did indeed love Sayuri, however, he was too broad and much too aggressive. I suppose he meant well, but he got jealous over nothing. Besides, he dislikes geisha, which gave him a bad image from the start. In the book, Nobu was quite rude to her. In the movie, I just...didn't like him as much as I thought he would. He was portrayed by a good actor, though.
Dr. Crab---Okay, this guy was disgusting. If I were Sayuri, I would have killed myself if I had a perverted old doctor for a patron.
The Baron---He was equally disgusting as Dr. Crab. I don't think he truly loved Mameha the way she cared for him. The only thing he cared about was Sayuri. I was kind of happy when the Baron committed suicide...I just knew he'd lose his money someway or another.

I like Nobu-San much more than the Chairman but im not too sure who she would be better off with or not, but if she were to pick Nobu-San i think it might of been awkward for her since she only thought of him as a friend.

It would not have been fair to Sayuri to have been with Nobu-san. Sayuri loved the chairman, and the chairman loved her and that was the reason that I think they were better together than any of the other characters would have been with her. If you think about the movie, both of them devoted alot of time and money to eachother, and so, truly cared for eachother. Nobu-san loved sayuri deeply, but he was too stiff in his beleifs and this would not have suited sayuri's water like personality. And honestly, Nobu-san and Iwamura Ken both had the same amount of fincances and basically the same lifestyle, why would she have been better off with nobu?
