((I tried to set this around the time that Mufasa might be making his morning rounds, if he does those at all, I can move Tai closer to Pride Rock if need be though.)

Most would say that she ("she" being the female seated atop one of the rocky formations near the Prideland borders in the early morning's hours, as the sun rose in the sky) was a vindictive creature by nature, but they would be surprised to find that beneath the colder exterior lay a lioness who only sought to make her own place within the world. Like a clam, beautiful, inside and out, and smooth, graceful on the outside, but an almost inpenetrable shell. Inside lay the currently dormant and vulnerable side of her, and just like a clam Ausi'Tai would clamp down unforgivingly at anyone that tried to get to it. To her, nothing was worse than having to share an existance with such a weakling, yet she knew that Tai was no less a part of her than the fur that they shared. They were two halves of the same stone. One side rarely saw the light while the other became smoothed from weathering, and glistened in the sun.

Ausi'Tai had become that neglected half. She was cold from months of being buried and forgotten in disuse, bitter from a lack of brilliance in her life, and had grown so accustomed to having short spurts of time to shine that when Tai did not fight to retake control Ausi'Tai was at a simple loss for what to do with herself. This was a new development. Had the twit finally come to her senses, or had Ausi'Tai's recent escapades been enough to drive her off for some undeclared period of rest?

It mattered little.

She could certainly grow accustomed to these lands, make home here. The place of her body's birth, the place where she and her "sister" had started off as one, somehow despite her coarse nature she felt drawn to it. There was an appealing lack of the more painfully stupid opposite sex here, but it had it's perks. There was Red, if she ever grew too bored, and there was her brother.

~Yes... I think we'll make home here.~

And maybe finally put an end to this stupid warring within her soul.

Now all that remained was to find out who led these lands, and to charm her way in.

-Ahhh the early hours. The peaceful serenity of the times when nearly all beings slumbered peacefully within warm and safe dens before they slowly began to rouse. Oh he loved watching everyone bustle around.. life passing by.. children playing.. adults hunting.. young love blooming.

But there was something beautiful about the serenity of the slumbering times. A time that let his mind finally fall to peace and not worry about all their was to worry.

It was almost appropriate that she should be seen at this time.. almost mirroring her sister's meeting. Though it seemed this time he would be the one seeking her.

As massive old paws carried the weight of the old lion along the lands, he watched the world pass by, stopping only when he saw a strange patch of white in the distance. He squinted... he knew of a few white members of his pride.. but his eye sight was beginning to fail him these days. Ecspecailly at such a distance. Changing his path, he began to make his way towards being in the distance, characteristic old smile falling upon his maw. He really should be learning to be more careful in his old age, this close to the border.-

Tai paused as she drew in close enough to Pride Rock to finally make out the shape of the king making his decent. The female slowed to a stop to await meeting the male halfway, standing at a calm, tail ticking to and fro amidst the grasses. It seemed she wasn't the only one up and about at this hour.

It was unusually polite of her, to wait around while some "oldtimer" made his approach, and goodness knew what it was he wanted anyway, but she felt in a giving mood for the moment. Perhaps her spirits were a bit elated by the lack of trouble her other half presented recently. Besides, this meeting could proove interesting in several different ways.

((Random, zomg, Iris, XD we should definitely do an Aunt/Niece RP sometime, and have Xu or Tai spot the other wandering around in the wee hours of the night/morning! Tai'd be all like: D:< WTF? Why do you look like my brother?))

((XD Hehe, it'd be fun. Or we could even loop it into the Jing and Xu rp if you wanted. Since they're both that lovely shade of white. :3 ))

-There had been more then one occassion where bodies in the distance had fleed from him with his approach. Perhaps pridelanders intimidated by meeting with him? Perhaps rogues and spies with ill intention?

But this lioness drew forward much to Mufasa's relief, and he pulled himself the rest of the distance between them, a wide smile settling upon his golden maw. Stopping a few strides away he called out tentatively, yet with a friendly air so charcteristic of the king.- "Good morning miss."

Ausi'Tai was surprised to find that this male seemed to have a genuine air of kindness about him, much unlike the lions she'd grown accustomed to meeting in her long lifetime. She'd never met the king or queen in her youth, though her mother probably had. She wondered if anyone from this land would even remember such a skittish thing, especially since their father had removed them from the lands shortly before they would have begun adolescence.

"Good morning," She "purred" in return, smoothly, glancing the male over in passing. He was large, seeming well fed, though not overweight. She might even go as far as to guess he might be the ruler that her mother had mentioned to them in whispers. She strained to recall a name. Mufasa... wasn't it? Icey orbs did flash with recognition, and she felt a bit more naturally at ease, now that she knew she had one up on the situation. "now, don't tell me you came all this way just to greet me," She teased good naturedly, though she did hope for some indication as to why he would. Was it simply in his nature? Was he the protector of these lands? Did he recognize her pelt, somehow? It was possible, their mother had a white pelt, though the silver markings Tai aquired had been from the b*****d. She also had their father's eyes, which he'd despised so much he'd even scarred one of them for her, leaving a nice clean slice over the left to remind her that she resembled him in color alone, too cowardly to be called his own.

-He was a weird lion in a way, though he himself very rarely took notice to it himself as it had been something that'd slowly happened throughout his many years. An indescribable trust in nearly everyone, the lack of fear that came when one was drawing so near to their end. An appreciation for life.. kindness. Truely an assention from thinking and worrying about oneself, to passing that thought and worry instead onto others. And not just his mate, but on the pride as a whole, the well being of those within his lands that he hadn't even met yet weighing on his mind as if they were best friends.

Royal blood force on the responsibility towards the people. But compassion, molded from years of experience was what truely called the king these days. She hadn't run, so she might need help, or perhaps.. even just enjoy company. And that was what had drawn him forward to the lioness, her purr and soft taunt only drawing him further in.

Smile widening further a soft chuckle escaped him, and he answered with a question.- "Surely everyone deserves a warm greeting, don't you think? And with most everyone else sleeping, I took it upon myself to do the job."

-Seriousness touching him momentarily, he fished gently, finding more often then not he had to be the one to initiate 'calls for help', if indeed that was the reason the lioness was resting along the borders this morning.- "Besides, more often then not if someone is out at a time like this, it's my presence that they're after."

((I don't even know where that first paragraph came from. ^ ^; Ranty ranty Iris ))

"Hmm... I suppose..."

She thought that was a rather foolish ideal, naive, at best, but she couldn't help that, nor could she bring herself to say it. All of the emotions that her better half chose to reject were shoved onto the half that stood before Mufasa now. There were certainly those deserving of much less than even a warm greeting, some of them already out and about during the daylight hours, her father amongst them, no doubt. Pessimism, distrust, malice, anger, annoyance, spite, disgust, all but fear. "Ausi" resented bearing these alone in and of itself. Why should only part of her get to shine with the sun? Why was she unable to feel the warmth on her heart that she often saw reflected on her other half's in such gracious amounts? It wasn't fair, she often thought with such bitterness that it left a tangible taste of disgust on her palet.

Yet, she didn't reveal this to the king, though her eyes did flash distantly for a moment insinuating that she was indeed lost in thought elsewhere. What would Red think if he saw her hesitating like this in speaking her mind? Well... if he'd care enough to make note she'd imagine he'd think she was going daft or soft.

"You're a figure of importance in this place then, I assume, and well accustomed to these early hours to be in such an outgoing mood. Even most of the birds seem to prefer sleeping still."

Her gaze remained calm, collected, much like the last lioness that Mufasa had the pleasure of meeting with at such a time, but their personalities differed quite drastically. This, partially attributed to the fact that they'd never met, made it pure coincidence that they were related (though not by blood).

"I'm afraid I've just a vague memory of this place, myself, however. The last time I'd been here I was still just a cub, my brother and I. I believe he's made home in these lands."

-He watched her with soft interest as she spoke, taking notice of the way she drifted momentarily. But he said nothing of it, so used to the drifting himself in his old age. In fact.. he could sit and think away half the day if he let himself.

When she answered however he simply nodded, stating his title matter of factly, before his words swayed to thing of more interest.- "Mufasa, king of the Pridelands. And the birds are unfortunate to be missing this time of day. When the land is cool and everything is peaceful, when the stars begin to fade and the sun rises."

-He tried to ponder on her statement.. not recalling her in particular from the past.. her pelt was white.. and he knew of a few white souls here, though whether or not they were old enough to have given birth to her, he did not know. And besides.. he himself had sired two children as red as fresh blood. Truely nature played tricks on occassion.- "Perhaps he has.. The Pridelands are always filling with new life."

"Welcome back to you..." -He paused oddly, realizing that he hadn't learned her name yet, but strayed from it softly.- "Have you come looking for him perhaps?"

Despite herself, Tai did feel a grin, even if just a lazy one. It was very interesting to her to meet someone who didn't seem put off by her presence, nor drawn in by it. When was the last time that either half had idle banter with a total stranger? Even Mteuli had gone under suspicion and been avoided when they first met.

"It's a pleasure, highness." Came the calm, confident, and surprisingly scincere sentiment. She was enjoying this encounter thus far, and found the king's behavior and sense of humor to strike an appeased and appealing chord within her. Too bad he seemed to be already taken. She imagined both she and her other half could agree on someone like him to take for their own.

(( xd TAI! Stop admiring the married men!))

You're too bold, Ausi!! Please don't do anything foolish! You'll get us into trouble again!

Do me a favor, dear, and see your way out of my mind while I'm in control. I don't interrupt the middle of YOUR conversations, don't you know that's rude? She thought back sarcastically smug, outwardly showing no signs of the argument.

"I've really just been more of a wanderer, as of late..." She replied smoothly again, tail giving an idle twitch. "I left home to follow him, originally, yes, but once I heard the rumors I thought it best to let him lead his own life."

At least, thus had been her other half's reasoning. It made for a nice explanation, however. Tai didn't like doing things just because of others.

"Starting my own, however, that I am fully interested in doing. I am curious to see this mate of his, as well. I think it only fitting for me to meet any half sister of mine and any children they may have had."

((Pervert Tai XD He's most certainly old enough to be her father, if not grandfather. *snuggles on the Muffykins*))

"The pleasure is all mine." -He himself was enjoying the conversation, happy to have his lonely mornings brightened by any company. And company that didn't seem to be in a hurry, or simply be visiting him for their own gain, well that just made the exchange that much more pleasant.

He pondered over her sentiment softly, his mind drifting back far far in the past to the days before his parents demise.. in the days when he himself had never known he would be king. He couldn't say he'd have wanted to wander.. if things had gone as they should have.. with his older brother having taken the throne. But if his family had left.. perhaps. His mind shifting to Koho in the dangerous Firekin lands. Responsibility tied him to the lands, and it was simply something he'd learned to try and live with.-

"Family tends to drag souls about the land it would seem, but there are points in which you have to let go.. and simply care for your own safety and happiness." -He spoke the words, though she probably didn't need them, before finally his gaze drifted onto her face again, a soft smile touching him.-

"These lands offer refuge for travelers and families however. If you'd like to stay for awhile. Perhaps if you ask around you may even find the brother you speak of."

Tai seemed to take this into uncertain consideration, looking away from the kind king to gaze over the landscape all around them instead. It was peaceful here, if just one glance was enough. If this male was any clue, also, then these lands probably hadn't seen much, if any, bloodshed in a long time. It seemed like this pride must be the absolute mirror opposite of her own back home. No snow covered mountains, rich pelted inhabitants, a friendly ruler, lush, alive, healthy lands, warmth all around, and food in abundant supply. And this is where she was born? No wonder mother had chosen this pride. It was tempting to say yes, yet Tai wasn't convinced yet. If she did settle down here what would that mean for her? A tame life for the rest of her days...? Was that really in her blood?

By the time she seemed satisfied in her surveillance, Tai returned her gaze to the gentle giant and nodded softly. "... I do thank you for your offer. I'll gladly accept for the time being. I'm not sure if I'm ready to truely settle down yet, but I'd like a chance to finally get to know my birthlands. Mother surely chose this place for a reason.... My name is Tai, Mufasa."

Normally she wouldn't even consider, but, just because she joined now didn't mean she had to stay for the rest of her life. She did, however, want to come to know the lands that had been her original home... find out why she'd been compelled to return here, and maybe even find out what life would have been like if her monster of a father hadn't stolen she and her siblings away.

"Well then, I wish you the very best of luck finding what it is you're looking for." -He smiled widely, almost confident she would find atleast one of the things here within these lands. Be it her brother. Answers from the past. Or a home of her own.

Eyes glancing softly back towards the rocks in the distance, his own family and home, he paused for a moment, before offering lightly.- "This early in the morning, means you've probably been traveling for awhile. Would you like help finding someplace to stay and fully rest before you begin your search for something a little more to your tastes?"

The female nodded as she listened to the king's words, but shortly after he finished speaking her attention diverted.

"Hm.... Thank you for your offer, but I think that I shall take this chance to familiarize myself a bit more first. I can sleep anywhere, I've always been rather fond of sleeping under the stars anyway."

She rose to her paws and dipped her head with a small smile of subdued gratitude. She was not one to grovel unecessarily.

"I'll bid you goodnight, King Mufasa,"

Once Tai had straightened again she offered a passing look of parting and excused herself to do just as she said. A kind king, she was curious to see if the lands of her birth still reflected such warmth. She was curious to find out of this still felt like home.
