crying My writing workshop teacher loved these kind of essays. Used to say that too many instructions inhibited our imagination. But the silly thing used always tell us we 'got it wrong' too!!! blaugh blaugh

I'm not much help except for the advice -- don't just describe about your character, who went to the window and looked out on to your 'outside scene' , and stay away from picnics!!!

Post back how many people wrote about those two things!!!

What is mla style? All my school essays have to have the opening paragraph, three body paragraphs, and a closing paragraph. Is that the same thing?

I had the exact same assignment many years ago in my high school creative writing class. What I did was get a picture of the area where I grew up (I grew up in the mountains).

Then I closed my eyes and visualized myself in the picture. I paid attention to the smells, to the feel of the wind, to the landscape. Then I just wrote about it. Honestly, it was the best thing I'd ever written (and still is).

But that's just me wink

Why don't you step outside? Look around you. Think about how being outside makes you feel. Then try to capture that feeling on the page in such a way that your reader can feel it too.
