[:.Setting .:]

Humankind cannot gain anything with out giving something in return,
To obtain, something of equal value must be lost,
That is Alchemy's first law of equivalent exchange,
In those days we really believed that to be the worlds one, and only truth.

-The setting is right before Hughes dies. He will most likely die in the first few posts. The Elrics are still traveling for the Philosopher's stone. In the beginning of this rp Ed and Al are going to Roy's office for more information and they will be arriving in town directly from another mission.

That same day she was also shot, but it only hit her shoulder. Which now has a scar. At 13 she made it in to become a state alchemist, where she was soon titled as the Blood Alchemist.

Bio: Ritsu was put up from adoption within minutes of his birth. His very shy personality made it hard for him to make friends. After being fostered by countless people, at the age of 8 he finally found himself as the child of a single parent, who just happened to be a state alchemist. Although his new father never taught him alchemy directly he often snuck some of his father’s books into his room. Ritsu had always been very smart and quickly picked up on some of the basic alchemy. When he turned 10 his new father was sent to the Ishbalan war leaving Ritsu alone in there large house with the maids and servants. With nothing else to do he got even more into alchemy, studying in all day is he could. About a year after his fathers departure, two soldiers came to his house to tell him that his father had gone missing during a battle and that they were unsure as to if he was alive or not. Now at the age of 15 Ritsu’s main goal is to become a state alchemist and find his father.

Even though she wasn't really part of their family, they always treated her like one, until she began to truley believe that they were. Because Toushirou wanted to learn how to use the sword, she went off to learn with him when their Father was at work. She was always like the older sister, even though she was a month younger then Toushirou. Whenever he went off ot find trouble, she would always have to stop him from doing something stupid. Because Toushirou was the faster learner, he ended up better at using the sword then she was, and smarter too. Enki ddin't have any friends as a kid and followed Toushirou everywhere he went and always called him Shiro-chan, which he doesn't let anyone call him. They had a hppy life until Shiro's Father died. Enki and Shiro sold the house and left Central, trying to make it out on their own. Ever since that, Shirou became more mature and responsible, where Enki became more spacey, almost as though they switched personalities.

Retta ran as fast as she possibly could. She needed to get to HQ and fast. It was raining hard onto her head, and she, ofcourse, hadnt brought an umbrella or anything. Suddenly she slipped, swearing on her way down to the hard cold ground.

The gray haired youth stood outside, his eyes scanning the crowd for a hint as to where to go. From a distance he appeared to be very feminine and was frequntly mistaken for a girl. His slim figure and short height gave him the appearance of a thirteen-year-old girl, when he was actually a fiteen year old male. His hair was now stuck against his wet face and clothes. Shivering slightly, he rubbed his arms to keep warm. He bit his lip then stopped at the steps of a large building. "Central?" he muttere reading a sign above the main entrance. He wiggled his numb fingers then placed a foot onto the second step, his left hand clutching an alchemy book against his side. " Wow, it really big. I'd probably get lost If I worked there," he chuckled rubbing the back of his head.

||H i t s u g a y a.

The two stood in the middle of the street, staring up at the large building, Central's headquarters. One was male, his white hair spiked up and his aqua blue eyes glaring at the building. He had hated the place every since he found out his Father was dead. Even though he knew it couldn't have been the military's fault, and his Father probably knew what he was doing, he needed to blame someone for the death. No matter how unfair it would be. Across his back was his sword, held there by a greenish colored piece of cloth that went acorss his chest and back. The hilt was wrapped with a teal colored thread with a star shaped metal piece. The sword was made to fit his height and he did get weird looks from people, a 12 year old carrying a sword. But most probably dismissed the thought, assuming it was fake. Though the truth was, it wasn't. The blade was sharper then any kitchen knife and made out of real, shining metal. Which left the question, did he ever kill or cut anyone with it. The serious expression, filled with a forced look of hate would lead people to believe so.

Slightly taller then the boy, was the one who stood next to him, a girl with dark hair and equally dark eyes. Under her right eye was a scar that came from the blade of her own sword. It was all due to her own carelessness and accidently sliced her cheek. She unlike her Brother, stared at the building, clearly fascinated even though she had seen it so many times before. "Wow..." Enki gasped, now squeezing her brother's left hand. "Look, Shiro-chan!" She squeaked out of excitement. Shiro sighed and shook his head, unable to hold back a smile that tugged at his lips. He stared at the cement steps that led up to the main doors. They always did every time they went back to Central, almost like sightseeing, but seeing things that they had seen all their life. Toushirou looked up, seeing little drops of wet rain begin to fall out from the darkening sky and then over at Enki, who didn't seem to notice, or care.

Landing on the ground with her hands bracing her, she swore again as a shock wave of pain went up through her arms. Sitting down, already on her knees, she stared at her hands. They were dirty and wet, just like the rest of her. Sighing, she rose to her feet, only to stumble forwards. It was her ankel, it had been twisted badly when she had slipped. Sighing, she stumbled on. Not being able to put much weight on it, her foot dragging limply behind her.

This is not
Hell but you can see it from here
In the place I have grown to fear
Where devils laugh and angels cry
Where light and dark collide

Silence, peace, and prosperity. This was just one of those wonderful days that you could enjoy completely without any hesitation or thought about it. The blue sky shone brightly inside the gray oculars of one staring up at it, the sun making her eyes shimmer with gorgeous adoration of the heavens as the rays of light hit her paled skin, warming it with just a kiss upon each small cell that made herself of everything she knew and loved of life. The touch of the sweet tingle within her skin could be felt upon her forehead as silky, gray colored hair whisped in the soft, soothing breeze of the day as the rest of her glistening hair strands were pulled back into a low hanging braid, two strands seperately made on purpose to hang down upon her chest as the wind moved them slightly to the right side of her as she sat upon a bench within Central, close to Central's Headquaters of the military of which she despised with a burning passion of a thousand suns. Harsh, yes, but to her, it was only right that she hated them for their lack of training and ways of protecting the people as they promise they would. Her outfit was that of something simple, not as if she were planning on going to anywhere fancy. A white T-Shirt with a light blue vest over and a black skir that stopped at her thighs. On her feet was nothing but a pair of white socks and black boots that went to the middle of her shins. The girl, when standing, would be the height of 5'0", just an inch taller than the dear state alchemist Edward Elric. She was about the same age as the boy, being a year younger, and yet she was still taller, but of course, she truly didn't mind it since she didn't know him at all.

Her mind seemed to be empty with thought as many things raced through her head. How was she going to get some money for her next few meals? Where was she going to stay now? What would her family do in such a situation? Oh..her family. That hit a tender spot within her heart, it beating faster as she thought of her beautiful mother, her blond hair curling about her face and brown oculars shut with a gorgeous smile that showed the loving and tenderness that she always received when she saw her, even when she would get in trouble, her mother could never hide her true feelings of her only daughter. Then her father, a nice handsome man with gray hair and gray eyes. That's where she got her hair color from, her father. She didn't mind it, it was a nice memory considering she looked dead like her mother, just the color of hair and eyes from her father. It was a nice combination, that was, if anyone asked her. Then came her brother..a strong young man who had black hair, which would gray sooner or later as he got older. Her brother was only the age of ten, but she treated him as if he were that of an adult. Her other brother, having a mixture of eye color and hair color that didn't quite matched, but still, that didn't matter at all. He had the hair of his mother and the eyes of his father, a nice built body as he was the age of twenty. He was an alchemist, unlike her. He was the only one in the family that was, for her father never allowed the practice of it unless you were the rightful age of eighteen. He was planning so hard to become a State Alchemist, her giving the military all her respect. Of course, he promised to tell her when he had become it, of course..that day never came for him.

The day she turned thirteen was the day she left to travel. Her parents allowed this quite well and sent her off with the right amount of money for a year that would help her along until she came home to visit. They had enough to lone her that much, and plus, she'd work it off when she finally finished traveling. Of course, a year later when she came back, the site of her beautiful town shocked her. The once beautiful town that she lived in that was flourishing with fruits and people, as well as a sparkling river of blue, was englufed in flames and ashes. When she saw her own house and family underneath the rubble, it ripped her heart in half, and made hatred be born within the girl that seemed to be so innocent. She blamed the Military, and truely believed that they did nothing to help, which she didn't know was true, but she had her heart set upon that theory. Whatever it took to get back at those people for what they did was what she would do. She wasn't going to talk to any officer from that military at all..if she ever did, it would only be to cuss them out like they rightfully should be. They took away her happiness, her love, her caring side..her secure place to where she could always escape to whenever she needed it. Of course, now that was with her family up in heaven, but it wasn't as good as when she could run into her parents arms and give them a hug. It had been so long that she forgot of her wonderful feeling when hugging them..let alone even the touch of their warm skin and kind hearts.

Before she knew it, a few tears had appeared within her eyes, threatening to fall as they glistened wonderously in the bright sun. A few of them fell, her not being able to contain it. "Oh mother...father..brothers, I miss you so much.." She stated, soon wiping her tears from her face. There was nothing in the world that would be able to comfort her of those thoughts, of those wonderful feelings, well, that she at least knew of. She pulled out a picture from her shirt, looking upon it. It was her with her family, the day before she left. She smiled softly, giving it a soft kiss. "I'll never forget you..I promise.." She stated in a whisper, placing the picture back into her shirt as she soon stood up. Another day seemed to pass, which brought her another day closer to her death and another day closer to finally seeing her family, which her heart ached for so badly now a days. If only there was a way to bring them back..she had heard that Alchemy could, but it was a law that you couldn't use it, which is why she didn't bother trying to learn Alchemy and getting herself into anything. She knew better than to mess with fate or destiny, or whatever you wanted to call it. She'd leave it be until her own fate came to her and allowed her to be reunited with her family once more..that's what she truly thought, and that's what she would go by, no matter what anyone else said..nothing would change her hearts desire and thoughts.

The red sky is searing me
Swallowing my serenity
Where hatred makes its nest
Inside my hollowed chest
There's nothing sacred here

"Come on, it's starting to rain." The grey haired boy said. Unlike his sister, he hated the rain for reasons he was unsure of. But ever since he was just a baby, he had always hated the rain and would lock himself up in his room whenever it rained. To him, it always seemed to have a weird depressing feeling to it, with the dark sky, and the deserted streets. The rain just annoyed him to no end. Enki on the other hand, was ht ecomplete opposite. As a child, she would always run out of their little house, wearing her big yellow rain boots and jump in giant puddles of murky rainwater. There really was no point in wearing the boots since the water would wet her feet anyways. Enki always tried to make her brother come out and play in the rain with her but he wouldn't even talk when it rained outside. Though he always watched her through the window of his bedroom, as though he wanted to but was too scared of some unexplainable thing. Enki always felt bad whenever she found herself wishing for the rain to come, but she couldn't help it.

Just noticing the little drops of water landing on her face, Enki looked over at Toushirou, uncertain as to how he would react. Even though she and him were close, she had never in her whole entire life, seen him cry. Not even when his Father died. Enki had broken down in tears that day and Toushirou had to try and comfort and calm her down. The two were like complete opposites, which made Enki laugh to know that they were so close. "Let's go then." Enki said, forcing herself to think about how much Shiro hated the rain. And the last thing she wanted was for him to get all distant and refuse to say more then three words at a time. The girl turned and began walking away from the headquarters, pulling her Brother along behind her. As the rain began to fall faster, the quckened their pace. Their hair and clothes were completely soack and the streets were beginning to empty out as the last of the citizens ran for shelter. They headed over to the inn that they aways stayed at whenever they visited Central. The inn owner was an old friend of their father's and always welcomed them whenever they went to rent a room.

They stopped within a block from the inn as the rain really began to pound down upon their heads. Toushirou groaned, cursing the sky for letting it rain like that when they didn't have shelter and for even raining at all. Shiro stood there, looking up and down the empty street. A little further down were three little kids, who liked around the age of five, gathered around an old women. Her back was hunched forward and she leanded on a cane, her white hair soaked. He didn't like minding other people's business but he didn't mind helping. It was all part of that little kid dream to become just like his Father, who became a State Alchemist with the will of helping people in need. Even though he died in the end, which made Toushirou resent him. He hated him for risking his life for others, while forgetting that there were still two kids waiting for him at home who also needed him. But in Shiro's mind, he told himself that his father completely forgot about them. Maybe that was the only way he was able to get over his idol's death. Everything was so much easier that way. Though even with all the thoughts of hatred, he couldn't help but want to do the same as his old man. Within all the cursing, he deeply admired him.

Ritsu’s eyes scanned the steps, his eyes dancing with curiosity. It was rare for him to be so hesitant, but he felt it was wrong to just barge in and say ‘ Hey, My Father was a state alchemist so its your job to take care of me.’ He frowned, biting the corner of his lip gently. Lifting all the his weight from his left foot and transferring it to his right he lifted himself onto the second step. He glanced around himself paused to one more time think about going up another step. His Cold and numb fingers grasped the leather Beginner’s alchemy book tightly not wanting such a book to get anymore wet then it already was. He tugged on the outside of his blue over jacket then slipped the book inside. “ No good wet are you?” he laughed. He had tried to keep his mind of the fact the he was cold, but he couldn’t ignore it if he was shivering as hard as he was now. He glanced around himself again only this time to notice a few other children. Most of them seemed younger then himself, but he wasn’t that interested anyways and dropped the thought all together. Courage filling him again he hoisted his cold, shaking and now drenched body onto the third step. What was he waiting for? His mind keep telling him. ‘Just go in. Just go in’, but he really didn’t want to. He would much rather go when it wasn’t so wet and after he had gotten a full night to think it over.

Ritsu had often heard that the people working there weren’t the nicest of people and didn’t like children, but that wasn’t true, right? What about the Elrics, they were children right? So didn’t that mean there was nothing to be afraid of? He patted down his damp gray hair then swore under his breath. “Ok Ritsu, your going in!” he said loudly curling his finger into a fist. “ Alright! Here I go!” he yelled moving onto the fourth step and then the fifth. Finally hoisting himself onto the last step he slowly moved his limp body towards the door. He wrapped his tiny hand around the handle then paused again. “I’m...Gonna...I’m going in. Come one Ritsu, go in,” he muttered to himself. Quickly jerking the door open a cold rush of air caame to greet him. He quickly jumped inside then let the door slam behind him. "'Scuse me Sir, Something you need?" asked a man in uniform behind a desk. "Uh, well, My father, well you see. He went missing, and he's a state alchemist and I thought maybe someone would have a place where I could stay!" he said loudly letting it escape his lips in one breath.

Ritsu smiled, crossing his arms. That wasn't so hard, was it? Yes, maybe the Fuhrer would say that he knew his father and that he would take him in or maybe everyone would be fighting over him. "How old are you kid?" he asked tapping a pencil on the desk. He seemed rather annoted by Ritsu's appearance. " Does It matter," he asked raising an eyebrow. The officer only grumbled then stepped out from behind his desk. Ritsu winced slightly, his body starting to shake. "Come on kid," he muttered walking a few steps then waiting for Ritsu to catch up. Risu smiled then ran to the side of the man. "I don't think I can help you much, but maybe I can get you a room in the inn across the street," he said calmly. The man's face semed to have softened and ritsu felt comfortable walking beisde the man, who towered over him.
