Next we encounter the asteroid belt. "KX76" is the largest known asteroid, located near Pluto. One asteroid, Ida, actually has it's own moon, Dactyl!! eek Asteroids are categorized according to the amount of light they reflect back from the sun; this also implies their compositional makeup...

confused ... another source of info I was re-reading today on the asteroid belt said that there were 4,000 identified asteroids (of something like 100miles+ diameter) and that astronomers think there may be upwards of 10,000...
