Miles Lowry is a young Necromancer that's learning about his powers. He runs a family business with his grandfather and friends. Their company slogan is Happier Times: 'Where Life and Death Work Together.' He's young, about 16-ish with sandy brown hair and light skin.

CLOTHING: During practice and 'office hours', Necromancers wear special ceremonial robes with certain colors representing the level of their power. When a Necromancer 'levels up' they receieve a new color of robe from the High Elders and thus gain more respect and prestige in the Necromancer community. But like all things, it's not quite as simple as this. Some people abuse their power of course.

POWERS: We need more Necromancers but with varifying skill levels. Also, remember that anything you try to revive ALWAYS comes back wrong and scary in some shape or form, as it's part of the conflict of the story. This conflict is essential to the mythology of this RP and you can't avoid that. (until I say otherwise) Thanks for understanding, and happy character creating!

Necromancering (sp?) is a specialized skill and they don't just deal with bringing back dead folk. They can also call upon lost feelings or old memories that have lost their magic or 'special something'. Like those special times where you just felt so pure and you want to try to get that emotion back. Of course performing these rituals always has bad, hellish side effects and a good Necromancer always warns their clients before proceding.

Necromancers fear change and believe that supreme happiness is the ultimate goal that's above both life and death. Some Necromancers are quite philosophical about their craft, others only care about making a buck. They don't always agree on things, but they attempt to get along.

Since Miles is the star of the show he is going to be slightly better at his role than (most) others. Miles currently wears a Blue robe (I'll explain the level of powers in my next post) and is generally well-liked throughout his city although some of his peers label him as a suck-up.

ROBE COLORS

Gray: All potential Necromancers can wear this robe, which literally means everybody in the world. Some people never get past this stage as it represents the possibility of power, instead of actual Necromancer abilities. Gray robes are very cheap and some 'wannabes' enjoy wearing them although wearing anything else when you're not really a Necromancer is a violation of federal law and you could be thrown in prison.

White: White Robes are given when people successfully ressurect their first corpse or spirit or feeling or whatever. This is considered a glorious moment for some, and many Necromancers are content on just staying White. (a lot of NPCs will be White color since it still might be unappealing to players)

Green: Green Robes are given to people who show more skill over the years. Many people, after their first ressurection, get too proud of themselves and just stop. A green robe shows you're serious and dedicated about your gifts. (most RPers need to be this robe)

Blue: Blue Robes are given to potent and powerful Necromancers who are even farther along in the craft than their Green counterparts. However, Blue is different in the sense that it's considered 'rare' and can be given out willy nilly just for having raw power without training or knowledge. (This color is reserved for Miles and perhaps the villain of the story)

Blue robes are actually rarer than Purple robes but Purple-robed people are still considered much better.

Purple: Purple robes are reserved only for people who have come incredibly far in their profession and show little to no weaknesses. It is given to the most hard-working and noble (or at least what the community in general thinks of as hard-working and general) Necromancers. Actually, the community doesn't get much to say on who wears Purple Robes, the decision is made by four haughty adults known as the 'Elite Four.'

(Yes, I know that's from Pokemon. Bite me! XD)

Wearing Purple Robes also means you've learned to MINIMIZE the side effects of your Necromancing abilities. They're still there, but you've weakened their power somewhat. This is considered a HUUUUUGE feat for all of Necromancer-kind.

Golden: This is the highest state of Necromancer Enlightment. There hasn't been a single Golden robe handed out yet. This is because the Golden Robe is reserved for Necromancers who actually revive something in its pure state with no bad side effects whatsoever, or otherwise a complete and perfect ressurection. Since this hasn't happened yet, the Golden Robe is currently unavailable. Many people don't believe it exists and claims that the whole thing is just an old wives' tale. They actually might be right, as the Golden Robe is a mere legend.

Prophecy states if somebody shall receive a Golden Robe (they have to go through all the other colors' first) than they will be the most honored person in the world. There won't be world peace or anything cliche like that, but let's just say they'll be very famous and be considered Gods.

PROFILE

Please fill out all sections clearly when making your character. As of present time only Necromancers or regular humans shall be accepted, as it's the only class in the game.

Name:

Age:

Sex:

Background/Physical Descriptions:

Robe Color: (Gray, White, and Green robed people should be accepted with little to no trouble. However, you have to come up with a very good story or twist to be considered a Blue or Purple robed person.)

Speciality: Not all Necromancers were created equal. Certain Necromancers can simply revive certain things better based on their inherent personality and genetic make-up, even puny ol' White-wearers. What type of animal or person (or maybe even people in general) or feeling or even situation is your character exceptionally good at reviving?

Does your character believe in the 'Golden Robe' legend?: (This is a simple yes or no question but you can give a further explantion if you so desire.)

Remember, not everybody can be Blue or Purple 'cause where's the fun in that? Green is still very powerful remember that. =) Blue is just better, but still has all the nasty side-effects.

Name: Miles Lowry

Age: 16

Sex: Male

Background/Physical Description: Miles grew up as a natural leader, but always felt kind of alone even though he knows a lot of people by association. He's a bit of a perfectionist, and is hated by other kids sometimes because he doesn't let them get away with much. Miles is short and kind of androgenous looking. He has brown eyes and light brown hair. He hates this because he feels that his complexion and eye color really doesn't go with the color of his robe, but he can't complain too much.

Miles is the vice-president of Happier Times. Only his grandfather, a purple-robed person (we'll need somebody to play this) is ahead of him in power. He works part-time and goes to school part-time. His main goal in life is to learn all he can about Necromancy and to receive his Purple Robe someday.

However, Miles can be awfully idealistic and many people don't listen to him because of his age and they consequently ignore his authority. So yes, Miles does believe in the Golden Robe legend although he's honestly not egotistical enough to think that he has a chance of something so awe-inspiring.

Speciality: Being young and idealistic himself, Miles is great at reviving small children which makes him a big fan to emotional, middle-aged women. Many people come to him after losing a child as he's able to bring that child back with an almost 100% success rate, although the side-effects are still there and he's sad that he can't really do anything about that. He tries to do the best he can, but he always wants more.

Miles is so idealistic that he hates his own special power since he really doesn't like kids much despite his beliefs. So he's good at what he does and it pays the bills, but he's sometime jealous of other people's power and this is something his grandfather helps him with.

THE NECROMANCER BIBLE

This special post will explain the dos and don'ts of Necromancers and any rules we have with their magic. This will be updated from time to time so check back often!

1. Everything you return, can't be as it once was. Perfection is tainted as is the world, and will come back 'wrong.' These events will be unforeseen to you. This means that all successful ressurections will have something go wrong, and that something will also be frightening and surprising, like a horrible nightmare that you can't get rid of. But still, this is better than letting that person simply return to dust. Right... RIGHT?

2. A failed ressurection will have even greater side effects and might summon horrible demons that will feed off the living. This is to add drama and angst to those special times when the spell just doesn't work. Your 'speciality skill' in your profile decreases the chance of a failure happening dramatically when you use said speciality. Remember that!

I'll explain more about these creatures in my next post!

ABOMINATIONS

These horrible, hellish demons, ghouls, vampires, Undead, and scary-a** things in general that you naturally want to run away from, might occur when a Necromancer spell fails. What's even more troublesome is that the person that brought the demon back is the only one that can defeat it but doing so requires a lot of bravery.

To balance the scales, the Gods of the earth will imbue the Necromancer with extra firepower to defeat the beast as ressurection skills in general aren't very combat-y. However, these special powers will fade away forever once the demon is destroyed. The powers given to you when a spell fails are random, and will be chosen solely by me. You could get a basic fireball, or a teleportation spell, or enhanced super strength. Who knows!

This vicuous cycle of power unfortunately makes some Necromancers addicted to the craft because they do indeed have more power when they mess up! Therefore, some Necromancers actually mess up on purpose and create all these demons just to get that high. It's sad really, but a fault of human nature.

Some demons are still loose to this day, wrecking havoc. They're weak against holy relics and santcuary places. But remember, the Gods are all about free will and choice so the power they give you will only grant you the POSSIBILITY to defeat the bad guy you unleashed.

IMMORTALS: Immortals are few and far between but are VERY deadly. They can't be vanquished as the Necromancers who revived them died themselves before having a chance to finish them off. They are known as the Eternal Dead, and pride themselves as such. They can still be banished and contained with enough power, but they can't ever be totally destroyed.

(Whew! That's it for now guys, feel free to start makin' some characters!!)

Name: Drakkar

Age: looks 25, is really 1,000

Sex: Male

Background/Physical Description: Drakkar is an 1,000-year-old Immortal One that was accidentally ripped out of heaven from a former Purple-robed Necromancer that tried to bring back The Peace, otherwise known as the split second when everything was perfect and there was nothing wrong at all with the world.

Drakkar easily murdered the Necromancer that brought him back and has spent many years destroying villages, creating schemes and generally being all evil-like. Drakkar has long, black hair a sinister smile and has strong, bulging muscles. Drakkar is a tortured soul, as he has been cast out of heaven against his will and vows to destroy all Necromancers for taking away the only peace he ever really felt. There's also more about his heritage that remains a mystery.

Drakkar is unclear about his memories or the fact that he was even in heaven. He simply is aware of a 'better time' and is filled with so much rage that his perfect life was taken from him.

Drakkar can be immobilized (like he's under the 'Stop' spell) for short periods of time if enough Necromancers band together and begin praying, but the spell doesn't last long. Also, he has Fallen so much that it takes him awhile to seek out another Necromancer and kill them. Sometimes he just has fits where he goes crazy, doesn't know what he's doing and just backs off from attacking.

Drakkar's Immortal powers include a very advanced form of Super Strength as well as telekinesis and the Devil's ability to hit people's achilless heel, or their natural weak spot. He can also mind control people who are very weak and get them to commit suicide quite easily.

When Drakkar appears, the Gods are a bit more forgiving and will give the Necromancers added juice. This might drive some White Necromancers insane from so much power but it's a risk they take to ensure that Drakkar doesn't destroy everything in his path.

Drakkar is played by me and will be the main villain in the story. So we might need minions people! Also, Drakkar is so powerful that when encountering him it will take a large group of people working together to hold him back or they'll most certainly be toast.

If you would prefer the profile to be in the Ooc, tell me and I'll delete this post. Also, I'd love to have a second character as a minion, if that's alright.

Name: Ryen

Age: 19

Sex: Female

Background/Physical Description: Ryen is a resurrected being herself, and bears the mark. One of her arms is horribly twisted, which she hides with a long glove. Some hypothesize that there were... other side effects, but the necromancer never mentions them, and they never interfere with her work. Although it was her family that paid to bring her back, they disinherited her shortly after her reanimation.

Ryen is a green robe, specializing in bringing back old emotions and memories, focusing on the mental aspect rather than the physical, for obvious reasons. Her opinions on resurrection remain a mystery. The woman also spends a great deal of time counseling resurrected beings, as well as fighting for their rights.

The woman is slightly obsessed with the myth of the Golden Robe, hoping that if it's true, somehow she might be "fixed."

Aside from her long black glove, Ryen has few interesting physical characteristics. Has shortly cropped blonde hair, emphasized by her black clothing, which usually covers all of her body, including the neck. However, she wears only one glove, leaving the other hand uncovered. When asked about it, she says, "I am not ashamed." Despite her bold claim, she rarely, if ever, takes the glove off. Her once blue eyes are now black, although few in the office would know of their prior state.

Name: Nimue

Sex: Female

Age: ?

Background/Physical Description: A servant of Drakkar, Nimue was born milleniums ago, near the beginning of civilization. Originally a mortal, the woman was once a witch queen, who ruled her kingdom with justice, albeit harshly. However, when her son died, she came to a necromancer to save him. His resurrection failed, and the woman was nearly killed by the resulting demon.

Furious, the witch queen destroyed her kingdom searching for another way to save her son. Partaking in a ancient ritual, she sold her soul to bring him back. For ages she slaved in hell, until she was released by Drakkar, who bound her to his service. Filled with a deep loathing of necromancers, the woman follows the Immortal gladly.

A striking woman, there is something in the Queen's face that testifies to her station. There is an ancient dignity in her manner, something that not even hell could break. Long black hair frames her hardened face, and clear blue eyes peer out of her pale skin. She is taller than most woman, and wears a simple white tunic, the dress of a peasant.

Powers: Although her years of servitude have somewhat decreased her abilities, Nimue is slowly regaining her powers, and currently has pyrokinesis, as well as skill with a blade, the same she bore eons ago.

demagoguery: Those two characters are excellent! Great job.

Wingless: I think I want Drakkar as the main bad guy but you could be another minion I guess, or a bad guy that's not related to him at all.

Tell me what you had in mind (but over in the OOC thread please!)

(Everything important that wasn't given it's own section is in italics.)
Name: Rico Delleon

Age: 23

Sex: male

Background/Physical Descriptions: Rico was an Adonis, tall, well built, with long dark brown hair, soft green eyes and a stunning smile. He was a Necromancer none-the-less, and has been followed the trail of Nimue for well over a year now, for he was plotting his revenge. In one of the many disturbances that Drakkar created, his companion had felled Rico’s fiancé. Afraid to resurrect her, even with his great ability to resurrect women, he set off for revenge. It was the least he could do, for he could never bring back his bride, not until he has taken on the Purple Robe which his grandfather and mother have done before him.

He believes very little in the Golden Robe, thinking of it as a bedtime story, something to give weak people hope. Currently he’s in possession of the Green Robe, for he’s been learning the craft ever since he was a young child.

Cool! Hmm he sounds hot heh.

Okay, think we have enough characters to start? I don't know. Oh and how exactly should we start? Up to you guys I guess. I figured we could have our first client maybe?

Normally I'd talk about this in OOC but...meh. I'm lazy. XD

(Well we have multiple characters, so I believe that perhaps we should skip the boring and mundane beginning, and get straight into the fray…GRRRR *Needs more sleep* Or not ^^ Also, people can still join whenever they'd like, soooo.)

Rico had been at Happier Times for a couple weeks now, having temporarily lost the track of his prey, and having diminished his once potent funds. It’s because of his funds and skills that he’s now working at Happier Times as a temp job.

Now he stands beside the door to the building, watching the roads with eager anticipation. In his free time this was what he did, for the roads carried people and with people was information, plus some easy cash until that information came to him. He was leaning against the building, his dark green robes fluttering slightly in the soft eastern wind. With a sigh he ran her fingers through his hair and glanced at the door. “What a dead day...” He grinned at that, not even trying to be funny. “Or maybe a living one.” He began to chuckle at that, and instead of linger outside he entered the building.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 26, 2006 4:13 pm

Ryen waved at Rico absently as she flipped through some paperwork, searching for information on her latest client. An extremely twisted child was huddled in her office, rocking back and forth, his eyes filled with terror. Two adults, presumably the parents, were sitting on the other side of the room, looking horrified.

Examining a file, Ryen returned to her office. The paperwork wasn't really necessary, but it helped calm her clients down, as well as herself. It was all she could do to keep from slapping the parents for treating their child this way. However, she had learned to contain her rage, and instead spoke calmly.

"Mr. and Mrs. Furlon," she said, seating herself, "we did have you sign several papers saying you understood the procedure, and its risks. Now, your son... Danny is it?" she directed the question at the boy, looking directly at him. It was important to make him feel human, especially now, when his parents were so obviously afraid of him.

After a short pause, the boy nodded, and Ryen relaxed a little. It was good that he still had some memories of his past life. It would make the transition much easier.

"Now," she repeated, "your son, Danny," she emphasized the "your son," it was important to reestablish their parental roles, "is extremely frightened, and you're not helping matters. Yes, there will be some changes. He has been through a very painful experience. But he is still your son and needs you."

"He doesn't act like Danny," the mother interupted, casting a frightened look at the boy.

Ryen groaned inwardly, her fingers clutching her file a little tighter. "People change Mrs. Furlon," she said, "Danny will never be the same. But he's still integrally the same person."

"What the hell does that mean?" the father snapped, holding his now sobbing wife, "If he doesn't act the same, then he isn't the same."

"No," Ryen said slowly, "Look, if it helps, imagine he's been away for a year. The experience has changed him, but he's still Danny."

"But his face," the woman sobbed, "he looks so..." she trailed off, descending into more weeping.

Ryen pulled off her glove and held up her twisted arm. "It happens," she said, looking directly at Danny, "it doesn't mean you can't lead a rich fulfilling life. It doesn't mean you're any less of a person."

The boy had finally stopped rocking, staring at the arm in awe. The mother had likewise stopped sobbing, and both parents looked at the arm dumbfounded. "You?" the father started, then stopped.

"Yes," Ryen said, trying to hide her anger, "the resurrected are people too. Now, I recommend counseling. I can put you in touch with several great doctors who can help him with his disabilities and put him in physical therapy. I also have some counselors to help you recover as a family. The road will be hard, but I promise you, it's worth it."

She got up, extending her claw. The parents looked at it for an instant, but the boy immediately jumped up and shook it, smiling shyly. The family then left, the mother even putting her arm around her son.

"Could have been worse," Ryen muttered, glancing at her schedule. Miles had her down for another appointment in twenty minutes. Closing her eyes, she leaned back in her chair, thinking.
