I just saw a 450 watt Behringer amp on Musiciansfriend.com, and I was wondering if the $350 price was because there is something wrong with them. that seems really low to me considering a 120w amp I saw cost more than that.

Can you provide a link to the amp in question? Is it a combo amp? Or a head or a Cabinet? I bought an Ultrabass Cabinet and a 300 watt head for around $600 US.

Then again, it's not the greatest. It's not as loud as i'd like, and sometimes it struggles to keep up with my Guitarists Line 6 head.

Behringer is the bottom of the barrel as far as name brands go, not worth the risk in my opinion.

Not necessarily true. Their $20 pedals are supposed to be nearly exact replicas of the boss pedals. Behringer's no Ampeg, but if you're just looking for decent tone at high volumes, it's not a bad place to go.

And to the nay sayers, obviously behringer's aren't top class, but not everyone can afford triple rectifiers and 8X10's. When buying guitar gear, buy really cheap stuff for the time being, or really expensive stuff you plan to keep forever. Generally, mid-range gear just loses value, and you're not likely to want to keep it that long.

They're pedals for the most part are trash as well, had a couple. I would steer clear of Behringer and save for something...not Behringer. My first amp was a Behringer BX600 and I regret it, sold it after a month and that mixed with my tax return bought me my Ashdown half-stack. I learned from that too, don't settle for something cheaper than what you want, it may sound similar on some freak occasions, but it will only make you want it more and hate what you have.

That's why you gotta try before you buy. Behringer tends to put out some amps that are dead on arrival. However, occasionally you'll run across one that was built really well and, for the price, sounds really good.

I'd rather not risk it, and if you live in small a** town like me and the nearest large guitar store is 200 miles away, I kinda need to go by word of mouth.

you can get 1000 watt behringers for cheap, but the reason why they're so cheap is because they suck a** and fall apart.

Once again, this is not necessarily true. Though I wouldn't recommend ordering one, Behringer's aren't terrible for the price. They're cheap because a lot of them are pretty much junk. However, you can also find very nice sounding gear randomly for cheap. You just have to try before you buy.

honestly i say behringer makes good speaker cabinets, not so much heads and combos. if you're talking about that 4x10" combo, it is to good to be true, i've played through one in a local shop, i did'nt like the preamp in it. i did however like the lone 4x10" speaker cabinet used with a Fender 200 Watt head.

I disagree. I have a Behringer 4X10 combo, 450 watts. It has a great tone, some nice features, and it's pretty solid. I wouldn't want to risk dropping it, but it's serves a good purpose, and i got it really cheap. But if you have the money, Gallien-Kreuger is my personal favorite brand.

I got the Behringer 450watt Bass amp for Christmas.

I hope it doesn't die on me. Kind of worried now, reading all the comments above.
