A lone desert world, orbiting a triple sun system, devoid of green life floats listlissly through space. It is a harsh climat, yet one very near to our own. There is no record of trying to terraform this world, for it simply lacked the resorses nessisary to support life. Too much silicone.

However, many people have tried and failed to colenize this world on it's own. Building compounds on top of each successive failier. They thrive for a while, then suddenly die out. What the people of each attempt did not know, is that they share this world with another.

A completly seperate species of creature. Their ship landed here Eons ago, and the race has slowly begun to awaken from their stasis. What the human's don't know, (Not that they know about this race anyway.) is that there are two seperate factions in this species. One, dedicated to the elavation of the human race to the status of GodHood.

And the other dedicated to the eradication of the humans.

Their ship has been covered by the sands of the world for many hundreds of years, before the humans even began to fly in their rickety wooden planes. Even so, their tech remains a force to be wrekoned with. Yet, still they remain hidden.

They remain hidden until the day when Humans will once again grace their world with their footsteps. Until the day their sensors pick up the human ships approching.

Sir, I'm droping into the atmosphere to check out our landing area. Over

Howie droped the pelicons nose slighty and headed for the surface. He stoped his decent at 10,000 feet. He scaned over the surface for any life forms and detected nothing. He opened another COM.

Sir, landing zone clear. We can land. I'll remain at this altitude till you arrive. Over

"Copy that. Valkyrie Rose burning a trail. Over."

Higher in the atmosphere, a single ship slowed, her distinktive twin prow design flickering with an orange light as the friction turned into flame. At her controls, her captain and Pilot sat, fighting to keep the ungainly ship stable in the atmosphere.

"She wasn't designed to be as graceful in the atmo."

Quickly, the ship burned her way past the pelican, leaving a smoky trail.

"Follow us in Pelican one. Just not to close to our slip stream."

Yes Sir.

Howie followed behind keeping a safe distance from the slip stream.
The ground was comeing up fast and Howie pulled out of the step decent at 200 feet to give cover in case of a ambush or attack of any sort. He would land after everyone was secure and safely on the ground.

Sir, I'm going to remain in the air till everyone is safely on the ground. Over.

"Rodger."

With a sudden burst of flame sprouting from the underside of the Rose, as well as the twin engines mounted with the plasma guns, she slowed her decent. Inside the ship, the wind screen was red hot and the inside was lit with orange as she bruned her way through the atmo. Rasa keyed the controls to adjust the entry bur, so that they would settle in right over the base.

On the inside of the prows, two flames burst into life. Below the spin drive, two more burst into being, keeping the ship ballanced on it's way in. A few monutes later, a soft bump announced the safe landing of the ship and the flames died away, allowing the dust to settle before the people could disembark.

"We're down. Come on in."

Howie flew back and forth over the landing zone waiting for everyone to land.
It took about 20 minutes for all the ships to land. As the last ship landed softly on the ground he opened his COM

Stay out the way Pilots, Pelican one comeing in. Over.

How droped done to a landing area and turned on the bottom thrusters to drop down slowly. When the ship was about three inches from the ground he shut off the engines and as the ship hit the ground the langing gear coild up to take the shoke.

Rasa clambered out of his seat to adress the bridge crew as well as the people waiting in the lounge area.

"Okay everyone. We should be acceptable to disembark. Everybody off!"

Rose, the second in comand, laughed as the captain joked around with his crew as well as his passengers. For some, this would remain their home. For others, this would be their transport, as she was designed to be.

Howie came walking over a little late for the breifing. He stood at the back waiting for his commands. He liked getting trigger time. He was probly one of the better pilots in the squad. He had been in many dog fights and always came out on top.

"Okay! This is for everyone here. You all have been selected from both rosters to accompany us here. This base was once teaming with human life. Fifty years ago, it vanished without a trace. Now, we are here to find out why. Pilots, tend to your ships. All others, go exploring. Find out what went on here if you can. Everyone else, to your posts."

Rasa steps down from his little podium and makes his way over to Rose.

"So how was that?"

"One of your better ones sir."

Meanwhile, in another area, blinking lights flash in the darkness. A vent of steam hisses into the empyness, sounding off the first sound in over fourty years.

Howie walked to his ship and started the take off sequence. Once the techs gave him the go signal the doors to the ships hangar opened and out went the pelicans one by one.
Howie was third out and he checked in with his wingman "Hey Joe you ok down there?"
Joes voice crackled over the line "Never better!" Howie smiled this mission was starting out well. Hopefully there weren't stumbling into a dangerous trap.
