It's true.

We're Paladins. We exist in Gaia to help the misguided find direction. Or at least this is what I've come to understand.

If this is true.... Then why are some of us so absolutely rude to others? It's insane.

I just read a post in which one grammatically challenged young Gaian expressed his favor for one game developer over another. He was vigorously flamed, of course. But what shocked me was that he was flamed by three or four Paladins. This angers me. Very much.

Why can't we just do our job? If we do that, we'll get a good reputation, and people will welcome us openly. If we harass every newbie A) No new members will want to stick around Gaia and learn and grow to become positively-contributing posters B) Everyone will hate us.

Please, save the rude-and-crude playground bully act for the schoolyard. Let's be Paladins, people.

I guess that's all I have to say about that.

Hmm. I've always thought the mission of the Paladins has always been to correct that which is factually wrong, like someone posting in the wrong forum, or posting something which violates the forum's rules. On the other hand, if somebody posts an opinion which we particularly disagree with (or perhaps even consider an affront), then we are welcome to defend our point of view as vigorously as we are able. Sure, it's not nice to flame, but what's the alternative in an opinion-based discussion? Tell them that it's better to have one kind of opinion instead of another? That would be even worse than flaming in my eyes 3nodding

Isn't typing wrong factually incorrect? (If I guessed the meaning of 'factually' right. >>; ) But other people shouldn't think that just 'cause one part of the group flames, the whole group does. Even if we were here 'cause we don't flame, there might be a select few of us that do.

I rarely flame. It's hard not to when a n00b flames back.
