I hath stumbled accross a pro-life thread in the Extended Discussion and decided to share my two cents since a bunch of people had decided to go in there and flame - though shine up the insults with their flashy vocabulary and copy and pastes from dictionary.com yada yada yada...I'm sure you've run into these people, well I started talking about I understand why people get abortions when they're raped - not that I agree entirely - but I understand. But that people have sex, and they need to face the consequences.
I was shocked that almost every pro-choicer slaughtered my opinions into me thinking that every abortion is done by some irresponsible, slutty teenager - and that I believe having a child is a punishment.
Apparently they got my 'face the consequences of your actions' spiel mixed up with 'having a baby is a punishment that must be forced upon irresponsible people'... I was offended, and apparently they were too... But I just wanted to know what you guys feel like when you're attacked for your opinions.
I thought I'd share my story.

I know what you mean. Exactly the same happened to me and I was generally abused. i was called arrogant and egostistic.
It's not fair. We don't bash them, why do they bash us?

Its not punishment if we feel like they did somethign worht punishing. I don't see the act of sex with some one you love to be wrong.

You know, if you were referring to some kid who whizzed on an electric fence and burnt his pen0r off and then sued the owner of the fence, and said "people need to take responsibility for their actions," nobody would disagree.

Yep. There are some good Pro-Choicers out there, but the vast majority will do just that: Twist your words and make it sound like you said something completely different from what you actually said. Personally, I would've thought that Pro-Choicers were the ones who thought that having children was a punishment; After all, they are the ones trying to get out of it.

yes, i'm sure we've all been there. choicers tend to do that. they're manipulative like that. look at their stance- the ability to kill ones child, created by consensual means, legally and at will.
this is covered with a faccade of "bodily integrity", "safety", "freedom" and "choice". the issue at hand is completely ignored. they intend to blind the stupid with thoughts of liberty, hiding their true intent behind these words.
basically "who here likes the freedom to eat toast in the morning instead of bagels? well, lifers want to take that away! they hate all choices! vote for killing you children today!" the simple twist of focus pits our stance against all freedoms, when really the debate is about the lives of the unborn.

For a second there, I almost edited your post instead of quoting it. whee But yes! Exactly! Even though, bagels are the obvious choice...

i would agree. along with protecting fetal rights, let's also march for the forced consumption of bagels, with butter of course. as every choicer would tell you, fetal rights and the right to choose your breakfast are on the same level. rolleyes

Interesting, because that's how I invited both Crushed orchid and Coup de Grace to the guild.
You guys were both abused by the choicers, and needed, I felt, a solace from it.

You're so awesome, Mcphee. heart
Grace, hon, it's nothing to worry about. It happens all the time. Look at all the replies you got.
I've been called a an arrogant, anti-woman, sick p***y in the debate thread before. I know how it feels. We all do.
No need to worry about it, dear. We're here to support your ideas. ^____^

No worries, we've all been made out as pure evil towards women.
Which is sorta sad, since they like to put labels on us to skew our image a bit... wait that's skewing with emtions right? They like to envoke emotions against us.... hmm so we aren't the only ones doing that are we?

If you're going to be in abortion topics in ED get used to it, those girls(or women that act like little girls) are evil bitches, and I rarely use those words to describe anyone.(the only other time I can think of is Hilary Clinton and Janet Reno)

There's something terribly ironic about being called anti-woman AND a p***y. Get used to double standards, too! biggrin
