Kumoru settled down on a bench with a dusty book, glancing up at Donat over his reading glasses before opening the book up. The boy was all riled up from playing with Serif, so the only way to get some peace and quiet had been to bring him here to the park. At least the boy played well enough on his own.

The goat was starting to look too old for playing around like he was, but Kumoru figured he could spare the boy some growing up at least for a little while longer.

Donat rolled around on his back in the grass, laughing enthusiastically and pulling up a few strands. If someone to play with turned up, that would be nice, but for now, the itchy grass was fun enough. He rolled over and over and over until he got dizzy, then sat up and swayed in a circle, giggling a little as it felt like the world was still tilting and turning beneath him.

Standing a ways away looked to be a very drippy mud monster, crouched at the edge of the grass. Altessa didn't really want to leave, and her tail twitched as she watched the other from afar, mouth open to breathe, showing her long gleaming teeth.

Would this be another 'victim' of hers? Could she scare or bully him into submission? She'd certainly try!

Donat squirmed to a sitting position and looked around, idly picking at a few blades of grass. He thought he had heard something close-by, but as far as he could see, there was not anyone around. No one besides the other park-goers, at least. And his daddy was sitting on the bench, but he was busy looking at a book.

The goat became distracted after a moment as he noticed several tufts of brownish fur in a little fluffy clump. They looked like they were his color. Donat held out a hand next to the shed fur to compare, then shrugged, leaned down, and blew the downy hairs into the air with a puff of air.

Hm, kind of like a dandelion, only harder to see.

What the heck? Raising an eyebrow, Altessa rose from her position, her curiousity overcoming her. He had compared himself to her, and that... intrigued her, a bit. Tail still lashing, she edged closer until she was nearly on top of him, her eyes staring into his.

Donat picked at the grass and watched some bugs walking past, though his ears remained pricked forward, towards the approaching girl. After a moment, he glanced up- and found himself looking into another pair of eyes which were quite close by.

The goat-boy's face broke out into a wide, friendly grin, and he waved a little. "Hiyas," he said, then added, "You're good at bein' quiet. It was hard to hear you come up here."

The concept of sneak-up-and-scare-someone was evidently lost on Donat.

Her eyes narrowed. She'd done everything possible to try to scare the other, and here he was, acting like nothing was wrong! And of course, she uttered the first words that came out of her mouth, a snarl curling on her lips.

"I hate you."

... No one had ever told Donat that before. Of course, he had heard about people saying things like that, so he know what it meant, but still... he had to admit he was entirely unsure how to respond.

His little furry brows knit as he stuck two fingers into his mouth. After a moment, the goat-boy realized little tears were appearing in the corners of his eyes. It really was mean of her to say that. What had he done wrong?

"Why?" Donat asked after a moment, unsure what else to say. "I didn't do nothing except say hi." His voice wavered a little as he spoke, and not because he was still half-chewing on his finger.

Now a smile graced her face. She smirked, and reached out to touch his nose, pushing slightly. "Made ya cry. Sissy."

"I am not!" the goat protested, taking his fingers out of his mouth to grab two handfuls of grass in frustration. "You're the one who hates me for no reason. I didn't do nothing! You don't need to be mean."

She was. Donat had thought he was pretty nice to her, saying hello and all. He would have even told her that the clover flowers in this patch of grass were particularly tasty. But he did not need to share with people like her.

Who wanted flowers? Honestly, she only glared at him as he stared at her, leaning back to cross her arms over her pudgy belly.

"I don't have to have a reason to hate you."

"You're just a bad person," Donat said, pointing a damp finger at her accusingly. "Go away and bug someone else. Leave me alone!" He was trying to stand his ground, but then suddenly a little sniffle came out of him unbidden, and he realized there was a tear in the corner of his eye. The goat fiercely wiped it away, and tried not to look like he was about to burst into tears.

Sensing some commotion, Kumoru glanced up at Donat over the tops of his reading glasses, frowning a little as he saw another creature there with him. He marked his place in his book with the ribbon and shut it quietly, then slowly stood up.

Altessa snorted, then burst out laughing. She had done it, and now he was crying! All was well in her world.

Well, until a disembodied hand darted out and yanked her up by the scruff of her neck, making her dangle in the air. She didn't like this, and hissed, trying to turn to latch to whoever's hand was attached to her.

"I'm terribly sorry," The voice murmured, and appearing into view was a rather dissheveled man, with shoulderlength blonde hair and brown eyes. "I'd lost track of her, and... well. Going invisible is about the only way one can catch her. Behave, Altessa." The man gave her a stern glare, and she pouted, looking away and crossing her arms.

Donat seemed unruffled by the man's rather sudden appearance, though that may have been at least in part due to his removal of the goat's attacker. He could see his own dad coming over, too.

The goat-boy wiped his eyes and nodded a little at what the strange man said, and then in a moment of supreme maturity, blew a raspberry at Altessa.

"Donat," Kumoru called to him as he approached, his voice carrying a slight tone of admonition. "Even if she was being mean to you, you shouldn't be mean back." He nodded to the other man as he passed, and spared a slight odd glance at Altessa, then gathered Donat up in his arms.

"I suggest he doesn't do that, as that would only anger her more. I fear she already holds grudges," The man explained, depositing her into his large coat pocket rather roughly.

"Excuse me. My name is Tiil'xhin. Tiil for short, if that's too hard to pronounce." He rubbed the back of his neck nervously, but his eyes flickered to the girl. "She's so easy to lose track of... Kanth will have my head for sure."

Altessa glowered from the pocket, glaring straight at Donat.

Kumoru shook his head and ruffled Donat's hair before turning to the side so that the goat would have to twist into quite an uncomfortable position to see Altessa again.

"Quite alright. I'm sorry if my little one tried to start anything," the mage conceded; he had to admit he could not fathom this little tiff being Donat's fault, but then who knew with children his age.

"I had best get this one home, anyway," he continued. "I guess we have been out here a while. Donat, want to just say you're sorry before we go?"

"No," Donat insisted, pushing his bottom lip out in an angry pout even though he was turned around with his back to the mean little girl. "I didn't do nothing."

"... Please, do it for Daddy?" He turned a little so Donat might be able to catch a glimpse of Altessa.

"... Sorry," Donat finally huffed, refusing to look at her.
