Ketamine is the first new thing I've written in almost a year. And it was forced sadly. I joined this guild in hopes that my inspiration and motivation would kick back up.
Before I go on; do any of you think that I could spin a novel, a good one, just off of a three page long writing sample you saw?

*thinks*........If you believe in yourself and if people believe in you! I believe you can do it! Just have hope and writing in your heart, and try your best, never give up on it! If you truly believe then you can succeed!

Of course you could! You've got talent, you've got potential. If one attempt won't be successful, try again and again until you're happy what you've written. 3nodding

Erm...
I believe this belongs more in the writing/book discussions.
I'll be moving it soon. I just want you to see this post before I move it.

Ketamine was the first piece of yours that I have read.. and it floored me. The pure power and raw potentional was just like a brick wall that stopped me in my tracks out of no where. You have an amazing talent. I just read your free form piece, and for trying something new, that too was great. Dont be afraid of trying things.
Go for it. Three pages can be the start of a top seller. Believe me, if you make this into a novel and get it published.. I will be first in line wanting a signed copy. Getting the full story.. all the pain you could go so far.. and wow. I am dying too see what will become of that story line if you choose to turn it into a novel.
and hey.. 3 is my lucky number wink so I think those 3 pages will take you a long way.

Ketamine was a masterpiece and it didn't seem forced at all.
You and me are alike on the whole forced writing topic, it's just doesn't seem good in our eyes when it is forced.

Random House is the devil. They were going to publish a book I was working on. They led me around by the nose four quiet some time before telling em that they never really intended to publish it because it was too violent for the age group I was shooting for.
I think the fact that I was sixteen also had something to do with it. They had me go back and delete most of it, rewrite about two hundred pages; and then told me to forget it.
I went back and deleted every article or story I had ever written. Ketamine was the first thing I've written in a year.

I'm sorry that happened to you.

You should get published. Just don't go to random house next time.

Ya, since Random House is... random...
But in all seriousness, you definately shouldn't give up. I honestly have yet to read your work (the Keta-thingie everyone speaks of) but it sounds like it could go a long way.
If you have a passion and want it to happen, you have no reason to give up. Go for it. Reduce Random House to a... errr... Generic Cottage.
