PET SHOP OF HORRORS
Pet Shop of Horrors is a horror anime and manga by Matsuri Akino. Although the manga contains ten volumes, the anime only contains four episodes. The series is about the eccentric Count D, the proprietor of a mysterious pet shop located in the heart of Chinatown. Count D doesn't just sell pets; he sells "love and dreams" with a three-term contract, the breaching of which renders the pet shop unaccountable for the consequences.
The plot is thickened when a hot-headed young detective, Leon Orcot, connects the pet shop with mysterious deaths in the region. The detective discovers all the of the victims have one thing in common: they are all Count D's customers and some of them had paid the ultimate price: Their lives.
The manga contains a great deal of subtle to not-so-subtle Boy's Love humour. It also contains some shocking moments.
For example, in the last chapter of Volume 7, "Diet", a lady called Irene is a famous super-model who wants to defeat her rival Clarisse in a dieting spree. Count D prescribes a type of illegal medicine, but warns her of the consequences of using it too much. Eventually, Irene becomes a creepy, humanlike creature that has lost all her humanity.
