Shadows concealed her form as she laid upon the branches of her favored tree. All too often, faces come and go, more appreciated when they leave than when they arrive. Still, there's comfort in knowing that others like you are around, if for some strange reason you might need their help later on down the road.
The dark leopardess dozed in and out, the heat of the day making the jungle humid and sticky, not a time most living creatures in her jungle prowled. Daytime was for taking a siesta, snooze a bit, and wait for the sun to go down, and the humidity and heat to go with it.
It was doubtful even the lions and cheetahs that had invaded her lands were doing much prowling at this point, their much heavier forms and coats would be keeping them much warmer than she. However, it was tempting to slide down the tree and head towards her favorite crystal clear pond, where she could lay in a corner, in the cool water, and just enjoy the solitude around her.

Underneath the trees, on the soft floor of the jungle, a leopard was prowling out on his own account. Well, not so much prowling, just bored.
His white coat was a stark oddity, not to mention the stripes that swayed down his back, their odd metallic glare that reflected the stray bits of sun rays that made their way through the trees. His toned body shone with a clean gleam; it was quite evident that he took good care of himself.
He wasn't so much grumbling as growling, bored, and hoping that something would just pop out of the air and keep him entertained for a bit. He was sick of all the stupid little birds, and just wanted to find something to mess with. He didn't care that he was a jerk, it was just how he was. Didn't like it? Take yourself somewhere else.

Well, wishes do come true, to a certain extent, though not quite always how we would like them to.
Tamani had thought long and hard about heading to her cool clear pool, that almost seemed to be invisible to just about everyone else. That, she was thankful of. And with the heat as it was, a cool dip was exactly what she could use right at that moment. Almost his polar opposite, the lithe and graceful leopardess leapt out from her branch and alighted on the ground in front of him, turning her head slowly to glance him over.
"Do you always wander, uninvited, upon other's territory, or is this something new you figure you'd try?" Her tone was honey'd, laced with a bit of maliciousness. Her eyes held a sickening aloofness as she turned on her heel, without waiting for an answer, and headed towards her pool. Something told her this one wouldn't be around long.

Hah, if only this leopardess was right.
Odin was one that didn't take sassyness well, and he was going to harass her until his boredom faded back. For now, she'd interest him well enough to actually do something, in stead of roam.
He didn't bother following at first, just gave her a short retort. "Well, if one would evidently make it known that these were their lands, then one such as I wouldn't invite themselves on another's home lands" he said with a little curl. He never backed down from a fight, especially if it hadc to deal with words. He wasn't always the best at them, but that didn't mean he'd give up easily.

Raising an eyebrow, though he couldn't see it, Tamani snorted softly to herself. Turning her head over her shoulder as she paused, the leopardess smirked at the young male.
"Actually, there's quite a few signs that this jungle is owned. Look around you, pay attention, and you might see them." With that, she turned and headed on her way again, her tail waving invitingly behind her. "Of course, you are welcome to join me for a little while, since you're already here."
She was the coy little minx, though she had no intention of letting this male get fresh with her. Only one was in her mind for that, and their time would come soon enough. However, a good verbal spar was just what she needed to beat the heat. Perhaps this one would be more... of a challenge than the rest. Especially better than that honeyed lioness from so long ago. That one, hadn't been worth the time spent on her. Then too, none of the lions ever were...

Odin gave her a little glare, and retorted with "Well, if you don't make it evident enough, most won't bother to look." He flicked his tail before taking a step forward. What a little witch. This was why he never, ever bothered with females. Always acting like they were better then males.
He decided to follow her, keeping his head up as if he decided that for his own. Though he had never quite been though this part of the jungle, he was sure enough that it wasn't a whole lot different from the parts he was familiar with, and so wasn't cautious as he followed her.
Large leaves draped the path that the other was evidently following, as Odin broke though each and every layer of leaf as a dolphin broke the water. He was a very elegant leopard, and vain as well, so he took pride in how he carried himself. Some could say that he had his head up his a**, but he never cared what others said. He was who he was. You didn't like it? Scram.

Tamani was highly amused by the gall of this male. There wasn't many who could keep up a war of words without either backing down, or ending up cowing down to her very wishes. This one, would be harder to win over than most, but hey, a challenge is a challenge, no matter what the cost, right?
Upon reaching her crystal pond, she hesitated not a second to ease herself into the cool water, ignoring him for the time being until she got herself settled, posing the regal picture most leopards at rest were depicted as. Once she was satisfied with her position, she turned jaded eyes towards the stark white male once more.
"You're obviously not from around these parts, and not familiar with things around here. So where do you come from, perchance?" A short pause before she continued left for a slight air of suspense. "And all you needed to do was open your senses to the signs of the jungle around you, and you would've known right away that this area is taken. As if the fresh kill hanging from the tree near where I encountered you wasn't a good enough sign, the fact that there are scent markers, and visual aids such as claw marks down the trees, that you would've surely noticed. However, since you seemed rather preoccupied, and obviously lost, you're forgiven." She wasn't entirely acting like she was better than males... She was just proving that she was better than him in particular.

Odin gave her a little snort as she just slipped into the pool, a queen making a grand entrance into a ballroom, for all to admire. This female was one who deserved a good smack across the maw. To him, she wasn't worth anything, for being such a stuck up brat as she was.
Of course, he'd never say that. He was just too much of a gentleman to tell a woman when she was being ugly.
"Well well, looks like someone wants to know more about me." He flicked his tail without much thought. "I don't come from anywhere luxurious such as this," he started. "I hail from the lands much more southern then this, where the air is lighter, not so musky, and not quite so...damp." His ears gave a flick. The humidity here was not something he enjoyed, but he dealt with it, if only for living in the jungle.
Finding a very low lying brance, he lept onto it with grace, and gingerly layed himself down, his tail dangling off, the tip flipping this way and that idly.

"Indeed, the dampness makes for some rather sticky days, but all in all, it keeps nasty little things who can't take the heat, away. Such as the lions." Rolling her eyes, the dark leopardess snorted softly at the idea of lions living in the jungle. Nasty critters, more brawn than brains, which usually meant they didn't have enough sense to use their strength properly in such a setting. "They're like mosquitos around here. Give them an inch and they'll take an entire jungle. Breed like rabbits, are useless and kill what they don't need."
She did make a point, at the very least, for as haughty as she made herself appear. Perhaps it could be said that she was more bothered about that than she was claiming the jungle was hers? Only she herself knew.
"And what do you think of this place, other than the distaste for humidity, despite it's usefulness?"

Odin's ears caught her words as they flicked forward, letting her say her piece before giving his own imput.
"Interesting, Princess." He purred, seemingly teasing her with a lower title then what she would take if these lands were truely hers. "Seems like you hold a grudge against these lions. Though I do not blame you for it." His nose twitched a bit before he continued. "They are much more brute strength and scowls. Not lithe and smart like the other species around." Of course he was implying leopards with that statement, though.
"While the humidity irritates my nose and ears, it is very elegant in it's embrace of life." He grinned. "And there is a great amount of different game here to keep interest in one's diet. Very interesting, indeed."

His facetious tone around the name 'princess' wasn't lost on her, however she chose to ignore it. No sense arguing with someone who hadn't been around long enough to comprehend.
"I wouldn't go so far as to call it a grudge. I harbor an extreme dislike for them. Not long ago a pair wandered through here, claiming it was their jungle. I think they even went so far as to claim we should move and find another home. The female was beligerent, her mate or friend, whoever he was, seemed to bet the only smart one, pointing out to her that we were at the advantage, not them, and that they'd probably be better off leaving. Course, he wasn't entirely all that smart, but still, credit where it's due." Standing up, she repositioned herself in which to look up at him, despite her darkened dripping coat.
"We pride ourselves on keeping a decent supply of prey beasts around here. They know we only take what we need and so they don't seem to be too fussy. They're aware of the lion problem too, the only reason there aren't more beasts here is because of those filthy mangy creatures." Flicking her tail, letting the tip of it pat the water just so, her jaded eyes scanned around them, tipping an ear back and forth now and then. She was rather attentive to all that went on around there, and knew a lot more than most. At least that gave her a bit of credibility towards her claim of owning the jungle.

Odin let his pale-white ears absorb everything that the black leopardess was saying, easily calculating it and organizing it in his mind. You never knew when you'd need to know something, and so he made sure to do his best to remember it all. Who knew, he could use perhaps use this information against someone to get what he wanted. Aaah, the possibilies were endless.
"Well well, you certainly seem quite informed, princess." He said caually, watching her. She certainly was a stunning creature, but she was just too smart for Odin to really fancy. And he just didn't think this jungle really suited him. He needed something a little more...open.

"I should hope I appear well informed. I've lived here all my life. I know this jungle like the back of my paw. I've done more than my share to get rid of the overgrown furballs that claim this place as theirs." She raised up her paw in emphasis to her words. "When one claims land as their own, they certainly better make sure they know what's what and keep themselves informed, or they might find themselves claiming something that...is far different from what they describe."
Her ears shifted at the top of her head, listening for any sounds of others that might be near by. "So, will you be staying a while, or are you just passing through my lovely jungle home?"

The white leopard softly laughed to himself. Well well, very full of herself. Though must females he'd come across were, especially of the leopard kind.
He gave a brief yawn, perhaps a little stab that he was bored. "Oh, just passing though. It's a bit too...stifling here for me." He finished his yawn, and drew his tail up next to his side. "So I am certain that it will be a time before we cross paths again, dark princess."

Jaden eyes staring at his own as he spoke. "Be careful as you tread through these lands. Tricksters roam freely, while I allow it, they may not take to strangers. Ghosts of the trees often stop to poke fun at light strangers when they feel the need. They don't mess with locals, but as light in color as you are, while handsome, likely won't bide you a trip free of discourse." Thoughtfully, she pondered whether she should say much of anything. She knew of one, and that, from him, he had a brother similar to himself. Should she explain more, or let this leopard find out for himself?
"Beware in particular, for shadows with light masks and dark eyes. Rings around the tail will be a dead giveaway. He is the trouble-maker of them all." Keeping her words cryptic, she let a smile dance upon her muzzle. If he were to encounter Mkosaji, would be an interesting ordeal, quite possibly something she might have to tag along to watch. But whether this one would heed her warning was another story. It was one thing to be talking civilly to someone, quite another to suddenly launch into a cryptic speech about tricksters and ghosts of the trees roaming around. That was actually a nickname given to the dark leopards by the denziens of the jungle. Moving along the shadows of the tree tops, they were hardly ever seen until it was too late. But, of course, she wouldn't explain that to this one, he didn't seem the type to care about such a story as that...
