The two-toned brown lioness had reached where she left her compantion Amri, but he wasn't there. Frusterated as to where his whereabouts were now, she simply stood where she was, wondering what the heck to do. She didn't want to anger Mafujo, so she knew that she should find him soon, but how the hell was she to do that when she didn't know where he was?

The little genet that she had found had fully fallen asleep on her back, and so she couldn't do anything dramatic, or risk hurting the little genet again. She sighed, frusterate,d not sure where to go, or what to do. She knew these lands, but she didn't know Amri or Mafujo well enough to know where the hell he was.

Her sandy, rose coloured eyes scanned the savannah, hoping to catch a hint as to where Amri went. She was somewhat hoping that she wouldn't catch the attention of another, but you never knew in a place such as the Southlands....

Nyota wasn't the only one looking for a lost companion. Umilele felt terribly out of place in the Southlands, as she was more used to the region near the jungle. Blinking with frustration, the gray-blue maned wolf padded lightly through the vast field, her blue eyes scanning the shadowed horizon.

Where are the Pridelands? she thought with a frown. Kiwi had often talked about going there, and she assumed that he had gone off with Moyo. She wasn't particularily jealous of her friend's new mate, but she wished Kiwi had thought to say goodbye before he left. Now she was trying to seek him out again, but she found it hard to navigate in the darkness.

Something moved ahead of her, and she blinked, squinting. The shape was that of a lioness, but there was also something on her back. The youthful female could not figure out what it was. From what she knew, there were no prides in the Southlands, but she did not want to be caught trespassing on someone's territory. Deciding it was best to just announce her presence, she said softly, "Hello?"

The brown lioness started, not knowing that there was someone nearby. She was never one who had a sixth sense of knowing when others were around, but it still made her nervous nonetheless when she didn't know someone was nearby.

"H-hello?" she said shakely. It certainly wasn't Mafujo, it was more feminine. She blinked, letting the moon's rays seep into her eyes so she could see better. Noticing a form just a bit off to her left, she shifted to face that shadow that was peeking out from the grasses.

"Umm...c-can I help you?"

Lele felt a rush of relief when the lioness did not act hostile. Offering a warm smile, she tilted her head, blinking pleasantly. "Hi," she said, her voice a bit stronger, but still kind nonetheless. "You look just as confused as I feel. Are you from around here?"

She took a few steps forward but stayed a good distance away, knowing how much personal space can mean to someone. Her tail relaxed and her ears twitched into a less tense position.

The lioness was still a bit wary, even though the other was speaking in a kind, clear voice. It wasn't anything against this stranger. It was just...well, she was a stranger, and so she wasn't sure on how she's react against her.

"Oh...well, I'm not really lost I just.." she paused, looking around herself before continuing. "I can't find my companion, who I thought was just sleeping here...."

She fought the urge to sit, and kept her standing position. The genet on her back, Kibeti, might awaken at any moment, and she'd only bother to really move around if he was awake, or if she had to.

"I am from around here though, so..." her voice drifted off. She wanted to offer to help her but...she didn't know if this jackal was lost, or just happened to stumble across Nyota.

Lele tilted her head when the lioness said that she was looking for her companion. "I'm looking for a friend, too," she said. "I'd been traveling with him for a few months, and then suddenly, he wasn't there one morning. I think he left to go see the Pridelands... he was always talking about that, but I thought it was strange that he'd leave without saying goodbye."

"My name is Umilele, though just Lele is fine."

Her blue eyes fell upon the creature on the lioness's back again, and suddenly she realized that it was a genet. A smile slid across her lips. "What's his name?" she asked politely.

Nyota listened politely to the strangers short explanation as to why she was wandering the Southlands alone at night. She sympathised with her, and gave her own input. "Oh, that's too bad. My own companion I'm looking for....probably didn't leave me, he might be searching out for me." She said with a bit of embarassment. Mafujo wouldn't be looking for her out of concern, but more for wanting to know where she was. A little bit controlling, but Nyota didn't mind, at least, not yet.

She gave a little headbob, acknowledging the introduction. "I'm Nyota'ausi, but Nyota is just fine by me." She shrugged her shoulders softly. "Though this little one likes to call me Ny for some reason."

She gave a little sigh as their attention turned to the small genet on her back. "His name's Kibeti...so he says. I just found him actually, wandering around alone. Seems like he got kicked out of home a little too early...."

The leggy wolf nodded as she listened to Nyota speak. "Nice to meet you, Nyota," she said before falling silent to listen to the lioness again. Her bright eyes fell upon Kibeti and she tilted her head, a tuft of her mane falling into her eyes. "That's too bad," she said sympathetically, even though the little one couldn't hear her.

Thinking for a moment, she added, "You said you're from around here...? Maybe you could point me in the directions of the Pridelands? Oh!" she added, a thought coming into her mind. "What's your companion's name? Maybe if I see him, I could tell him that you're looking for him."

The lioness nodded with understanding as the jackal offered her condolances to the sleeping genet. "It seems too sad, but he doesn't seem to mind. I guess that he doesn't quite understand just what's happened to him but..." she sighed "I hope to take care of him 'til he's ready to be on his own. If my companion will allow it, anyway."

She gave a little shiver thinking about it. What if Mafujo asked for some kind of 'favor' for keeping this 'pet' of hers? She hopes that it didn't come down to that.

"Oh, his name is...Amri'Mafujo." She blended their two names together. it might be easier, if she did come across him. "He ah...is a leopard. Mostly grey. I hope to find him by the time dawn comes, but that's kind of you..."

She glanced around at their surroundings, wondering if she could gain a direction for where the Pridelands laid. "Umm...I think that they are this way, but I'm not sure. Do you want me to walk with you for a bit, just so I can make sure I guide you into the right direction?"

The maned wolf smiled and nodded appreciatively. "That'd be nice... thanks." With that, she began to slowly pad in the direction that Nyota had indicated, giving the lioness ample time to fall into pace beside her. As they walked, her large ears perked. "Have you ever been to the jungle, Nyota?"

Her bushy tail swayed behind her and her eyes seemed to light up at the mention. It was very apparent, even in those few words, that to this maned wolf, the jungle meant home.

Nyota's ears perked up again at the mention of this jungle. It had been mentioned to her so much before, it must be a wonderful place. She had always thought of the Southlands as home, but she might just have to go visit this jungle.

"No, I haven't" she said, her footsteps slowly falling in pattern with the maned wolf's. "I have heard it mentioned a time or two before, though. Do....do you think you could describe it to me, though?" She showered interest just by the way her body perked up at the mention of this jungle.

A peaceful expression came over Lele's face. "Well, I can't describe what the inside of the jungle looks like, because I live right on the outskirts... but it's beautiful there. Lots of lush plants, and the view of the night sky... it's to die for." She smiled brightly, looking at Nyota. "You should go visit sometime. Where I live, it's fairly quiet... not very many other creatures come around. I guess it can get a little lonely sometimes, but that's why it was nice that I made friends with the lion I'm searching for. He was all the company I needed, really."

Nyota was enjoying the part where there was a part less traveled by others. She defiantely wanted to visit that part...but if Mafujo wanted to go there, he might take her to more populated places. Ugh.

Nyota was used to the openness of the Southlands though, and hearing from others that there were lots of trees there slightly unsettled her. It was just something different then what she was used to, but she might feel a little confined in a place like that for long.

"Oh, so you're looking for a lion?" She questioned softly. Male, might be big...she was somewhat hoping that she wouldn't run into this lion. She just didn't much like meeting other lions, especially if they were male...and bigger then her.

"It is...nice to have a friend though. I do hope he explains to you why he left though.." It was never good to just abandon what you had, and Nyota didn't like that against this lion. But if Lele was looking for him, then he must be good at heart....she didn't seem the kind to just look for someone for no real reason.

Lele nodded enthusiastically. "Mhmm. Kiwi is a lion... a rather large lion at that. But he's a big softy, really. He's never hurt anyone in his life. I'm sure he had a good reason for leaving... he's not the type to just abandon me there. I know that he had fallen in love just before he left, with a lioness named Moyo, so I'm guessing that he's probably with her, wherever he is." She did not seem annoyed by the fact that Kiwi had "left her" for a lioness, but rather seemed happy that her friend had found love.

"I'd like to meet her, I think," she said, thinking out loud. "She must have a good heart, because he wouldn't fall for anyone else."

"Love, eh?" Nyota never really believed in the notion of love, but hey, if someone else found it, good for them. "Well, if that's true, then I guess you should be happy for him. But he still should of let you know what he was up before he left you, right?"

Nyota noticed that she had found a landmark that she was familiar with, that proved they were going in the right direction. She didn't want to point it out yet, as they were activly talking. She waould being it up soon enough.

"But dont' you think he should of told you?" She repeated. Nyota herself would of been very hurt if someone close to her had just left without a word.
