To put things bluntly, the charcoal queen of the Kusini lands was getting older. What normally took her a few days venture from her old Southlands home from Kusini, was longer. This time however, Ari ventured out on her own. She needed to head to the pridelands, just north of the southlands, to speak with her son about his daughter residing in the Kusini lands. Not that it bothered Ari one bit, but she had thought that her son should know the whereabouts of his children.

So the female moved, finally reaching the borders of the pridelands by nightfall on the 10th night. Tired, she trodded on, only to stop near a waterhole by the great Pride Rock. "Denahi..." The female murmured, sighing softly as she plopped onto the ground. Her eldest son, and possible the most violent one, still held a spot in her old heart when others said it was a lost cause. But he was her child, and she still loved him!

Ezeoha was suffering through some major family issues. It couldn't be stressed enough that he had a rocky relationship between his siblings, a partially-affectionate relationship with his mother, and no relationship at all with his father. For a few moments he thought that it was not supposed to be like this. Perhaps, when he was born, he was supposed to turn out different. But, seeing as he had turned out the way he had, things weren't going well with his own family. Maybe he should just leave like Baradi. He could become a rogue and make his own living... but that meant leaving Mosi, along with his other friends (though few they were). He wasn't sure he could part with them just yet.

With a sigh he trotted along all by his lonesome (this was usually how he was, alone, when not flirting or visiting his esteemed few friends). Ezeoha was not built for loneliness. He loved the social life, and enjoyed gossiping and telling jokes. There was not one, bluntly flirtatious, side to him. He had other aspects that barely beamed.

He stopped by a small watering hole to see if he could find any frogs to paw at, but instead he found an older lioness (way older by his consideration). He wouldn't even consider flirting with her. She may've been pretty back in the day, but he did not doubt she was as old as his grandmother, Sarabi. Perhaps she was in better condition than his grandmother, but she was still old, and Ezeoha hated thinking about getting really old.

"Hello," he said, padding up to the charcoal lioness, and for a few moments he didn't doubt that she was dead. But, her eyes were open and she was living, and so Ezeoha had to be polite. He was a prince of these lands, and he would not be rude to strangers just because they were old and tired.

At the sound of padding from steps away, Sky blue eyes reached the crimson red ones. "Good evening, young one." She said softly, the tone of a mother ever-so lingering in her voice. As he neared, she rose into a sitting position, her tail curling around one of her hind legs. "You are out pretty late, are you not?"

The Kusini queen smiled. She didn't realize this was one of her grandsons. But she would, if she happened to mention her son in the next moment.

Which in anycase, the female did. "You wouldn't have happened to see a tall...burly lion about my pelt color around here...have you?" Ari asked. She watched the movement of the younger boy.

Yes, Ezeoha decided, she would've looked pretty when she was younger. The young cub could see no resemblance between him and the old lioness. All he say was old age, and he was weary of it. But, the lioness was nice enough and he would have a cheery conversation with her. It almost felt better to not flirt than it did to flirt. He could relax his calculating mind and enjoy the conversation. "Yeah, I guess I am out late, but my mother doesn't bother to call me in early, and I like to avoid my sibling." The one that was left, that is.

When Ari posed her question, there was a drastic change in the young lion. He stared at her for a few moments, and then his red eyes hardened, his shoulders tightened, his teeth gritted together. It was a look of disgust, extreme hatred. "I have not managed to see such a lion that belongs here." He said bitterly, and if his words had true power, they would slice a tree in half with such a tone. He had a good idea about who she was requesting, and by gods he was not going to let her get near such a monster.

"My advice is to go back home, or if you want, you can stay here. My grandmother will like you." His words were kinder, but still held the harshness of his earlier words.

That was strange... Ari could've sworn Denahi was here! After all, Bari had come from here with her pridelander male friend, hadn't she. He hadn't been caught by the firekin again, had he?

Ari's eyes caught a glint of worry in the light blue. "I see..." She said quietly, the hints of sadness spilling into her words. She looked towards Ezeoha, nodding towards his advice. "Unfortantly, I can do neither until I find this lion.

"You see, his daughter resides in my lands." When she said my, Ez could probably get the hint of the Kusini pridelands. "And I cannot stay here...for I have to help my mate with our pride." And her last statement would confirm it.

Why would such a gentle old lioness want to find such a barbaric lion that Ezeoha had the misfortune to be related to? The best help Ezeoha could do for her was to lead her in the opposite direction, turn her away from her determined quest. "This lion cannot be so important. You need your rest, and the Pridelands will offer that and then I can help you get back to your home."

With her next words, though, Ezeoha decided that he'd try to find another escort for her. "Ah, so that's where the little brat went," Ezeoha said, allowing a small smirk to come onto his face. He let the smirk fall away after a few moments, and looked more tenderly upon the older lioness. "I could find this lion for you and pass on your message. You can go back to your..."

Waaaiiiittt?

This lioness was a queen of a pride? Ezeoha's mind was quickly taking in this information and drawing up with the conclusion that he was speaking to a queen of another pridelands. But why would a queen leave to seek out some dastardly lion? "...lands and dictate them as you will," he continued on effortlessly.

"Pardon?" She asked, when he mentioned something about the 'little brat'. "So you know Baridi then, I take it?" The female asked. What other brat resided in the Kusini lands but someone related to Denahi offspring wise?

"And...that lion is important to me...You see..." Ari gazed at Ezeoha. "He's my son." She said grimly. It seemed Denahi had not made a good impression here if this one spoke poorly of him. "But...if you do happen to see him, please give him the message his mother is looking fo rhim?" At this, Ari moved up, walking slightly pass Ezeoha.

By then, she had realized who the golden cub was, and with a small smile she continued to walk. So this was her youngest grandchild.

"I know the little wench," he said sourly. Oh, he remembered her well, trying to keep Mosi away from him and being an over all- Well, he should stop thinking about her and his father. They were bringing a sour mood down upon him and he was chasing away such a kind and gentle older lioness.

"What?" Ezeoha look traumatized for a second. Denahi was his father... and Ari was his mother and a queen of another land. Ezeoha had /two/ royal bloodlines in him? This was his grandmother! Dear gods, he was thinking about how pretty she had been when she was younger! He felt dirty now, tainted, and guilty about being so sour around her. "I will if I see him," he told Ari, though he doubted he would see Denahi anytime soon.

His grandmother stood up and began to walk away, and Ezeoha was left with a few moments to decide what to do. He just couldn't let his relative walk away without knowing him. He couldn't let his grandmother meet her son... She had to return to her lands and rest. If she, by chance, happened to run into Denahi she needed someone to protect her. She needed Ezeoha. "I'll help you search!" He exclaimed hastily, running forward to catch up with her and walk by her side.

"No need for such language." The female said scornfully, in a quiet tone. What a little mouth Denahi taught his children with!

"What...what?" Ari blinked, looking back to her grandson. The female nodded shortly afterwards. "Thank you," She said quietly, still remaining silent about who she really was to the golden pridelander.

When he began to follow, the female smiled. "Aww such a gentleman." The queen said to the prince, purring slightly. "So do you like living here?" The female asked. "My son must've found something about it," at this, she looked around. "But I never did found out what was in the land." She told the male with a small grin. "My lands are secluded. You can only find your way if you know how to get there. Lost in the southlands." The way Ari put it sounded like her lands were a mystery waiting to be solved. She loved the Kusini lands. They were her home, afterall.

"She deserves such language from me," Ezeoha replied, immediately coming to his own rescue. He would gladly put himself in the highlight and kick her sister into the darkness. The young lion simply did not like her, so why should he care that he called her nasty names? Right, he shouldn't.

"Nothin'," he replied hastily, pretending that he had never had such an exclamation that prompted her to question him. "You are welcome, I'm always glad to help someone out." As long as that someone wasn't a better looking male, or annoying, or... He should stop right about there.

He positively beamed under his grandmother's praise, and he decided that out of his family, he liked her the most. He liked his mother, sure enough, but her role of a mother intruded on his life and left a little spark of discontent. This was his grandmother, someone he had never before met, and was pleased to talk to now. She was so sweet and nice, and if Baridi wasn't in Ari's homeland, Ezeoha probably would've followed her all the way back home. "It's okay. The lands real nice and most of the lions are really nice to, oh, and they've got pretty girls." He gave her a very cheesy smile. "So then you don't get many rogues if it's so secluded? How's the hunting, are the lions nice, and are there any girls my age I can visit?"

Ari shook her head at her youngest grandson. "Is that so?" She recalled, tail flicking as she walked.

"Nope. Not many rogues unless it happens to be lions that some of the members pick up while roaming the southlands." Ari said to Ezeoha. "As for the hunt, it's always plenty. And of course, there are a lot of different species, so it's not hte same hting every day."

At the mention of females, Ari chuckled. "There are some females, but they are older than you." She laughed. "But you have cousins there your age."
PostPosted: Sat Sep 02, 2006 10:14 am

"That is very much so," he said with a definite nod of his head. Ari would probably get the picture that Ezeoha's relationship with his family was on a very thin line. It was very liable to break at any given moment, all it would need was a snip from one direction and Ezeoha would learn to hate his whole family.

"I don't think I'd like the lack of rogues. Sometimes there are really pretty lioness rogues, and sometimes the male rogues are nice too..." He was trying to push himself as far away from his family as possible. "We have lots of prey here, too, so we don't every exactly the same thing every day. But I bet you have more variety. Maybe I can drop by sometime and hunt with you?" His red eyes turned up to look at her, pleading, willing her to cave in and say 'yes'.

He frowned, wondering if he should voice his opinion... Oh well. "I don't mind older women, besides, it's not like I can get hitched with my cousin or anything. Wait, how many cousins do I have?" He really was a cub, it was just 'ramble ramble ramble ramble' with Ezeoha.

Ari chuckled. "Aye, we need to open the pride up to others more. Or else it'll be overruned with family members!" The female grinned, pausing at his next question. "When you are older you can come hunt with me." The old female said. "I can show you my lands, like you have now with yours." The grandmother smiled softly, leaning her head down to nuzzle her youngest grandson.

"Well...You have a cousin. But you also have an uncle and aunt about your father's age, as well as four more uncles and aunts a little older than yourself." She didn't know Syeira was currently pregnant with six NEW cousins.

"It has to be scary, having a pride overrun by family." He shuddered at the thought. He got along with his grandma just fine, but he was sure that he'd not be able to get along with every single one of his relatives. He had trouble enough with the lions in his immediate family. "I think I would like that, hunting with you when I'm older." He did not voice his disappointment, though. Leaving to go visit the Kusini lands would be the perfect excuse for leaving the Pridelands permanently. He'd tour his grandmother's lands and then pretend to head back to the Pridelands. He could say that he got lost... As long as he didn't have to stay here that much longer.

"That's a lot... Adding my side of the family," Ezeoha said, frowning at the thought of so many family members. Right, he was sure that he didn't wish to go there.

"Not really." Ari purred. "Seeing as they are my children and grandchildren." She purred again. The charcoal queen smiled. "Perhaps you can show me what you know? And perhaps I'll be able to teach you some things." Light blues shifted onto the golden form.

"Mhmm." The queen nodded. "You mother and father both have brothers and sister whom have paired up with one of you family, or vice versa with mine." She stated, a oh so familiar scent entering the area. "Oh look, it seems your father has graced us with his presence. Denahi!"

At the words, Denahi sneered. He was coming up on the two forms. "Mother." He growled, eyeing Ezeoha. He had come to dislike the male child. "What are you doing here?"
