Dear fellow Eragon fan (or antifan), I'll come back and write this indroduction post later...however until then this is basically for you people to post what you liked or didn't like in either of the books, Eragon or Eldest. heart On second thought, I really don't have much time to rewrite. I procrastinate alot sweatdrop and I'm too lazy to think up of a proper introduction (not to mention I don't have the books on hand). There is a question at the bottom of this page, go answer it please. Yours sincerely, Rudhheniel

Sure they have great story lines, but lets face it they were poorly written. He kept switching writings styles every other paragraph, and I found his sentence structures odd. It really pained me to read the books, the only thing that kept me reading them was the story line. (even though they are just a mixure of other books and movies put together.) In any case I think it will make a fantastic movie if done right. Maybe Christopher Paolini should take up screen writing, I think he would do much better at that.

Yeah apparentlyt the author was a 17 year old guy ...is that right? The second book was pretty good....at least that means he's improving right? I mean its good that the books are getter better instead of worse...unlike some of the other series I've read. (*cough cough* Harry Potter *Cough*). Anyway its not neccessiraly a bad thing that he uses a combination of different ideas, those people who read other books may find it interesting to find parallels, and those that don't will look at it and think the ideas are fascinating...after all creativity is knowing how to hide your sources....

I suppose he is getting better, but one thing he has got to change is that he is to predictable. I pretty much figured out the whole story, and events in the first couple of chapters.

moghedien_42 I suppose he is getting better, but one thing he has got to change is that he is to predictable. I pretty much figured out the whole story, and events in the first couple of chapters. So you are saying that you knew that Brom was going to be killed and that he would rescue Arya, then take her to the Varden? And later kill the Shade he met when rescuing Arya, and in the next book go to Èllesmera to be trained by the elves and get his apperance changed During the Ägaetih Blödhrën? And that Murtagh and the Twins would suddenly appear during the big war?

The first book i didnt like the beginning becaues it was boring. It took me 3 months just to read the first 4 chapters because i kept on getting bored with it but once he started traveling with Brom I finished the book in 1 month after that because i couldnt get enough. The second one was..not as good as it could have been but still fun reading.
Alright this isnt the best place i guess to be doing this but since were talking about predictability
for the 3rd book i predict this
Eragon will get his own sword and it will be blue (thats super obvious)
Eragon will kill Murtagh and Thorn. Also Saphira might die. He will go the stone and he will bring back the 2 or 3, maybe even Brom, back to life.
The Varden will take over the government
Eragon falls in love with...the leader of the Varden (i forget her name)
Saphira and Thorn will repopulate the dragon species
Roran will marry Katrina
And what I hope to happen
Saphira transfers books after hte third book into the final book of Harry Potter and Harry Potter will kill Voldemort and then they will be super happy and then all of the sudden Saphira will swoop down and eat Harry's head.
What I think would be funny:
Katrina is the third dragon rider.
We figure out that Orik is a hermophiliodite (did i spell that right?)

Well not much has to be said for them. Arya is mainly a main support character. She isnt going too far. I cant predict much about hte draogn rider and the dragon. I am guessing though that it will hatch for the Empire but at this point Saphira will be so old taht the third dragon will not be much of a problem and they might die. Maybe.

Well both really, because you cant truly understand the second book if you never read, or never really cared for the first one. Yes more action in the second and intresting stuff (except the mushy mushyt stuff is worse) but the first one is really in depth about everything.

What do you think about the portrayal of elves in Eragon? Originally when you were very young and naive, I'm sure most people would think of elves as those cute little people who help santa. Growing up from that you would then either think of the grubby house or garden elves that exist in Harry Potter, or of course the fair elegant race from Lord of the Rings. Naturally elves are considered magical creatures, however in Eragon the author really seemed to emphasised this and not only did the elves have superior senses and abilities, but they had a range of magical powers as well.

Well in eragon they are really a more elegant version of ogier. (A race from the wheel of time) and they sit in trees. I don't know, I was really disapointed with how they turned out. sad (Of course I was really disapointed about how the whole book turned out.)
