The rain had been falling since breakfast but that did not stop Raisa from remembering the promise of the night before.
"But you saaaaid!" the small high pitched voice whined at Pika.
She looked down at her charge with a frown. "Groceries first, baby, then if there's any money left we can visit the candy shop."
Raisa frowned and scuffed the floor with her boots. 'She promised! We have to go or else!' Raisa thought to herself stubbornly. It didn't matter if Pika had already bought her favorite cereal. Raisa wanted something new. Something crunchy. Something...'where did mama go?' she thought with alarm. Panicking fluttery butterflies were trying to escape her tummy. "Ma-" she yelled and stopped short as she caught sight of Pika's legs in a checkout line. Dashing between people and under their bags she reached out with all four hands and grabbed onto Pika's pants. "Mama!" Raisa said with a huff.
"Oh there you are. I was wondering why you were standing there!" she said with a smile. 'So she saw me the whole time. No fair I want to be taller!'
Pika moved all the grocery items toward the cashier and brought out her wallet as they were scanned and put in bags. "Your total is 30,000 gold" the cashier said.
Pika's eyes widdened a bit as she shook out the last of her bills. Taking the change she picked up all the bags and headed for the exit.
"Mama can we go now?" Raisa started on again.
"Only for one candy, Raisa," she said sternly looking her in the eye to make sure she was listening.
"Yay!" she jumped up smiling. As they stepped into the rain she opened her little umbrella, spotted like a ladybug. The Sweets Shoppe was just up the street two blocks...

After alot of nagging.. bugging.. whining.. Nev had finally given in to her child's request. He had supposedly 'not eaten candy for weeks' so it was up to HER to buy him some. Alot of it.
Frowning as she took Roule's hand, who was stubbornly attempting to remove it, muttering about 'being a big kid'. She gripped his hand tighter, attempting to remove herself from her battered car without slipping on the pavement. She stopped outside the large candy store -- it was the only one she knew, simply because it was nearest -- decorated with a fluorescent sign and a few images of lollipops and the likes stuck on a large window. Quirking a brow at the last time she came here (the weasel had RAIDED the shop), the girl stepped in cautiously, the thin bell sound alerting the clerk that a customer was in.
The clerk straightened up considering. It was a young man, just under 18, Nev reckoned and smiled easily. "Heyyy.. Welcome to Horatio's Candy Stop.. We have a 10% discount on caramels today." Nev blinked, and Roule grabbed a brown bag that was availabe on the counter, and ran off into the rows, grinning.

Coming to the door of the shoppe, Pika Paused and made sure Raisa closed her umbrella again. "Thank you Raisa," she said as the young bug fastened the snap shut and walked through the open door.
"Thank you mama," Raisa mimed as Pika shut the door behind them. As the sweet smell of sugar and flavourings hit her nose she began to smile really large. There was candy everywhere! In cases, on shelves, on hooks, racks and counter tops. Every different colour, size and shape. The stripy long peppermint sticks next to the stretchy long taffy bits. Fluffy blue cotton candy and caramel covered popcorn. Ahead of her she noticed another kid - with a tail and a bag.
"Mama I am going to look," Raisa said looking up at her.
"Remember, no touching unless that's the one you want Raisa! Otherwise you're stuck with it. Go on," Pika expressly stated. She knew Raisa had a good head on her shoulders but she was still quite young and with four hands that's alot of touching...hopefully not breaking. Pika watched her as she went over to the older kid.
Spying his mother she slowly walked her way over to where was, eyeing every candy on the way. Raisa wasn't the only one with a sweet tooth! "Hello, are you shopping for two today as well?" Pika asked her as she watched the two children.

Nev turned to the woman's voice, slightly surprised that another parent was in here. She smiled and grinned a little, straightening and offering a hand. "Yup, my kidling's here too.. I'm Nev. I suppose the cute girl is yours?" She had been rather intrigued by the purple-hued child that had ran in after Roule, but dismissed it when Pika had come along.
Roule swung around, about to collect another few Caramels, but almost crashed into a smaller girl. He cocked a brow, only to see a flurry of red and purple. Flushing anxiously, he stepped back, blonde hairs falling out of place on his head. Giving a frown, the weasel inspected the girl curiously. She was weird looking! Though, he had met alot of weird looking people before, so it wasn't too shocking. She was mighty colourful though.
"Um.." He began, clutching the loaded bag in his hand. "Hi?" Roule began, attempting to give a smile, but ended in a sort of stoic expression from his normal frown.

Raisa looked up at the boy, "uh, hi. What aminal are you?" She figeted as she looked from him to the candy bag. "I'm a ladybug!" she said proudly. "What candy do you like?"
Pika smiled and held out her hand. "Hi Nev, I'm Pika and that's Raisa there," she said gesturing with the other hand. It looked like Raisa hadn't chosen a candy yet but with the selection Pika might have to help her narrow it down. "Is your child a ferret by any chance? He has that kind of colouring."

"Ne?" Responded Roule stupidly, looking her over. Lady bug? She definitely didn't look it. No spots, the weasel decided but nodded in agreement anyways, so not to offend. "I-I'm a weasel," he stuttered a reply, in realization that he was supposed to reply back. Peering down at his bag to hold it open, the paler boy listed off a few of the visible items in his bag, which was about a quarter way full. Roule had simply ripped whatever he saw attracted his attention off the shelves. "Gummy.. eh.. worms, bears, fudge, pixie sticks..." Honestly too many, but it didn't really matter.
Nev nodded, smiling, "Nice to meetcha, Pika!" She replied, shaking Pika's offered hand. "Yeah, close enough. Weasel, but I think he has some ferrety genes in him though." The girl craned her neck to get a look at the purple-hued girl in one of the allies. "Awww," Nev cooed, "so cute! She's .. uh, I can't really guess. An insect of some sort?"

"Wow you like alot of candy! I really want to do trick-o-treating. My mama says all the grownups give you candy for free. Today I only get to pick ONE." Raisa pouted a little at this. "I don't know which one," she said looking over the shelves beside them. "I am not even tall enough to see over the counter top!"
"Aww weasels are really cute too! I've always wanted a pet ferret cause they remind me of cats a little," Pika giggled as she realized how many animals she already had at home. "Yeah Raisa's the larva form of a lady bug right now. I think D-Corp said she'd go through the metamorphasis as she grows. I am having a hard time picturing her in a cocoon-case though. She's got way to much energy." Pika beamed at the 'cute' comment. She had spent sometime online looking for the cutest outfits to order for Raisa. They grow up so fast that she now needed to do this once a month! 'No wonder I'm broke' she thought to herself.

”Trick-o..treating?” Questioned Roule quizzically, sideglancing his mother with a sharp glare. Probably something she “forgot” to mention in the long list of things to do in life. Especially this, which sounded incredibly exciting, free candy! Honestly, what else could be better?
“One candy?” Asked the weasel, snickering silently. Usually when they went to the store, Roule stocked up. But then again, Ma most of the time took half of the things out of his bag, and they only came back like two times a year. It wasn’t like Ma couldn’t afford it (well, maybe she couldn’t, who knows? Roule had no clue what the heck her job was supposed to be.) but the paler boy was convinced, that Nev simply did not want to fund his candy obsession. Which made him rather frowny, to say the least.
“Yeaah, he’s a bugger,” replied Nev, grinning a bit. “Wow, metamorphosis? That’s gonna be a ton of fun, I bet.” The girl’s grin grew wider, her anxious smile becoming a larger tease. “Sometimes I wish Roule would just cocoon himself so I don’t have to put up with him.. He’s usually silent, but man, when he gets rowdy..” Nev bit her lip, but smiled a bit after a second.
“I don’t really keep pets at home now,” the girl said with resentment, “ever since this weasel moved in, my cat has been relocated to a place when Roule won’t threaten her if she comes too near to his room.” She sighed exasperatedly, remembering the fiasco of scratched-up couches and broken shelves when Roule had asserted his territorial rights.

"Yeah trick-o-treating! You get to dress up in costume! You can be anything! I don't know what I want to be though. Mama says she wants to be a pirate," Raisa said energetically. "You will come get candy with me right? I like you," she gave him a big smile.
Looking over the candy she started to examine all the red ones. Cherry, strawberry, raspberry, eww cinnamon. Hard ones, soft ones, gummy ones, sticky ones...that one looks good. "What's this one?" Raisa said, pointing with one of her four hands.

"Heh - is he a little tornado around the house then? I'm glad Raisa likes it outside, though tracking in dirt is an ongoing problem. She has her own little garden she plays with out back. She's good with plants surprisingly. I didn't think kids could have patience for gardening!" Pika smiled thoughtfully at this. She was a very active child but somehow that didn't ruin the garden. Perhaps it was all the digging in the dirt that made it work.
"I haven't really tried pets with her yet. Most of the ones I have can take care of themselves to some extent. I have a few other kids though and Raisa seems to be fine with them. The two I am thinking of are merkids. I have a whole pool landscaped area for them in my summer garden. They do come inside to hang out and watch tv though! Otherwise they'd probably drive each other crazy. Ginger and Opal are twins you see," Pika trailed off as she noticed Nev's expression.

"Dress up?" Said Roule skeptically, knowing that only girls dressed up. He knew first hand, when an annoying cousin had come over, insisting on playing dress up to be princesses with Nev's and his clothes. Not the best experience, let me tell you. He fancied the idea of being able to interchange clothing to look good.. but that wasn't 'dress-up'. 'Cause that was a girl's game. "Pirate?" The weasel asked, looking up at Pika. "She doesn't look like a pirate." He concluded, nodding his head, hoping the girl would get it. Pirates were big and scary and burly and could chop your head off. Raisa's Ma didn't really look like she could do that at all.
Glancing at the sweet, he looked at it, frowned and puzzled. What the heck? Wait no, he had seen one of these. At some sort of party thing. They were apples covered with candy with a stick, and that was all he knew. Not particularly liking fruit that much, (they had to be specific anyways), he hadn't tried one. It didn't look particularly inviting or delicious anyways. Roule grimaced and shrugged apathetically, giving Raisa a bored look. "Donno." The boy muttered, not willing to admit he didn't know what the name of it was, just because he wouldn't admit to a girl that he didn't know things.
Nev shook her head, amused by the idea. "Nah, he's kinda lazy. He's growing up too fast or something, 'cause fashion is usually not the main premise of a 7-year old kid." The girl raised a brow and chuckled, "At least Raisa's good at something active. I mean, if you want to go out shopping, you can bring along Roule and he can help you pick out stuff.. But besides that, he likes lounging around the house and eating stuff."
"Ooooh," said the girl with a sour face, "my kidling hates dirt. Honestly, he cleans up after himself when there is no dirt on him. If he gets some sort of OCD in the future, it'll be trouble for me." She grinned at the idea. Roule was pretty messy but hated having dirt on himself. The girl nodded, rather impressed, "Wow, nice! Merkids. Sounds a tad too much trouble for me though, I have my hands full with just the weasel."
