Irvine felt bad about leaving Kronk behind, but there wasn't anything else he could do for him. He was a child now and couldn't talk to Kronk, who was still a spinach puff.
Irvine wandered around, not really sure where he should go. He was a child and could do whatever he wanted, right?

"Halt! Who goes there?" a petite blonde waved a long rapier in front of the boy as he walked by.
Celes was in a bit of a better mood today than she had been lately. It probably had something to do with the craziness that was the Soul Arenas. She was enjoying the chance to practice her swordsmanship.

Irvine stopped and smiled at the pretty girl. First wandering and he already ran into a girl! What luck.
"Well, howdy! I'm Irvine Kinneas, what's a lovely girl like you doing waving that around?" Irvine smiled at her as he asked.

Celes sniffed indignantly, "I happen to be a -soldier-," she insisted, "I always have my sword with me."
Though, she had to admit that it had gotten bigger and shinier with the transfer to this new area from the regular Traverse Town.

"A soldier huh? What is this soldier's name?" Irvine smiled and put his hands in his pockets. He hadn't been around long, but he was sure he wasn't a soldier.

Celes narrowed her eyes for a second, examining him...but, he seemed allright enough.
"I'm Celes Chere," she said, sheathing her sword and putting a hand out for him to shake, "And you?"

Irvine smiled and took her hand into his. "Forget already?" He had told her his name. "It's Irvine Kinneas. It's a pleasure to meet you Celes." He slowly shook her hand and then let it go.

Celes' pale cheeks turned a bit red. She hadn't really been paying that much attention, "Oh. Right, I was just testing you."
She let her hand fall back on the hilt of her sword, then looked around, "So...have you had any fights yet?"

"You're cute when you're embarressed." Irvine said with a chuckle.
"Fights, why no Ma'am. I haven't done one of those yet." He had only grown a short time ago, but wasn't really sure he should tell her that.

His words left her a bit flustered-- Celes was yet too young to have developed the icy calm exterior her counterpart had in the games.
"Er..." she gathered herself quickly enough, however, "Oh, well, you should try it. It's a lot of fun....fighting, that is."

Irvine smiled at her reaction. He was young, but he was still a charmer! "You reckon? I don't really know how to fight...care ta show meh?"

Celes eyed him a moment. He probably wasn't terribly serious about learning...but, perhaps she would teach him anyhow. Afterall, learning to defend himself might help him out a lot in the long run, right?
"Well....I suppose I could try," she nodded in agreement, "but it's hard work if you want to be good at it!"

Irvine nodded, "Hard work sounds good, as long as it's with you." He winked and the rubbed his hand together. This should at least be fun!

Celes didn't know what to think of that statement, so she decided to ignore it and unsheathed her sword, "Okay, first, you have to hold it like this..." she demonstrated proper sword-holding techniques, then held it out for Irvine, "You try."

"Ok..." Irvine took the sword and held it. For some reason he wasn't sure he liked it. He liked guns better...
"How am I doing?" He wasn't quite sure he was even doing it right. He did figure she knew more than him.
