Just wondering for the people of Illinois here if any of you have heard of IMEA. And if you're going to try out.
I'm a senior in high school for this upcomming school year and this will be my sixth year trying out. I've tried out since 7th grade and I've made it three out of six years. I made it last year and I even went to All-State. By the way...*sweatdrop* I play clarinet. Lol.
Few Questions: arrow What instrument do you play? arrow What do you think of the atudes. I soo spelled that wrong. That's the first time I've spelled that word. arrow The IMEA scales, high school and junior high. arrow How is the music comming for you? arrow Any hints for people trying out? arrow What IMEA district are you in, if you know? (I'm not sure what one I'm in even. sweatdrop )

Oh, I wish I was that good. gonk
Baritone/Euphonium is my main instrument now, but I've only been playing for a year, so....yeah.
Maybe I should just get better at flute or something. :XP:

HUZZAH! ANOTHER IMEA-ER! ...I was wondering if anyone else on here did it, too...guess i found my answer! xD
I play bass clarinet and the etudes are terribly easy, I think. Some parts are a bit sketchy, what with the wild fingerings and such, but it's not bad/impossible. I haven't auditoned since 8th grade (where I was told that I scored highest in my section sweatdrop ) and I am now a senior- I figure, it's my last year, why not? I know I can get to at least districts, possibly state.
And I'm in District 8, it's northern illinois- DeKalb, Sycamore, Rock Falls, Sterling, Rochelle, Belvidere... it's a big chunk of northwestern IL. (hah! I found a map here, maybe you can see which one you're in??)

District 6.
We held the auditions at my elementary school. =)
I was a "guide" for anyone unfimilair with the school. I didn't audition though, I did in 8th grade (last year) And didn't make it =(
My reed chipped the Saturday before, NO MUSIC STORES IN MY AREA ARE OPEN ON FREAKING SUNDAY!
I'm considering auditioning again sophmore year, anyone have any ideas to help me with the scales/etude? Espically the lines with the insane ammounts of sharps/flats.
(I play clarinet btw)

Woo, IMEA! I live in Rock Island (no idea what district that is), and have been playing flute for 6 years. I tried out the last two years, and made it in last year. It was SO fun! My etudes are coming along, but I keep screwing up the 16th note runs. The scales won't be any problems, though.
