I want all to know that I'm very sorry that I've been neglecting this thread, but that it is now going to be redone.
You will no longer have to sign up for the class, but enter when you choose and just go ahead and join in. Remember that you have to take classes in order to go from maiko to geisha and while we will not make you number your posts in this class, you are expected to be fairly active.
Remember to have fun RPing in here, and if you have any videos or pics of geisha and maiko dancing, please feel free to share them.

Omny took a step inside the newly opened Dance class, her hearpounded with adrenalin. She took a deep bow." Hello." she said firmly.

Welcome to the Geisha Dance School
As you walk through the sliding door into the dance room of the the geisha school, the first thing you see is a large tatami-floored room with a low stage at the far end. The smell of sandalwood drifts softly through the air and sunlight streams through the windows, shutters thrown open, on one wall.
A young woman in her mid-twenties is kneeling on the edge of the stage, her hands folded about a closed fan, and her deep green kimono settled gently about her. This is the dance teacher, a famous dancer who teaches the art to the newcomers even as she continues to learn herself.

Reijin quietly slid open the door, closing it behind her. Bowing deeply, she murmured a greeting. "Ohayo gozaimasu, Sensei. I am looking forward to learning the art of dance."

Omny smiled " Tohru!" she said happily coming over to hug her sister. " I'm glad we have a class togather!"

Tohru smiled warmly and hugged Omny. "Me too, Omny-chan! We can practice together now!" she said smiling happily.

" I know ballroom dancing from back at Russia! Maybe this will be something like that?" she said chearfully letting go of the hug.

Tohru thought for a moment. "I'm sure the grace and poise learned from that will help, but I think the dancing is a little different from that." Tohru said smiling. "Either way, I'm sure it will give you a little bit of a head start."

Reijin noticed the two other students, recognizing the pair from another class they shared, Traditional Tea Ceremony. The girls were often having side discussions during the slower parts of their lecture, but Reijin had never really payed them much attention. Even now, she stood quietly to one side, waiting for their dance lesson to begin, rather than interrupt their conversation.

Nitta stood from the stage, holding up a hand to temporairily end the classes' conversations.
"Everyone please come up to the front to get a dance fan from the box next to the stage." She said, gesturing to a small box filled with fans even as she held one up herself. Each side of the fan had a thick band of gold on the bottom and a band of red of equal thickness on the top.

Reijin stepped forward and selected a fan from the box. Opening it, she turned it over in her hand slowly, almost reverently, her fingertips lightly tracing the folds. Closing the fan, she stepped out of the way to allow other students to retrieve their fans.

Tohru smiled at Omny and waved her hand to show her that she would listen to the news later. She walked forward and gently retrieved a fan from the box. She smiled twirling it in her hand inspecting the thing of beauty. She opened it and smiled, remembering how she always enjoyed playing with her mother's fans. She closed it and stood next to the girl who had receieved her first.
Remembering her manners, she bowed to the other student and whispered. "I am Foxchan Tohru; it a pleasure to meet you."
