Yeah.. so I don't really have anyone to talk with that gives a rats a** about anime and/or manga and was hoping some of you guys would whee
Feel free to post stuff like, what animes and mangas you enjoy, your favorites, maybe some that you recommend, you favorite characters.. and etc. Hell.. talk about American comics is welcome as well 3nodding
I've always loved animation and was always the first one up at home on the weekends so that I could watch the morning cartoons.. so I guess it fit that, when I got older, I graduated to more 'mature' cartoons. Some of my favorites anime shows include Trigun, Hellsing, Angel Santcuary, X, and The Slayers. All of these shows led me to their mangas (or comics if someone doesn't know) and that spawned a whole new way for me to spend all of my money xd Then came collecting anime cels, toys, soundtracks, posters, pencilboards, and anything else I could get my hands on. (Obsess much? ...nahhhh) And now, if I can't find a poster or cel I like, I draw it myself sweatdrop
I don't exactly know what it is about these Japanese cartoons but I sure am addicted. If I am in a bad mood, I put in something like Excel Saga or a funny episode of Slayers and it cheers me right up... or at least takes my mind off of my problems. The stories are far more interesting than most American made comics and cartoons to me, and the characters are usually more developed (which I love). I can even deal with a crappy storyline if there are well developed characters but I can also take the mindless entertainment that some animes have (ie Excel Saga). The only thing I require is decent artwork and likeable characters.
One bad thing though, I almost always like the anatgonists of the story the most, which leads to my favorite character dying crying Gawd I hate that. I especially like the bad guys that are bad because they want to be, not because someone did something to them... take Legato, from Trigun for instance. Not to say that I don't like the good guys though. A well balanced hero is always needed. I just hate it when the good guys are 'overdone' or have waaaay to much screentime 'cause then, I get tired of them. (Well, except Vash and Alucard.. if he counts as a good guy sweatdrop )
Uhm.. sorry for writting a book here lol

I don't really watch animes as it's mainly the uber kid shows here...I want to watch something that has more thought provoking stuff in it!! sad lol I don't know why, but I don't get the crazy younger versions, even if they are pretty serious...Dragonball Z was interesting until it went GT and all porn star like man.
I am a classic Spiderman girl along with Batman...I do like my Invader Zim and I look up at him heart I also love The Angry Beavers and Ginger...Rugrats and All Grown Up is soo cute and and Johnny Bravo makes me giggle for a while...as does Sheep in the Big City! But I love sheeps so that gose without saying! Old toon wise I like the Flintstones and Scooby Doo and Addams Family <3

I buy all of my anime because the stuff they show on tv (except for Adult Swim) is edited and I hate that. I remember when fox tried to show Escaflowne on Fox Kids and they couldn't even show the entire first episode xd 3nodding
Batman is so cool. He's like the perfect mix of a good guy and a bad guy. xd My roomate keeps me up to date on everything that goes on in the Batman comics. I like the XMen as well. I also used to watch Angry Beavers and Rugrats all the time when I had cable.. Nick toons rocked! I like the Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy and Courage the Cowardly Dog to. For the old cartoons, I like Chilly Willy, Bugs Bunny, and the rest Looney toons gang.

Hehe, I love talking bout anime/manga...but I'm not sure if we'd like the same ones. I haven't, but really need to, watched Trigun. Ok, I saw an eps. but...yeah...I should really start off at the begining. sweatdrop It's hard to say what I like about them...I dislike the ones that are complete romance-I need action! Romance ones are complete sap and have no storyline generally... Hm, I'll list what this one at least likes:
Anime: Rurouni Kenshin (I need to watch SamX), Yu Yu Hakusho, Noir, Case Closed/Detective Conan, Spiral, Fullmetal Alchemist, One Piece (just started this one...not completely sure I like it), Yu-Gi-Oh (AHAHHAHA, sometimes i'm not sure if i just watch this one to laugh at how ridiculous they are...maybe uncut would be better), sailor moon (THE UNCUT ORIGINAL VERSION IN JAPANESE!), Samurai Champloo (sp? I just saw the first eps, it might be cool) and I liked Dragon Ball Z...up to the cell saga. I know I'm leaving some out though...
Manga: Rurouni Kenshin, Ranma 1/2, Flame of Recca, Naruto (it's coming out as an anime soon!), Shaman King, Bleach, Sailor Moon (*sigh* I'm missing the very first and last of them), and Fruits Basket...although again I must be leaving some out.
I don't know...I suppose a good anime/manga needs to be able to make you feel something. Whether that is laughing insanely to yourself whilst others roll their eyes, balling your head off while others try to calm you down, or yelling at the book/tv...thinking that they can actually here you.

I agree with you about the completely sappy stuff DemonessofShadows.. I hate that. I like the action adventure type animes, Fushigi Yuugi was a really good one. I've heard that Kenshin was really good and I keep trying to borrow it from a friend of mine but he keeps forgetting to bring it over b*****d When I first heard of Detective Conan, I though it was going to be awful but after a few episodes, I really started to like it. And who doesn't like Sailor Moon! lol .. I just wish I had the money to get the uncut version. Whenever I tried to watch it on TV it always got cancelled and that would make me so mad.. right when it got to the good parts stressed
As for mangas I read, here a a few since I forgot to list them: Petshop of Horrors, Fake, Cardcaptor Sakura, Demon Diary, Magic Knights Rayearth (I'm a CLAMP whore blaugh ), Trigun, Angel Sanctuary, X, and quite a few more. I want to start on Tsubasa but I need to finish some others first.

I really only watch two anime: InuYasha and FullMetal Alchemist. When I buy DVD's I rarely watch them more than once, so it's basically whatever is on Alult Swim for me. Gundam Wing was pretty good.
As far as manga, I lost track of a lot of it when I stopped going to the comicbook store. I was spending too much money there. Some that I liked were: Marmalade Boy, Mars, b*****d!!, Sorcerer Hunters, and Magic Knights Rayearth.
Growing up, I watched/read a helluva lot of Spider-Man and X-Men. I still wish somebody would pick up the old X-Men cartoon - it beat the hell out of that teeny-bopper show they play now. crying

I like Inuyasha but I haven't been able to see it all sweatdrop
Elnen Randir, the Escaflowne movie rocked! The score, the way they did the characters.. damn near perfect 3nodding and Princess Mononoke was awesome to (though I don't think Miyazaki could do anything too terrible xd ) If you like Trigun, you should check out the manga. It's very good and alot different than the anime after the first 2 books.
Record of Lodoss Wars was one of the animes that got me into anime. The dragons were nicely drawn and the story was wonderful.
