If you could make any movie or book into a musical, what would it be and why? It can be a biography too.
My friend AJ and I are going to write "The Ring: The Musical." Could you imagine? I can totally see Samara coming up from the well and doing a swing dancing song with a bunch of other dead people. Hahahaha!

We have to find ten theatre articles and highlight them and annotate them for my theatre major studies class, and everyone in my class last year did that one. I'm pretty sure it's opening in the West End first. The whole concept kind of scares me, so I didn't do a whole lot of research on it.

THE Ring is a horror movie about people watching a tape and then dying. I have always dreamed of turning the classic film "The Greatest Show on Earth" into a musical. I think it would translate very well over to the stage. I think that that it would easy to find spots were songs fit perfectly into. Also, the theatre work is at the point, technically speaking, where the stunts could safely be pulled off. The other one I want to see taken from book AND movie is "The Labyrinth." Again, a story that I think would be easy to write music around and with the right staging, costumes, sets, etc. it could be done SO beautiful. The dream sequence at the mask… oh my god that could look SO amazing.

Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister...
By Gregory Maguire (author of wicked)
I wrote the music about it already hehe... however to write a musial about a book or movie involves buying rights so my musical will never be a possibility...

Anastasia, the animated movie.
Sure it's full of inaccuracies, but...c'mon! It's practically a stage show already...

Not to be nit-picky but Queen already has a musical. It's called "We Will Rock You." and it is playing in the West End. It's a preety sweet show but it definatly helps if you are a die-hard Queen, like myself. It's not to plot heavy and kinda in concert style. Then again teh main charactors are named Galileo, Scharamouche, andcMeat...

I would really like to see Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky as a musical, actually...could turn out to be really dark and make the audiences think. And I have a pretty good idea of a duet between Raskolnikov and Sonya when she's reading the story of Lazarus. cool

Snow Falling on Cedars: The musical. I hated the book, but I think it would be hilarious.

I would love a musical about Jim Henson, sort-of a biography, but sort-of fictional as well, kind of like the play Amadeus, which is a historical fiction about Mozart.
That would be cool.
