Re-reading the Guild Statement, I realized this might be a topic of interest, so here goes! Awhile ago now my girlfriend sent me an AMAZING collection of scans of Fruits magazine. I presume you guys have seen it? My thoughts: Japanese kids have WAY too much money, and way too much style!! ^_~

I'm reading a manga called Paradise Kiss which is about fashion and even though it is black and white, it's still wonderfully stylish. I don't see anything like this where I live, maybe New York City. But yes, I am envious of it. I think it's great!
BTW, Paradise Kiss used to be in a Japanese fashion magazine called Zipper.

Well, I finally looked at that page, and it's whee fun! biggrin i think that, based on that page, i might prefer Dikanyama and Shibuza fashion, but I've never been... should i see if i can sneak some Fruits caps into the photobucket? wink
ps, all this talk of districts reminds me, have you ever hears "Shinjuku Thief"? An old fusion jazz project which got me into many of the bands i'm into today...
pps, i see paradise kiss advertised in the back of my Bunko viz comics... is it really mainly about fashion? i find the ads to be mostly about fashion, so i wonder..!
edit: no no, looked at it some more and, i like the shibuya/harajuku stuff best blaugh

I've never been to a thrift shop. There is a crazy overpriced "vintage" store like a 5 minute walk from campus though.

no, no, a true thrift store is a joy to behold... you go in with twenty dollars and just buy EVERYTHING you see that piques your interest -- knowing full well that you'll only wear two things you buy that day. But you get like eight things for $20! At that rate, thriftiness is not a virtue! It's experimentalism at its finest heart
vintage stores are scary. You have to actually know what you're looking for to come out of a vintage shop on top... sweatdrop

Actually, $20 isn't usually enough and will probably net you 2 things if you're lucky. The stuff where you can get 8 items off a 20 are usually stuff I wouldn't wear. It's still better compared to the expensive vintage shops with their used Gucci shirts and s**t.
There are shops around here called Greene Street Consignment thrift stores. I'd rather go there than say.. Wet Seal. I don't go clothes shopping, though. I never find anything good. That would be my sister.

Regardless of the fact that the fad is now starting to grow in the US, jeans under a skirt never was and never will be hot. It destroys all sexiness inherent in skirts and it makes me cry tears of sadness over the waste. Their doubled-up sweaters are damn cute, though!

I don't have a problem with that look. I did it a lot in high school but that was due to weather.
Anyway, if there IS a style I hate, I absolutely loathe those button up anime shirts with the kanji written all over it. I think they are horrid.
