Rules

Follow the Gaia TOS and the rules of The Hmm: Roleplay Haven.

[x] Keep everything PG 13.

[x] Always follow the Gaia TOS.

[x] Respect everyone, and not just in a Roleplay, everyone. Do not flame, ever.

[x] No spamming within a Roleplay please.

[x] Follow your own senses. Don't do anything stupid.

[x] Respect your threadmasters! If you aren't going to roleplay after applying, please notify your threadmasters so they may prepare in consequence...

[x] Cursing is allowed, but don't go crazy with it.

[x] Romance is welcomed, but no farther than that within an RP.

[x] Please do your very best to stay literate. Unless your character has a strange accent of something. Misspelling words is understandable, but not all of the time.

[x] We all suffer from writers block at one point or another. Do not let this stop you though. If you must post a one sentence post then so be it. Just do not make a habit of it.

[x] Please at least check this thread every other day. We want active members here.

[x] Inform your threadmasters when you will be gone please.

[x] Dead threads, threads that have not been posted in in a month or more, may be removed.

[x] Inactive members, members that have not posted at all or in over a month, may be banned.

[x] I reserve the right to change these rules at any time.

Additional Rules

When you create a Roleplay, you may require other Roleplayers to apply to join. Or you might like to be more easygoing and not require an application.

Please, when making a thread, either put [AR], [NAR], [NPA], or [UC] in the beginning of your thread's title.

[AR] For Application Required. ((If there is a time-limit to apply for your Roleplay be sure to include that in your first post. Also, if all positions have been filled be sure to change the status of your Roleplay to [NPA]))

[NAR] For No Application Required.

[NPA] No Positions Available - All available positions have been filled, the Roleplay is not accepting new members/Roleplayers.

[UC] Under Construction - Use this if you are not quite ready to open, but wanted to get part of it down for others to see.

[Crew] Crew - Only the Crew can create these threads!

Note: These heading do not need to be bolded in your Roleplays title.

Adding to what Bianca said, I would like to say that when posting in an RP while interacting with another person your actions should not always be completed. Particularly if your actions would have a negative effect on the person that you are interacting with then you should not complete the action.

Example 1 Negative Action
As his foe swung his blade to slice into him, Dave ducked beneath it and spun around bringing his own sword up and around in a sweeping arc that beheaded poor Bob.

Because I am the best. Mwahahaha

Now, obviously I'm exaggerating a little here but my point remains valid you do not choose to hit another character, they choose to be hit. This can also lead to godmoding, but in that case I will step in.

Example 1.1 Negative Action
As his foe swung his blade to slice into him Dave ducked beneath it and spun around bringing his own sword up and around in a sweeping arc aimed for Bob's neck.

This is better, it lets you have your action but it gives your opponent the chance to react to it. Myself, I would probably react to this post somewhat like this.

Example 2 Response
Bob saw the attack coming and reacted in an instant though still almost too late. He ducked backward and the tip of Dave's blade sliced into his cheek leaving a long bloody gash. Bob reached up and touched what would most assuredly become a scar and took his hand away coated in blood.
"Hey! That hurt, you jerk!"

See, Bob did not lose his head but was not completely unscathed either.

Lastly are the positive and neutral actions, If you wish to do an action to another character that will not harm them or that will actually benefit them, well then I would say just go ahead and do it.

Example 3 Neutral Action
Anna saw her loving boyfriend Jim depart the bus that had brought him home from his months long session at boot camp. She ran toward him tears in her eyes and called out his name just before she leapt at him and glomped him to the ground.

Of course this may hurt his back a little, but no permanent damage was done.

Example 4 Positive Action
As Ted lay upon the ground, mortally wounded. Natasha rushed up to him and cast cure. His wounds began to heal themselves and he began to feel revitalized. She cast cure again, and then again. Within moments Ted was completely healed.

A completely positive action. I wouldn't hesitate to just post that one.

These are just a few examples of basic actions you can use when interacting with a character in a role play.
