I just made a Go club at my school, and i need suggestions to attract members, fundraiseing ideas, and ideas for events

go posters are a good idea, alot of people who would atleast know of go would recognise instantly. sometimes they arent sure if there is a club, but once they do they'll usually try it out.
aside from that, attend every open day function, bring some go boards + stones and give some demos.
events include tournaments but those are hard to plan and can be restricted in terms of funds. you could try just having outdoor go, attract passing people. or try to have a collab with other societies like any chinese society or culture societies if they'll be willing to host a go tourney.

To start one you probably have to get permission from the principle and raise money to buy the stuff you need.

Jealous... I want a go club, but there is only 3 people who know how to play, and 1 who would like to learn.

I still haven't joined the club at my school. It's quite small too.. Just 62 members and highest is 3 dan. Even though I know two who play on KGS and are 4 dan or higher at my school but I don't think they're part of the club. <.<

i am so jealous of the people who have go clubs at their school. maybe i'm going to start one. even though i'm not that strong and i'm only 23 kyu. i would put up posters like the others said and convince at least around 15 people that go is a really good game to play.

Hope it will get big. Well it doesn't even need to get big but it's always fun to play with many players. ^^ This year the club's going to China with another go club from Sweden. I wish I could go with them. D: I should go see what the people there are like. They meet in this beer house. Every week. surprised

Heck, I'd just like to meet one other person that's heard of it around here. I have to get my sister to play a bit... it's kind of sad when we're cosplaying as Sai and Hikaru and Hikaru knows more than Sai. ^_^;;

GwydionAE Heck, I'd just like to meet one other person that's heard of it around here. I have to get my sister to play a bit... it's kind of sad when we're cosplaying as Sai and Hikaru and Hikaru knows more than Sai. ^_^;; this is sorta off topic but I saw a go problem related to that. the sai really was Unbelieveable teriibible....not very.....excellent......and the problem was to beat the person playing sai in a few moves. (wow.....I am amazed at how much of the board you have....ever heard of eyes?)

wow i havent checked this in a while but here is an update on my go club.... It has been going for about a year now and its doing ok... we have 10 members, but a lot of them goof off.. sweatdrop ... there are really only like 4 dedicated members. but its doing better than i thought it would. blaugh
