The sun was quite low as Jini'kali waddled up to the den she shared with Topas. As the light painted her the same shade of red as the grasses around her, the ratel stopped to look up at the sky. The moon rose up slowly, basking the land in pale light as it took over. In such light, Jini tended to glow. It was one of the reasons she stayed in at such hours, since she was a sitting duck for packs of hyenas to pick off. Sitting down, she looked about, pondering where Topas was.

Topas had been out all day with Goma and was now heading back from Yakuti's den from the Elephant Graveyard. He just made a long tunnel from the Graveyard and to the Pride Lands. Luckily it was well hidden away. Now he was heading back to the den he made for Jini and himself. How he got there was not the traditional way.

The black ratel'spaws pulled away at the earth when he felt his head bump up to something. Slowly he dug away a few inches and emerged from the ground to see it was just the female he was looking for, "Oi, Jini!" he called as he pulled himself free of the ground. Shaking his body of loose dirt, he came to her side, nuzzling her softly.

Startled at first by the movement of the earth near her, the white and gray honey badger couldn't help it, she started to laugh a bit. "You sure know how ta make an entrance there, Topas." She nuzzled him back, then groomed a bit of dirt from his face. "Nice night, ain't it?" She nodded upward at the moon, glowing brightly at them. A soft, puffy cloud went drifting by it, obscuring a piece of the pale orb in the sky for a moment before moving along on its way.

"Not as nice as you, Jini." Topas smiled and then broke out into laughter, "Alright I admit, I am not good with flattery." Topas wasn't, well...only around her anyways. Sure he talks of her a lot with the guys, but around her he just could not do it.

Topas looked over at her soft pure fur as glew in the moonlight. So magnificant. "Jini, we need to talk about something. I've been thinking...." he started, waiting for her response to the sudden question.

Under the white and gray fur, Jini'kali blushed. Such a flatterer... "Nah, you're pretty good at it." She smiled through her blush, glancing up at him.

Her ears perked as he spoke again, looking him in the eyes. "Yeah...?" A thought had been bouncing around in her mind after she'd met Ger. He had a mother, and his mother had him... And a lot of the lion couples had cubs... Children... She had started to wonder, what would little Topas and Jinis look like...? Her blush worsened as she thought of such things in front of Topas.

"Jini...would you like to start a family with me?" he asked, resting his head upon her's. His tail wagged a little as his heart raced. He wanted to start one for so long, but only now gathered the courage to ask her the question. "I love you so much...." he mumured before wrapping his small, stubby arms around her. The ratel held her tightly as the moon's light fell onto them, brightening their fur, glowing, blessing.

The blush dissipated as he seemed to read her mind. She looked at him with eyes she'd never have thought before meeting him would be filled with love, then burried her face in his chest. "Yes... I would love to have a family with you, Topas." She inhaled his scent, emersing herself in it. Indeed, the moon seemed to be blessing them as it shone down upon them, almost smiling.

"Jini, I love you." he murmured licking her head and then nuzzling her, Topas was thrilled that she agreed, but didn't show it at all. The dark ratel held her close until he could not tell where his dark fur ended and where her pure fur began. It was true, opposites attracted.

Off in the distance, he could hear some birds singing a joyful song as acompanied by a cricket chior. Topas scowled...he hated this sort of thing, too...girly for his own taste.

She didn't bother to open her eyes as she seemed to blend into his fur, a smile upon her maw. "And I love you, Topas..." Her ears perked, though, at the music of nature. She peeked out, glaring at a bird near by. When the bird saw her dark look, it seemed that looks could indeed kill, since the bird was distracted by shock at such a look long enough for a raptor to swoop down and grab it for a late evening snack. Never a dull moment, even at night.

Topas glanced over as the bird's music was finally silenced, "You should be the Goddess of Death if you can do that again." he chuckled. Topas released her and stared into her deep emerald eyes. "How about a walk to the watering hole and back to the den for the night?" he suggest with a slight smirk on his black maw. Topas wasn't so pure like Jini, but then again she couldn't be that pure either.

Her coat was deffinetly the purest part about her... Jini laughed, shaking her head. "I don't think I could be a god. Having to anser to mortals all the time..." She got up, smiling at him. "A walk would be wonderful." She returned the smirk, proving that indeed her coat was the purest thing about her.

Topas got to his feet and walked along side his mate to the watering hole. His gaze was fixed on her completely, not her fur, her eyes, or the things behind her, focused on her. The two walked along quietly as the night events went on around them, cries for help from prey animals as they were about to be devoured by something, the sounds of silent crickets. Topas smiled softly at Jini.

Jini couldn't help smiling, both for the moment with Topas and... The crying of prey animals. Yes, she had a twisted idea of what was music to her ears... Her tail wagged slightly as they drew near the water, ears listening to the sounds about them, though her focus was, in return, upon Topas. What could she say? He was irresistable like that.

The watering hole was near now, it's surface untouched. Calm and reflective, the moon shined down on it's glass-like surface. Topas looked over at his reflection, slowly he drank his fill and sat back to wait for his mate. He smiled constantly when looking at her, as if it was impossible to frown. He let out a love filled sigh, "How about we head back to the den for the rest of the night." he grinned, an obvious hint to his intentions.

Dipping her face near the water, Jini'kali drank her own fill before slipping in for a bit of a bath. The water felt nice, and it washed any dirt away from her gleaming coat to make it glow even more in the moonlight. Shaking off, she smiled at Topas. "Of course. Lead the way." Yes, she HAD picked up on the hint.
